Roy's Rest Camp

Very rustic and quirky. Lots of things hanging in the trees , old parts etc. Looks really cool. Nearby waterhole , we saw some wildebeest. Many little damara dik-dik in the camp. Bought really good kudu fillet and cooked on the braai - great spot

Nico was the most amazing host. He upgraded our room out of kindness and was so friendly. Beautiful place, great food. Will be back one day because of him.

Horrible personnel. Rude and even if you share a room with someone else because there are no single rooms available, you get charged the full amount (and expensive!), even though the room is already paid for, and not even a discount if you already paid for the camping. If you would lend a cusion to a fellow traveller, you would again pay the full amount of a room. We didn't even have electricity which apparently is normal for Roy's Rest Camp, so no lights and no possibility to pay by creditcard. The lady even made it my fault ('you could have come yesterday!!'), but I already did that and after speaking to 3 different people, I had to come later because apparently only the (rude and greedy lady) was in charge of the payments and she was not available. No privacy: toilet and shower are in the bedroom (not convenient if your sharing with someone who's not your partner. Many many bugs as well (not only mosquitos), covered in mosquito bites the next morning. Many amazing and much more affordable places in Namibia, no complaints at all, but do yourself a favour and skip this one.

We had planned to upgrade instead of camping in a tent. However, after seeing our guide subjected to the most egregious racism, we changed our minds. The resort is fine, but I would never go back. It is well located for local places of interest, especially the village of the San people.

A fantastic looking place and quirky room designs. Unfortunately, poor management. Breakfast opens at 7.30am, yet we saw 3 staff members standing in the restaurant with nothing to do!!! There is only a small area with Wi Fi, it’s outside and a very weak signal. We were on a bus thrip, it was somebody’s birthday, we sang happy birthday, then our host briefly put on some African celebration music on, not loud at all. Immediately, a staff me approached us and insisted we turn the music off, he was concerned about other campers!! There was virtually nobody around!! Then, if you want to wash your clothes, you aren’t allowed to hang them up outside your room!!! Unbelievable… I would still recommend visiting and having a drink. With good management, this place would be fantastic

The campsite is nice and good value for money. Unfortunately we had booked a room thinking (wrongly) that we would get WiFi to download photos. 2688 N$ for a small room, meal (no alcohol ) & breakfast was vastly over expensive. It is old, the bathroom was dirty, no chairs to sit outside and the outside light did not work. Food was passible and staff could try smiling. No wonder the rooms were empty.

Always a great experience coming to Roy's, warm welcome, cold beer, lovely rustic rooms, good food, friendly service. Roy's is always our go-to stopover! The damara dik-dikkies is always nice to see and the bush-babies visiting at night an absolute bonus!

Terrible reception very rude and wi fi is also very terrible and they are rude to the guests. No two point plugs in rooms. Rooms doors has wholes in it for insects and snakes to come in. No guidance when you ask for help just terrable. No soap.in toilets at cp sites to wash your hands. No place to sit at camp sites no shade no help if you ask for help they are extremely rude . The whole place have s very bad atmosphere. Not a place where you can relax.
