We were extremely disappointed with our experience at Royal West Indies during Hurricane Erin. While we understand that weather events are out of anyone’s control, the way the resort handled the situation was unacceptable. Our flight was cancelled, and we were forced to stay additional days, but instead of being accommodating or showing any compassion, the resort charged us an outrageous amount of money for extra nights. Unfortunately, in the MIDDLE of a hurricane we had to pack our bags with two kids and take a taxi to another hotel. The other hotel was way more accommodating and compassionate towards our situation
At a time when guests were stressed, stranded, and looking for support, the staff seemed more focused on maximizing profit than on helping their customers. A reputable resort should prioritize guest safety and well-being, especially during a natural disaster, but unfortunately, that was not the case here.
This experience left a very negative impression, and we would not recommend Royal West Indies to anyone looking for a resort that values its guests. There are many other places in Turks and Caicos that treat travelers with more fairness and empathy.
