RR Hotel da Rocha

A bargain right on the beach. Huge rooms. Mine was a corner room and it even had its own outdoor patio! And a cozy TV couch area partitioned with a see-through shelving unit from the bed area. Nice bathroom but step into tub for a shower but oh well. Very good value right on the beach. Breakfast buffet was very good.

This is a higher end hotel in Portimao. The room has a modern design. Huge amount of square footage, complete with a balcony. Asked for a room facing a quiet alleyway. First room was on the 5th floor, in the morning I was disturbed by housekeeping for the room above me, I can literally hear every sound. Called to change to a top floor room, after initially asking me to pay more for a top floor room, they eventually were able to secure one. Moved to that room and had mostly no issue with noise. I can still hear my next door neighbor when they move things around but not conversations. Breakfast was good, it doesn’t change much over the 3 days I’ve been there, but the spread is vast so you can always find something that ticks your fancy. Didn’t use hotel parking as it was the low season and street parking was abundant. Overall a good experience. Docked 1 star for the noise.

We had an incredible stay at the RR hotel de Rocha during the World Flying Disc Federation Beach Championships. The staff were amazing, from check in to asking for assistance, and of course at breakfast! The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel overlooks the incredibly beautiful Algarve where you can watch sunrise and sunset from your balcony.

Highly recommend! A hotel with an ideal location – literally right on the beach. Plenty of great restaurants and many lovely cafés in the area. The breakfast was absolutely excellent and very diverse, offering outstanding quality. Rooms are large, very clean, and serviced daily, and also included a small kitchenette which was perfectly equipped with everything needed for a short stay. Tip: It's worth getting a higher floor (we got 6th floor)! We had a side ocean view from the terrace, and drinking coffee with that view was pure pleasure! The Staff is very kind and helpful. The price is affordable considering the excellent standard offered. We also used the parking, which was a great convenience. We will definitely be back here!

We are Canadians visiting Portugal for the first time. We love this hotel and this area. The hotel is quite modern. The rooms are excellent. The staff are amazing. The breakfast which is included is unbelievable. It is a self-serve buffet but the choices are incredible. The hotel is across the street from an incredible beach. And there are so many restaurants and retail stores along the promenade in front of the hotel it's amazing.

Great food selection,great location very near beach and plenty of shops,ice cream and coffee if you want it, night life with in walking distance. Kettles in room but no coffee. Beds really comfy and massive, shower excellent. Finished holiday very relaxed

Nice hotel, massive lovely bed. Breakfast was OK but same thing every day gets boring after a week even though there was in fairness loads of choice. This hotel has nothing for kids. There is a bar but no evidence anyone really uses it. The pool is a dissapointed. I knew it would be sheltered because it is not facing beach and surrounded by apartments so no view, I just didn't realise how cold it would be and there is no indoor pool. Rooms are cleaned everyday but a quick rub and the tiles on bathroom need a good deep scrub and it really wasn't spotless. Couldn't fault the staff, extremely nice and even offered us a breakfast pack as we were leaving. It was not soundproof rooms as the noise from slamming doors off other residents kept us awake a lot. Nice hotel but would probably try somewhere else next time.

Centrally located near Praia de Rocha’s beautiful beach. |Room spacious and comfortable. Hangers in wardrobe too high. Even my 6 foot tall partner struggled to reach. Nowhere to hang wet swimwear. Room cleaned daily but not very thoroughly.|Pool area quite nice but small. Sun only on pool area for around 3 hours and only if you moved around the area. Small pool bar with limited selection of snacks and drinks (even more limited as it usually wasn’t staffed). Also no tables or chairs at pool bar.|During our 9 day stay no evidence of the normal hosing down of the pool area so a bit grimy in parts.|Food - breakfast was ok - usual selection of buffet breakfast food. Good coffee.|Dinner - not a great selection. I appreciate buffet food isn’t always the hottest but everything was cold except the soup!|Finally, and most disappointing was the lack of a bar/lounge area. There were some tables and chairs beside the restaurant but this just seemed to be used as a waiting area when the restaurant was busy. I never saw it being used as a bar/lounge.|This led to a very flat atmosphere in the hotel. Fortunately a nice hotel opposite has a comfortable bar/lounge area which we used in the evenings. Maybe should have stayed there for the week.
