I feel truly blessed to have stayed at several all-inclusive resorts, but unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience. I do not recommend staying at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun.
The Pros:
- The kids enjoyed the water park attractions.
- Room keys are linked to bracelets, which was convenient and eliminated the need to carry a card.
- The in-room mini bar was stocked with sodas, water, juice, and beer (no liquor), but there were no snacks like chips and cookies.
- The Royalton app was helpful for checking the daily activity schedule and making restaurant reservations.
- Zen restaurant offered the best food and service we experienced during our stay.
The Cons:
- Customer service at the front desk was extremely poor. Staff were dismissive and unhelpful.
- Check-in was absolutely too long. We had to wait in a long line. We also had to wait in another long line or receive our room number and activate our bracelets. We were charged unexpected additional fees at check-in.
- The resort was overcrowded, and is showed. Lines at the main dining hall and bars were excessively long. The resort seemed to be understaffed.
- Our room had a strong cigar smell upon arrival.
- The food throughout the resort (except Zen) was disappointing - cold, poorly seasoned, and lacking in kid-friendly options.
- Room service was slow and unappetizing; it took 60 to 90 minutes to receive food, and when it arrived, it was barely edible.
- Most upsetting of all, we experienced racism from two hostesses at Hunter's Steakhouse. This was incredibly disheartening. When we brought it to the manager's attention, he had no response and offered no resolution.
Overall, this resort did not meet the standard of hospitality or quality we've experienced elsewhere. I would not return and cannot recommend it.
