Royalton Negril had a mix of great highlights and some disappointing aspects. The scenery is beautiful, and we really enjoyed the casino, drinks, and the entertainment crew—they did a fantastic job keeping things fun especially at night. The spa was excellent, and the jewelry store staff were outstanding, friendly, helpful, and professional.
Unfortunately, the rooms and property felt outdated and didn’t match the luxury vibe the resort advertises. The food was subpar, and dining options were limited since restaurant reservations were already fully booked. We went in the off season in September so it was confusing how the minute we checked in we were only left with 1 reservation option for dinner for 1 night of our 5 day stay. Adult-only areas (casino and bars) were small and the staff in those environments were particularly unpleasant, and there was only one pool, which was usually crowded with kids during the day. The beach was also smaller than expected.
One major downside was the excursion crew—they were VERY pushy and overwhelming, which took away from the relaxing atmosphere. As someone who has taken a few trips to a few different countries in the Caribbean -- I can respect the hustle, but nothing has compared to the discomfort I felt in Jamaica for this specific reason.
Overall, the resort & spa staff, entertainment, and views were strong positives, but improvements are needed in room updates, food quality, adult spaces, and overall crowd management.
