The food was so Delicious! Fresh, hot and great salsas! Great margaritas and prices too! The staff was so welcoming and attentive! Definitely recommend Ruben's as a must try spot outside of the main tourist zone! Don't miss out!

Rubens in Isla Mujeres is a must-visit! I went with my sister, and we’re still talking about how amazing it was. You have to try their crispy tacos—they’re the best I’ve ever had, perfectly crunchy and packed with flavor. The service was top-notch, with the friendliest staff who made us feel so welcome. And here’s a bonus: if you go on Tuesday, it’s even cheaper! Great food, amazing service, and unbeatable value. Don’t miss out on Rubens when you’re on the island!

Best Eggs Benedict on the island – we highly recommend this restaurant. We’ve tried several restaurants, but these were by far the best. We had the eggs benedict with lobster and one with bacon, with generous portions of both. Service was quick and attentive, making the experience even better. Suprisingly these were also the cheapest eggs benedict that we found on the island.

Highly recommended! The service is wonderful and the food is delicious. We had the steak nachos, burrito and chimichanga. Goodness gracious! Everything was so flavourful and perfect. The drinks are delicious as well. The prices are much more reasonable than the restaurants next to the beach. They’re only a short walk from the North beach (around 5 minute walk). Definitely recommend going there over the beach front restaurants. Best nachos I’ve had in Mexico so far. Super yummy! Prepare your stomach because it’s big portions.

We’ve been Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Baclar and can hands down say this is the best burrito I’ve had the whole trip, cooked fresh and full of flavour, we got the beef burrito, just wish most the food across the places we’d been had the same flavours!

Absolutely loved this place. Just a 5 minute walk from North Beach. The food is so so good. We ordered nachos to start, then a burrito and enchiladas, along with a piña colada and a tequila sunrise. DELICIOUS. Huge portions and so much better priced than the restaurants at the beach. If you’re in Isla Mujeres, head up here for a great meal. 10/10!

Came here for a late night dinner (9pm) there were only a few people there. We sat up top and the atmosphere was super cute ! The server was very attentive and friendly, even gave some awesome recommendations. The prices were a lot better than the places on the strip. I ordered the pomadoro pasta, it was very good! Of course you can’t compare it to authentic Italian, but I really enjoyed it and ate every bite! My girlfriend ordered the beef burrito and was amazed. She said it was the best burrito she’s ever had! I tried some and it was phenomenal. The sauces on the side had the best flavour too! The drinks were great as well. I also want to point out that the food only took 5-10 mins! Could be because we were the only people there, but it was fast and great service. I’d love to come back here and try more items off their menu. Maybe I’ll have a chicken burrito next time!

Yelp
I heard lots of good things about Reuben's. So we definitely wanted to check it out for ourselves. It's on the southern part of the island and we had rented a golf cart to go from the north to the South to check it out. This restaurant definitely had I more local vibe compared to some of the tourist places up north. As soon as we got there I could tell the employees or maybe even the owner started counting up how many women are party and started to shuffling the tables around to accommodate us. This was definitely one of the highlights in terms of The food that we had. Everyone was happy with their dreams and their food We got the mixed grill which served for adults. The shrimp, the lobster, the steak, the chorizo all of it was a good mix. There was a lot of vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower as well as a salad. Someone else in our party got the enchiladas and a burrito and they're very particular about their Mexican food and they both said it was the best meal of the Trip. The only item I wouldn't order and not because it's bad just because it wasn't as good was the carbonara. I ordered it to split between the children and they actually loved it but if I were an Italian I would probably be left wanting.

Yelp
Really liked my mahi mahi tacos - the fish was grilled and seasoned so that it only needed a sprinkle of onion on top to round it out (and this is coming from the world's biggest raw onion hater). Pro tip with all tacos: you gotta eat it fast or else the tortilla collapses in your hand. They had these amazing chips to go with not your usual salsa but a ketchup/mayo combo and a very very spicy chili crisp. I made the mistake of eating too many of the chips and not having enough room for my tacos. The coconut shrimp was just okay. Very tiny shrimp. My husband raved about the lime soup here for the rest of the trip; I can confirm that it was excellent. Fun casual atmosphere - our food came out pretty fast, even with all of the tables filled. Bonus points for playing music videos of 2010s pop hits on the tv by our table.

