I had such a great stay here! The room was super clean and the bedding was so comfy—I slept like a dream every night. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options to choose from, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience even better. I would definitely stay here again! We've stayed all around Scotland and this was by far our favorite place!

We had a 2 night stay here to explore Glasgow. Great location , large room, and the service was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast included was hot cooked as well as fresh fruits and such. Super nice people ! This is a 3 star property, nothing luxurious but decent and reasonably priced. Able to walk to excellent restaurants and some live music. They recommended Botanical gardens when we arrived and let us know museums and such would already be closed We had room 101 right near reception and were not disrupted by any noise. Smart TV was nice touch.

Avoid, avoid, avoid, unless you want to stay in a hostile environment if something goes wrong. When booking the place, I saw some bad reviews, but thought it couldn't be that bad, well I was wrong. Checked in, no problem and got into the room, windows were open and it was freezing in the room. Immediately found mould on the walls in the bathroom. Closed the windows to warm the room. Later in the night, my pregnant wife decided to take a shower, she generally prefers hot showers. After shower she opened the bathroom door and fire alarm went off. As everyone was evacuating, reception staff entered the room, stating system is showing alarm being triggered in our room. He did his review and there was only steam in the room. After evacuating, staff could not find key to fire system box to reset alarm. He the calls "manager" who arrives 15 minutes later. Now both of them trying to open the box, with no key, unsuccessfully. After 30-40 minutes they finally call fire service, who attend, check the building and force into the box to reset the alarm, they immediately leave after. Once everyone went back into their rooms, we were pulled aside and demanded £250 fine for triggered alarm. When quering the reason, staff was stating that this is for inconvenience for other visitors, and that we have used the shower. Staff confirmed that fire service advised them that it was only steam in our room. We requested paperwork for this on which we got laughed at. Refused to pay the fine, as there was nothing about use of shower within the room or terms of use. He then stated that he did not know if we smoked in the room. Both of us dont smoke and fire service confirmed that it was only steam in the room. Staff was also saying that we did leave bathroom door open and did not turn the fan..again we evacuated and I did not see switch for the fan. After refusing to pay, they told us that we can then pack and leave with no refund. A bit back and forth, and they realise that my wife is heavily pregnant and is getting upset. They immediately backtrack and say that we can stay, on which we refuse as we were not feeling safe to stay in this hotel with hostile staff towards us and possible faulty fire alarm system. Luckily there was nearby hotel with available rooms. When leaving hotel, staff refused to discuss this issue further. This situation definitely had a negative effect on our visit to Glasgow with lack of sleep and unnecessary anxiety to my pregnant wife. Regarding alarm the hotel understood the intended use and chose not to use multiformat smoke detectors to prevent false alarm from steam. Also, this is concerning, that they could not find the key to the box, which raises the question as to when was the last legitimate fire alarm test and does the box show accurate alarm locations. TL;DR Triggered fire alarm after using the shower and then demanded to pay the fine.

Disgustingly dirty, smokey and unsafe hotel. The carpets were dirty, walls were stained and the ceilings had holes, furniture was sticky, windows didn't open, a dusty desk fan only operated at speed #2 as speed #3 was broken despite the heatwave. The mattresses sagged and the pillows were thinner than an A4 piece of paper. ||||Our door wouldn't close properly during our stay and it was not dealt with. A man walked into our bedroom without warning. Hotel staff made no effort to fix the problem. ||||The hotel breakfast was disgusting. The bacon, potato scones and blood pudding looked and tasted of fried derelicts scraped from Iceland's refuse bin and were completely indelible. ||||The staff, when they were not fagging at the front desk and poisoning guests with their smoke plumes, wore tracksuits, slides and panty hose. Even Vicky Pollard would have been embarrassed. ||||Avoid this hotel at all costs. The convenient location is incredibly noisy and the ingrained cigarette smoke in the soft furnishings and carpet and at the front door will make you sick.

Fabulous location, 1 block from Botanical Garden. However, rooms are embarrassingly small and amenities like soap bars, shampoo, conditioners aren't provided. And breakfast? It's all self-serve, hot things put out early and not refreshed, coffee drinks made from powdered packets. Good thing there are real Scottish breakfasts available across the street. And beware, some rooms are up 3 flights of stairs and no elevator.

Very happy with the location. It's an easy walk to the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery and also to the botanic gardens. Bus stop is only a minute's walk from the hotel front door. However, I was not happy with the first room they sent me to—it was down in the basement, dark, tiny, and with a low ceiling. Yes, it had a double bed, but there was no space. I protested that there is no photo of any room like that on the website, and it is not at all what I was expecting. The desk man said it is a double room. I politely stuck to my protest that this was nothing like the room I thought I had booked, months earlier. The man offered me a different double room on the third floor (yes, it is a long climb up the stairs), and that was exactly what I was expecting: a big window, a very high ceiling, and some floor space. I was quite happy with the second room, but I wanted to warn others that they might send you to the inferior basement room. The bed was good and so was the bathroom. The breakfast was very blah, only scrambled eggs (no other eggs) and the warm options (mushrooms, tomato, beans, bacon, etc.) are just set out in steam table pans. It is cooked fresh at 7 a.m., but I feel the breakfast plate photos here on TripAdvisor that are misleading. The dining room is nice. The front desk person was always nice (I encountered three; there is always someone there).

This hotel gets a big NOPE from me. Very tired and somewhat dirty. Worst night's sleep on a very old bumpy mattress that appeared collapsed. At least 2 electrical sockets in the room weren't working. The male receptionist didn't look up from his phone to acknowledge us when we were nipping out for dinner. Oh, I gave it one star because the location is great for Byres Rd and the Botanical Gardens.
