"Located on the eastern side of the Queen's Domain, the lush landscapes of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are home to 6,500 varieties of plants, including more than 400 Tasmanian species. Wander the peaceful Japanese garden, be awed by the incredible conifer collection and then picnic on the lawns or grab a bite at the Succulent restaurant. Don’t miss the Subantarctic Plant House with its incredible array of rare flora."

Beautiful gardens to walk around and see different plants and garden designs 🌹🌺🌻🪻 It took me about 35 minutes walk from the city central via intercity way to the Botanical garden. I love the Japanese garden and the rose garden, however, it was pouring rain when I visited so all the poor roses seem to be unhappy 🥀😞 I also really enjoyed the Subantarctic plant house which have this cool looking fern with hair on the leaf 🪴🌱 and beautiful mural on the wall! The calming lily pond has a whole family of duck and duckling swimming around welcoming spring! The conservatory is nice and warm and filled with lovely orchids, just lovely to look at!

Large area to explore. To see it all would take a good half day at least. The Japanese garden was a highlight. Currently the cafe is being refurbished and there is just a van for refreshments. Seemed quite expensive, but this seems to be the case compared to NZ. We took the hop on hope off that has a half hour service on a 24hr ticket. Being on a cruise we didn't make the most of it, we'll worth it if you have the time.

Magic and huge gardener! A dream, lot of different plants and flowers. Different part of the globe scenario and amazing, beautiful, perfect care to detail. Lovely to spending some time, take pictures and be grateful for the creator. Thank Jesus! Thank God allowing us to explore such a great place.

Lovely botanical gardens! It has a good little coffee cart inside too. Doesn't take long to walk around the gardens but the range of plants from all round the world and Australia is just amazing! Well worth visiting.

Google
Very pretty and well kept gardens. There are lots of informational plaques under each plant to tell you about it. Multiple different scenes/gardens. Lots of places to sit or stop in the shade. Only thing to note is that a majority of the garden is set on a hill, so expect lots of stairs and hills.

I am most impressed with their Japanese Garden, it is so authentic and beautifully done. It made me feel I was back in Japan. The conservatory was most enchanting, it felt like I was in a fairy tale. Such a nice park overall. So many things to see like Subantarctic plant house and pineapple house. Friendly staff/volunteers, very clean and it is just magic to be in there.

Wow, was blown away by this. Not many influencers suggested this when looking for things to do in Hobart. It was one of my favourite things. So many beautiful trees and flowers and displays. There was a small coffee van with Apple drinks and delicious cakes. Easy access for anyone. Loved it

Amazing Botanical Gardens, so beautiful walking around looking at all the local and international fauna. The Japanese garden was a highlight with the pink flowers everywhere. Highly recommend for everyone to visit and take some time to relax walking around!

Yelp
Just outside the CBD near the domain are the Botanical Gardens. Not as big as some other capital cities gardens, but it's in Hobart- which isn't as big as other capital cities. It's plenty big if you take your time- several "zones", including a pine forest, Japanese Gardens, Antarctic coolhouse, succulents and Fuschia house. A lot of it hilly, but there is plenty flat to explore if mobility is an issue. There's a cafe in the centre, you can grab a full meal or just grab a takeaway from the takeaway window. As a local, you almost forget it's here once you've been here a few times but considering it's free and very well maintained, there's not much negative to say about it!

Yelp
I was not thrilled with these gardens, and I'm quite familiar with botanical gardens in Australian capital cities. These were a bit far from the center of the city (and the one bus was way off schedule and a real pain to deal with). They are near the water, but there is a wall and a freeway between the gardens and the river, which is a shame. The plants and features themselves were perfectly good, but the site was underwhelming. I wouldn't categorize this as a must see, more of a quiet place to hang out.

Yelp
Small selection of wines by the glass to be shared with a cheese plate to share . No line on this glass.

Yelp
I really like Hobart's botanical gardens - even if they are a bit smaller than those you might find on the big island. A great calming oasis really close to the CBD there is actually a surprising among that goes on here - check the website regularly for the schedule and you will find events such as; Shakespeare in the Gardens, Concerts (like a day on the green), kids days (like the Teddy Bears' Picnic), special dogs days, horticulture courses, exhibitions and more! The gardens feature a reasonable restaurant with a great outlook over the gardens and is popular as a wedding venue. My picks - lounging on the grassy hills picnicking, the Japanese gardens, the conservatory and the fernery.

Yelp
These gardens are beautiful and I would be delighted to go again. I saw my first ever blossoming apple here. Has a very english feel but there are many local tasmanian botanics.

Yelp
We walked through the gardens and worked up an appetite. We also welcomed the shade. We were seated on the terrace, with a great view. Service was fine. The food was fine, albeit overpriced. We shared a crumbed trout with salad and chips. Everything was tasty, but the serving size was a bit small for the cost. Slightly pretentious, but amazing view!

Yelp
The Botanical Gardens are worth a visit if in town for a few days. Tasmania has its own climate and topography, so if you're really into gardens, it's a priority. Otherwise, some of the other Botanical Gardens in Australia and more spacious, more varied, and more memorable.

Yelp
Outstanding gardens! Formal gardens, veggies incorporated into the decorative gardens which really reflects modern gardening trends, Peter Cundell's Veggie Patch, and outstanding Japanese section, native section well labeled, lots of area for picnics, etc!
