This is a fantastic museum dedicated to an antarctic expedition, very well done with many displays and interactive sections for younger people, we spent more time than we thought exploring the ship, which has limited access at present due to much needed restoration.

In a word – an experience. You first go through an impressively designed museum where you learn about the ship, its mission, and much more. However, the real highlight is undoubtedly the ship itself. You can explore it on your own. Due to ongoing restoration, only a smaller part is accessible, but it was still fantastic and I definitely recommend seeing it.

Amazing piece of history you can get inside and imagine the adventures it has been through. 🤯 The museum sets up the history of the boat and the reason Dundee possessed the skills to produce this phenomenal boat of its time. The links to local boat building, the Jute trade and whaling industry are connected. The boat is great for all ages but note it is freezing inside. Beware in the summer. 🥶😉 We visited at the end of February. A must visit for all Scots who can be proud of this vessel and what it achieved with the brave crew. Do not miss out. Highly Recommend a day out here. 😎

Visited as part of the museum tour and it is a fantastic step back in time to an adventure in extremely harsh conditions , the ship is lying in a drydock and can be photographed from outside the museum but only by taking the tour can you venture onto the deck and explore below through the wardrooms , storage areas and engine rooms of an iconic ship.

Amazing original ship from the golden year's of antarctic exploration, much of the ship is currently being refurbished or renovated I think but what you can see is incredible. Also attached is a very good and very informative museum all about antarctic exploration and whaling, spent over 2 hours between the two of these and felt like I could have probably stayed longer

If you are fascinated by history and want to visit a ship that was launched in 1901, the RSS Discovery would be the perfect option. The museum tour, along with the ship itself will take about an hour. You can learn about the whaling history of Dundee, how the ship was built, and its exploration of Antarctica. There is also an opportunity to watch a 15-minute movie on Antarctica exploration. There is also a gift to on your way out of the building. Tickets can be purchased at the reception.
