We were excited to stay at RT Lodge. It's situated within the beautiful Maryville College campus and has the look of a charming country inn. The total for two nights was $680 for one room.||When we arrived it was late at night and the string lights were beautiful. The hotel had us in a king room and they provided our requested rollaway in the room although the rollaway was not unfolded or made for us.||The rooms are dated. The bathrooms haven't been renovated in a very long time and are very small. The vanity is located outside of the bathroom. The walls are thin. There was a drunk couple in the room next to us that were making noise past 1am. There's no mini fridge or safe.||The free breakfast was good - eggs, bacon, toast, orange juice, coffee, yogurt / granola / fruit and banana bread. The servers were kind.||There are free bikes for use which is cool but there is no fitness center or access to a local one. They should provide passes to the Maryville College fitness facility.||My kids loved feeding the koi fish in the back patio area.||The property sits campus style. In each building, there is a water dispenser and coffee in the morning.||The guest rooms in the building called Walker have balconies, the ones in the building called Wiley, do not.||We experienced one bad service misstep during our stay. ||We tried to make a dinner reservation at the property's much talked about restaurant, but were turned away. They said we could eat at the bar which is first come first serve. We asked if we could eat outside on the patio but were told that the owners reserved the entire thing. If there's such a crunch that the property can't offer guests paying $340 per night dinner, why are the owners closing off the patio?||We heard a lot about the restaurant and it was one of the reasons we chose RT so we chose to try the bar. When we showed up, we saw others eating on the patio that weren't part of an ownership group but we didn't make a big deal about it. We got on the wait list and the hostess quickly moved us to a side room bc we were with kids. We were a large party, all guests paying $300+ per night, so we asked if they could just serve us food in the side room. The answer was no. It would have been a small accommodation that would have made the situation right.||After more than an hour, they finally gave us a table for four in the bar. Too bad there were 11 of us.||We tried the pimento cheese - it was bland. The beer list was very good. ||There were a lot of old people guzzling martinis and wine.