Yelp
That lobster Benedict is literally the best Benedict I have ever had in my entire life and literally the best dish I've ever had with lobster! LOCATION & DECOR: Next door to hotel Las Palmas and across from Correos de Mexico within walking distance of playa Norte FOOD & DRINK: -Lobster Benedict is to die for! I've never had a Benedict so good! Vegas cooked to perfection with a runny yolk. Hollandaise was flavorful as well. -dinner platter fed about four grown men and every single thing on there was as flavorful as the next and if this meal was ready to five then the lobster Benedict would be rated to six out of five stars -Breakfast burrito West flavorful as well. -any of the Frozen margaritas are the most flavor for margaritas I've ever had as well. As good as it gets for a frozen strawberry, lime or mango margarita. PRICE: $$$ mxn -Lobster Benedict was $300 pesos. -Breakfast burrito was $180 SWAG/AMENITIES: -second floor seating with outside views -table service -full bar -breakfast, lunch and dinner options STAFF & EXPERIENCE: I don't come to this island without stopping here. This is one of the best places I have ever eaten and the staff is just incredibly personable and attentive. The food is cooked to perfection every time. I like to sit on the second floor right by the street so I can just people watch while I soak up the atmosphere. Music plays in the background and it's quiet enough for intimate conversation. Absolutely love this place and I wish I didn't always have to go all the way to the island just to have it!

Yelp
They moved locations fyi! Closer to punta sur in a neighborhood over there by the inland lake! And just like the last location food and drinks etc is a vibe. Awesome waitstaff, they crush it. We always stop by their spot when voming to isla! Waited drove to get me my own piece of cake on my bday to! I love rubens! #austintexasreviews

Yelp
Food was delicious. The entire group loved what they ordered!!!! 2 for 1 happy hour drinks!!! Service was excellent. Wonderful breeze on the upper deck!!!! Ambiance was amazing!!!! We were able to chat and enjoy each others company Highly recommend

Yelp
Great spot for lunch! I got the chicken burrito and it was so simple but so tasty! Great quick meal and great service. Dining room up on the terrace was a nice surprise as well!

Jim M.

Yelp
The best service. Great food and cold drinks. Make your way upstairs and enjoy the cooler breeze. I think this is a great place for a late or midday snack.

Yelp
Had to redo this. My name was listed wrong before. This is my fourth or fifth trip to Isla Mujeres, and each time, I make it a point to visit Reubens. The food is always amazing. The staff is very friendly and provides the best service you will get on the island. I've come and the seen singers perform or they will play good music for a great atmosphere. The plants also provide a good view. I love the margaritas with the crunchy tacos. I recommend asking for the red spices sauce.

Spencer H.

Yelp
A trip to Ruben's for Lobster Benedict is normally a highlight of a trip to Isla.... Unfortunately this time it was not quite up to par. Hopefully, it was just an off day.

Lauri H.

Yelp
Good food and atmosphere! We sat on the second floor. It is colorfully decorated and a has a great open air area. I had the waffle with fresh fruit. It was very good! My husband had crunchy tacos and they were nicely done too. We were served quickly and attentively. We would go there again!

Sarah R.

Yelp
Read all the rave reviews but honestly didn't know what to expect. I got the tostada suprema which sounded delicious in the description. But it was basically a taco salad from Taco Bell. Even the meat tasted like it. I don't know.. the ambiance was fantastic definitely as we were seated upstairs and they had a band going on, but the food was a slight miss.

Sin L.

Yelp
This place is amazing. A little off the main strip of the island, so it wasn't overly crowded. Service was impeccable and you can tell they really put care into the food they are serving. The Langosta Eggs Benedict with Pablano Hollandaise was exceptional, I'll be thinking about it for a long time. We also tried some of their tacos, and huevos ranchers, everything was a hit here. Highly recommend this establishment.

Yelp
This place is incredible. It's such a homey atmosphere and I absolutely recommend it. Go upstairs and it has an excellent breeze. It's comfortable and the food is so good.

Shauna B.

Yelp
Highly recommend Ruben's! The food is amazing and staff is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is casual.

Yelp
Imple and tasty. Recently ate at Rubens with Pablo as our waiter. Had Jambalia which had a new triat with noodles. All pasta dishes were good as well. Don't miss this place on IM..

Ron F.

Yelp
We tried a bunch of food, stick with the tacos and wings both were amazing, coconut shrimp was over breaded and overcooked...sampler wasn't too bad either!

Albert T.

Yelp
Came to Mexico for vacation. It's a busy island with lots of options but we wanted to eat grilled lobsters. It did not disappoint. Super fresh and delicious. Everything came out fast. Our server Pablo was so attentive and friendly. The location is only a few minutes walk from the docks. There's no ocean views but your on an island so it's beautiful everywhere you eat. I would definitely recommend the lobster here.

