Great fun in the 488 Spider for 24 hours, however the overall service was quite poor and has room for big improvement.
I had been a long time viewer of royalty exotics on YouTube and had seen their content online many times over the years. As I live in Australia, I always thought it would be super fun to rent a supercar for a day in Vegas.
I initially contacted royalty exotics in December 2023, regarding our holiday in August 2024 (we like to plan in advance)…
I received an email reply from Tony the General Manager however upon my reply, I never heard back, even after following up with an additional email 8 days later in early January.
I later emailed again at the end of January and Beer responded, he was very helpful prior to booking and answered all my questions. Given the reputation of most supercar rental companies, Beer made me feel comfortable enough to complete the online booking.
I ended up booking a gray Lamborghini Aventador SVJ for 24 hours and paid a deposit in March 2024. I expressed my interest in an SVJ roadster if they happened to get one before our rental.
As I was so skeptical about supercar rentals, I kept monitoring the website for any changes and in June 2024 I noticed the gray SVJ was no longer available to book. I emailed Beer to query and he advised that the SVJ is ‘offline’ but are working on getting a new SVJ added to the fleet.
At this point I did not have a great feeling, but crossed my fingers, optimistic it would hopefully come together.
Mid July I got an update email from Beer, letting me know they had secured a new SVJ and they will have it for our trip! Beer confirmed it was a green SVJ roadster with an aftermarket exhaust, one of my absolute all time favourite cars! At this point my excitement couldn’t be higher.
Beer transferred my booking to the green SVJ and I got an updated email confirmation, great! (Side note - I later realised that the Green SVJ rental contract now had a special ‘100 mileage’ limit where the Gray SVJ had unlimited mileage within the agreed radius… I didn’t notice this until the day before our rental).
2 hours before we were booked to collect the green SVJ, I received the below text advising it had “gone down” and we had been swapped to the 488 spider. Sooooo disappointing. (It was at this point I double checked the contract and noticed the 100 mile limit had been added on the green SVJ contract without me being aware).
I decided to call and spoke to the guy at the desk (never got his name and he answered the phone with “royalty exotics”) and he said he didn’t know why it had “gone down” but had just been told it couldn’t go out due to an issue. It wasn’t very confidence inspiring at all and there was no real explanation for why the car was not available.
It felt as though, either the SVJ is just used as a way to lure business and then later switch to other cars (and retain the business) or they simply didn’t want the SVJ going out in Vegas heat which was over 40 degrees Celsius during our visit. I can understand the second reason, but would have preferred honesty and more advance notice (greater than 2 hours before pick up).
At the show room, there was a Rolls Royce, Huracan Performante, Bugatti Veyron, Gallardo Superleggera and two Lamborghini Murciélagos, none of which are available for rent. Despite the large fleet they seem to have online, the 488 Spider was the only car they had available for us.
That being said, once we had the 488 it was a very fun car and we are glad we hired it. However the entire experience was tainted by the poor service and transition from the Green SVJ. It felt as though we had been somewhat deceived and lied to, but there was nothing we could do to change the situation.
Overall I would suggest hiring a car from Royalty when in Vegas, and would rent again. However I probably wouldn’t bother trying to book the ultra high end cars as they don’t seem to be in any/many reviews and may just be highlight cars to draw attention to the business/website/social media.
