Ruhija Gorilla Friends Resort Campsite

arriving by motorcycle, I spent two nights here in June 2025 and everything was very nice. The tent with adjoining toilet was comfortable and quiet, the food was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is limited to the dining area for 2 hours each the evening, but the views of the surrounding hills more than make up for that.

I came back again after 9 years for Gorilla Tracking. The resort has really improved. The tent 'Silverback' has even a washroom now. But no power sockets, so carry a power bank.|The nights are always cold but the double bed is very comfy.|We arrived around 10pm and even then a very delicious diner was served. Thanks Phiona and Sylvia!|The day after we had a nice diner too. The chef is really amazing.|50% of the money for the rooms goes to the community. |I can highly recommend. Please visit the orphange school on top of the main road. You will be touched. JP

Very nice place to camp, it has everything, wifi, electricity and warm shower! Very needed after a couple of days with cold showers. The view is amazing and the food comes in large quantities. Definetly go to the village and visit the school!

We were brought here with our tour guide for 1 night before the gorilla trek. Wonderfully kind people run this place. Thank you to Sylvia and Fiona. Yes the facilities are basic but they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at home. Everything is clean, they have WIFI and a lovely restaurant. Food was great - I had my first 'rolex' here and it was amazing. Beautiful views from the room balconies too.

Great people taking care of us. Would prepare packed lunch and give advice for gorilla tracking. Hot shower was so welcomed and the cold beer after even more. Can recommend to everyone. The village also safe to have a walk.

We stayed ta this place, as we were on a budget and this place fitted the bill well.||We stayed in the safari tents, which were in good conditions, with a nice balcony and lovely views. The staff were very friendly and once your ordered you meals in advance, got them out to you pretty much on time. The food was good, a few different options and all was pretty cheap, about 18k for a meal. ||We had some issues with the showers, which was unfortunate. But the staff resolved these by allowing us to have access to some ensuite showers, which was good. ||Overall if you want an authentic, friendly experience at a place that is definitely affordable - this is a great option!

Reasonably priced accommodation with lovely views. We stayed in the tents, which have lockable doors installed which were a good idea. One of our party stayed in one of the en suite rooms which were also good. Food seems to have improved since other reviews as we always found the food to be of a good standard. Fiona was a fantastic host, did everything she could to make us feel welcome. I’d definitely stay again if traveling on a budget.

We stayed here after gorilla trekking, we were wet, cold and miserable but our spirits were lifted on arrival, when the staff rushed with umbrellas to usher us in the restaurant. They brought a charcoal stove and coffee to warm us up and showed us to our en-suite tent with beautiful views.||The tent and bathroom are basic, but they had hot water ready for us and a hot water bottle before bed. Perfect.||The food was ok, but the really great thing about this place was the staff, they were kind, effecient and gave us 5-star service. A great place to stay.