Yelp
Don't pass this place by. It isn't anything to look out from the outside. Pastel colored building with paper signs scattered on the walls . They have all fresh Mexican offerings from Tortas, quesadilla, enchiladas, tacos , fresh fish, and tostados and much more. We had a party of 7, 5 adults and 2 kids. They were very accommodating moving tables to allow us to sit together. We had the mole enchiladas x3 , 1 chimichanga, ground beef tacos , quesadilla with shrimp , and one quesadilla with chicken. All the food arrived to the table hot. Lots of fresh ingredients and tasted great. We enjoyed our meal here and were pleasantly surprised by the freshness. All in was 78.00 this included food and tip. Great stop overall . It is in the center of town but further up than most people venture. Definitely a must try if your looking for authentic and fresh. This restaurant is cash only so bring your pesos .

Yelp

Melody D.

Yelp
Went for a drink before our dinner reservations somewhere else. They treated us like we were bothering them. We had 3 margaritas and one coke. They took forever and then charged us $30 for the absolute worst margaritas we have ever had. Avoid this place it is garbage.

Toni H.

Yelp
Beautiful food Rubens does not disappoint sit on the main floor or covered balconies go find out for your self

Johnita A.

Yelp
Good food and the rooftop is delightful. Recommend for groups. Although service is amicable, it's a little slow but who cares because you're in Isla Mujeres on a rooftop.

Heba B.

Yelp
Food sucks service sucks. Saddest looking food ever. Cheapest cuts, boxed mashed potatoes and frozen veggies. No flavor to anything just salt salt and salt.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Get the crispy tacos!!! 120 pesos for 3 tacos and on Taco Tuesday, 80 pesos! I can't wait to return to try the chicken mole enchiladas!!

Steven T.

Yelp
This was our first time eating at Ruben's. We were told 10 years ago that this was the spot however we never made time to try it. Super glad that we did this time around. The waiters are the best. Great food at a reasonable price. Good coffee as well if that's your thing.

Gary D.

Yelp
Good small place with good service, tasty smaller portion, decent price. Like everywhere prices have sure gone up!

Kris H.

Yelp
Another amazing dinner at Rubens! A must for true authentic Mexican cuisine! Highly recommend

Peter G.

Yelp
Above average, decent, touristy Mex food. Points for accepting credit cards. Too bad they can't mix and match tacos. Nice 2nd open venue.

Virgil W.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and friendly staff. The upstairs balcony has such a perfect breeze to never need air conditioning. Excellent veggie chimichangas packed full of veggies that aren't peppers. Yay!

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by Ruben's quiet, unpretentious vibe. The food is incredible and the presentation is unmatched. Don't skip the burrito and show up hungry because it's massive!

Kirk G.

Yelp
Cozy environment with a full menu to choose from. Margaritas were delicious! Enjoyed guacamole/pico de Gallo, topped off with steak, chicken and pork tacos. -Rueben was more than accommodating to our crew

Stella Y.

Yelp
Friendly staff, very welcoming, and good food. Lobster Benedict - very generous with lobster portion and tasted delicious Ceviche - very refreshing and good portion as well Chimichanga and burritos were also very good.

Shelley P.

Yelp
We ate at Ruben's a few times while we were on the island. Great food, great service and prices were wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place. Presentation of the food was wonderful as well. You get a lot of food for the money, that's for sure.

Daniel M.

Yelp
The shrimp Cerviche was amazing, beautifully served and the best I have ever eaten. This is a small restaurant with a strong local vibe. The service was excellent and Cesar is the best waiter.

Amanda M.

Yelp
They also deliver, message the number listed on WhatsApp or they have a couple number options listed on their Facebook page as well.

Vanessa O.

Yelp
So far food in cancun has disappointed me BUT RUBENS IS FANTASTIC! We did the breakfast burrito it was flavorful and perfect way to begin our adventures at isla Mujeres

Cherie B.

Yelp
Quality food, lots of choices and reasonably priced. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Sheri S.

Yelp
Beware! Beware! Beware! We went there because we saw good reviews. We did not know that it changed ownerships. Elvis & Cesar, our waiters, we so kind, all the while waiting to rip us off. We ordered one Ceviche, one side of Guacamole, and one Super Burrito (which was mainly all rice with a few chunks of pork.) We ordered a total of 5 Margarita well drinks which were supposed to be $3.75 a piece. Our total should have been close to $36. They gave us a bill for $72! When asked, they said that gave us the good Don Guillio and that was why they were $9!!! We just wanted out of there and walked away very disappointed. I wrote the owner by email our situation. He said he was the new owner and to call him. When I called him the next morning, he said he was having breakfast. I asked him to call me back when he was finished. He NEVER did. He obviously didn't care that his staff ripped off guests. The help obviously targets tourists. We will never go back and if you are smart, you won't go there either. There's a great place right across the street called LETTY'S. They will treat you right and their food is excellent.

