Royale Café

Pros: Excellent healthy food with plenty of vegetarian options. We shared the hummus with sweet potato, the cheese bread, and the vegetarian burger. We ate outside with our dog and they took great care of him and brought him water. Cons: The rations are quite small for the price, and we were waiting a long time for the food and for our check at the end. Overall, a lovely experience with delicious food.

The worst food I had in Lisbon. The food was very bland and the polvo (octopus) was…… horrifying. I honestly don’t know how you call it an octopus and that this restaurant actually served this.

The food was super Amazing and the staff are super friendly. Specifically Rhuan and Vinicius are superb. The place is very neat and clean. In the restaurant and out in the terrace.

Worst dinner I've had since long time. Service is a mess, waiting time ridiculous (and it was not very busy, waiters were just walking around), and the food is absolutely terrible. 'wagyu' burger doesn't even look like meat. Attached a photo of dorritos leftover branded as a guacamole. P.S. This place used to be a completely different establishment, though now it remains under the same name, that would explain a quite ok rating it still has on Google maps.

Spectacular grilled octopus! Grilled to perfection 👌. My companions also enjoyed the veggie burger. So much so, that at first they were unsure whether it's really 100% vegan and not meat.

Excellent food all around and very reasonable prices, portions were also just right. The service was a bit slow, but on a Thursday night with only two waiters, they were packed!

The veggie burger here is so awesome that on our last day at Lisbon we came back to get one again: it's that good! The octopus is also highly recommended - unlike in many other places, the portion is more than generous and really delicious!

Royale is an innovative cafe cooking delicious Portuguese food that combines flavors from around the world in a simple, comfortable setting. It has been my favorite for years and I always return to it when I'm in Lisbon. The food has grown as lush as the vertical garden in the patio, which was the first of its kind I had ever seen ten years ago. I order appetizer, main course, dessert, and coffee at the Royale because it's all scrumptious.

We are visiting Lisbon for the weekend and came here for Easter brunch. It was lovely! We sat outside and had great food and drink (sangria is amazing!). Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice brunch in a quieter area. FYI we also saw someone get their bag swiped at the restaurant next door. So be mindful with your bags!

Great cafe that was close to where I stayed in the city. Mariana A. introduced me to this great spot. I enjoyed chatting and sipping with her. The atmosphere of the cafe is nice. Chill, clean, modern, and not cluttered. The music was great at first, but turned into top 70's-80's music thereafter. And unfortunately, not the good hits from these eras. I opted for vino verde, which Mariana educated me on. The food menu looked great, but I was not hungry since I already had dinner prior. I enjoyed.

This place was fantastic. I had some large cod-filled pastry thing and my boyfriend had a mini version, but with meat in it. I honestly couldn't finish my meal, which was really sad for me because it was delicious! I can't speak to the rest of the wait staff but our server was excellent. I think he might have been new, but I just really appreciated how if he didn't know the answer to something, he went to ask someone else to make absolutely sure he was giving us correct information. I would eat there every day if I could...

We came across this restaurant while we strolled around the neighborhood. My husband was drawn to the vegetarian options as sometimes they are hard to come by when we travel. The kitchen was quick to correct an error for my meal and were quite accommodating. Delicious freshly made lemonade as well! Only issue we had was that the courtyard doors were open allowing a lot of cigarette smoke into the restaurant which was gross since we are not smokers. Otherwise it would have been lovely to sit outside on the beautiful day.

I love the place and it's little back garden in which they allow people to smoke. So you have the nice and original food you have the garden but it's polluted by the awful smokers. It's a shame.

If you're looking for that place where you can have a quiet meal or breakfast, I will truly recommend Royale Café. From the outside, you'll either not notice it or dismiss it for this posh tea room. Well, take a risk. Enter. You'll be glad you did. The ambiance is cozy. The terrace at the back is to die for, specially now, during Spring and Summer. The food and drinks is excellent and at great value. I'll be there frequently. Specially for those breakfast scones.

By pure chance did we stumble upon this little gem on our last trip to Lisbon. Local cuisine with a modern twist, they menu is exciting and delivers. The prices are very reasonable and the service is very friendly. They do have free wifi and a cute little outside area in the back of the building, that is overgrown with lovely plants and completely takes you away from the hustle one bustle of busy old town Lisbon. A special mentioning to the G&T I ordered: 2/3 of the glas measured gin so I had to ask for another bottle of tonic and another glass to mix all that up. For 5.50Euro I essentially got 2 drinks. Sweet!

baba ganoush was slammin!! just wished they gave more pita w. it. Patatas bravado's also delish, but it would've been better drizzled in more royal sauce. Inside ambience was nice and cozy but the outdoor area in the back looked really pretty. Nice place to grab a quick bite after a long day of touring Lisbon. Also, really kid friendly. My two year old made a total mess and they were fine it.

Royale Café was the first restaurant we tried for lunch during our trip. The food was good, but not extraordinary. I'd say that the prices were a bit high for what you get, but the food was tasty and the staff was very friendly.

Great restaurant for non-seafood eaters with various options on the menu. Staff was enthusiastic and spoke English. Had a choice of sitting outside by the street, inside, or on the back patio.

Lovely spot for brunch, they have a garden terrace in the back. Lots of shade and you can still have that outdoor atmosphere. I had the Portuguese sausage and lemonade. I was a bit surprised at how it arrived. It was like a burrito but with a flaky and crunchy wrap. The filling was mashed up sausage and avocado. It tasted more like shredded pork for me? Overall this place makes for a cute date or brunch with the girls on a Sunday.

Nice environment, laid back and kinda hip, quick service (even on a full house day), good food. I had the smoked salmon with asparagus and poached eggs. The mimosas have fresh orange juice and are also lovely.

Nice ambience, music and decorations. Most importantly great food! I had some octopus (I've forgotten the name) dish and it's the best octopus I've eaten in my life. I had a royale milkshake which is pretty good too! The staff are very friendly as well. Definitely worth recommending.

Cosy neighborhood restaurant. Our appetizer and entrees were fresh and nicely prepared. I think our favorite dish was the fig salad although the cod was a close second. Thanks for a lovely meal!

Looks like they have modified their opening times and don't open before 11am now. Shame, becAuse that's a bit too late for breakfast now. Service can be a bit cranky sometimes, but the food has always been very good quality and it is a nice space.