Mark W.

Yelp
Very tasty food, went there for breakfast and had huevos motelenos and fresh fish fillet for dinner. Doesn't look like much from the outside but definitely go and eat there Friendly staff and good service and very reasonably priced

Lesley W.

Yelp
Ruben's hit the spot when we had exhausted other dinner options on the island! I had a veggie smothered burrito, and had no complaints. It was a bit plain with just rice and veggies inside, but it seems that is how they just do burritos in Mexico compared to the states. The salsa was awesome! They had us sit outside while they cleaned the entirety of the inside of the restaurant, so ambience was a bit lower than expected. But, this is a homey place with cheap prices, so what can you do? I genuinely had no complaints and left happy and full. I'd go here again if I was on the island, but personally enjoyed other restaurants more.

Clarissa C.

Yelp
An extremely small restaurant on the island. It was recommended to us by our hotel. Food was very delicious!! I ordered the chilaquiles verdes with egg and arrachera. Highly recommended!!

Mary N.

Yelp
Wow! Great quality food and service. Albert was our server on the rooftop. He was extremely helpful in his menu suggestions. We ordered lobster enchiladas and shrimp tacos. Both were fresh, flavorful and reasonably priced. Reuben was kind enough to include red and green sauce for the enchiladas. Divine! The restaurant is located near North beach but not on a Main Street so service much better and less crowded. Alberto makes delicious Pain Killer cocktail. The balance of coconut and light rum and pineapple and orange juices is fantastic.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Ruben's was listed on trip advisor as one of the top places to visit while in Isla Mujeres. We came here as our last stop before boarding the ferry. I wasn't super hungry because I'd just eaten a taco at a nearby stand, but I wanted to try it out. There was a special for 3 tacos for 80 pesos and a beer for 25 which is about $4 for the tacos and $1.25 for the beer so we got that. The tacos were just okay, nothing spectacular, but I'd want to come back when I have more of an appetite to explore more of the menu items that are recommended. Our bill was about $7 usd in total (I also had a horchata), so extremely affordable.

Mellisa S.

Yelp
So good! Definitely go out of your way for Ruben's. There were six of us and we all enjoyed the food! It was clean and fast. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Michael B.

Yelp
Stopped in Ruben's Restaurant for breakfast one morning. Ruben was there to greet us as we walked in and took us to a table he had outside. He then took our drink orders and brought them back; meanwhile he had a server come and take our order. Service was friendly all around and super fast. I had a traditional breakfast with eggs and chorizo and it did not disappoint. It was cooked perfectly.

Lucas K.

Yelp
Great rooftop spot near Playa Norte. Very good food, highly recommend. Wonderful service.

Richard G.

Yelp
Love this place for authentic Mexican food. Staff is wonderful, close to beach and very reasonable prices for great good

Matt F.

Yelp
We were introduced to this little gem on Isla Mujeres while attending a friend's wedding in June of 2017. We had the reception dinner there. We were a party 30+, and this place has seats for maybe 15-20 people. They brought in extra tables, chairs and staff to handle our crowd. Despite what must have been a difficult night, neither the food, drink or service suffered. Today, we decided to visit the island for a change from our all inclusive on the mainland. After spending the day exploring, swimming and enjoying the beautiful weather, we found ourselves with a little extra time before our return ferry. We decided to visit this little gem and have a bite. Once again, we were not disappointed. I ordered the pescado al a veracruzana. The fish was perfectly cooked and light the tomato sauce was zesty and flavorful. It was accompanied by some of the freshest refried beans I have ever had as well as rice and warm, hand made corn tortillas. Dana had the enchiladas suissa (sp?). The enchiladas were stuffed with yummy chicken and cheese and the sauce was creamy and slightly tart, right on the money. We both had Cokes with our meal and the tab in US was only $12! Amazing! Lastly our waiter Sammy was polite, funny and personable. He even remembered us from our previous visit. Be advised, as I said, Ruben's is tiny, and not in the touristy part of town, but don't be fooled. These folks are putting down some excellent fare, have great staff and will save you a ton of dough over many other spots.
