Rum Doodle

This is an utter gem of a place to stay. The staff were so accommodating when we said that we were running late, so friendly and helpful. The decor throughout and the rooms are gorgeous and charming. Parking was no issue for us and we have a rather large 4x4. The breakfast was delicious, highly recommend the salmon/scrambled eggs! I can't wait to stay at Rum Doodle again.

This B&B is a hidden jewel. This picturesque little building is beautiful inside and out. Named after the booked “The ascent of Rum Doodle”, each room is themed after a chapter, we stayed in “Wish”. It’s quirky and comfortable. This cozy little B&B really has it all. |Greeted on arrival, the host went over a couple of housekeeping rules abs gave us our key. The room was spotless and as a special nod to our wedding anniversary, they had put petals on our bed. Lovely view from our room of the Lakes hills. The room has everything you could need, kettle, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and complementary biscuits, TV and access to DVDs….a hair dryer too (great for me as my personal one is huge!)|The night was quiet and we slept well in a comfortable bed.|Great choice of menu for breakfast, the first morning we had a traditional breakfast and the second morning I had fresh salmon with eggs and my husband had Pancakes… all of which were amazing, hot and servers quickly too! Staff were very polite, kind and helpful. Nothing was too much for them and we were sad to leave. Honestly, has such a lovely stay. ||In walking distance of Bowness, local shops and boats. Buses are frequent.

This B & B is a little hidden gem. It's situated in between windermere and bowness just off the main road so really quiet. The staff were extremely nice friendly and helpful. Rooms spotless we actually couldn't fault it one bit. Breakfast high quality and poached eggs to die for. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay really pleasant I feel sure we will be back..

I booked Rum Doodle because of the customer reviews and was not disappointed. There's lots to praise about this B&B, but the standouts for us were the comfy bed, quiet and welcoming atmosphere, and heavenly breakfast. Cosy Bed: I usually struggle with B&B beds as they're usually very hard, yet this one was soft but with good support. Quality Sleep: I picked the attic suite as we are light sleepers and struggle with noise (particularly other guests snoring...). We were pleased our decision to book the suite paid off because we slept soundly and felt very peaceful in this room. Delicious Breakfast: Truthfully, the cooked breakfast is probably the best cooked breakfast I've ever had. The high-quality ingredients were apparent just from looking at the plate and this assumption was swiftly confirmed with the first bite. Hats off to the chef, as well as to the waitresses for their warm welcome and excellent customer service. The only reason I've given 4 not 5 stars for the room was due to the low water pressure. The water cut out on several occasions while showering in the mornings and evenings, but thankfully always came back on within 30ish seconds, so I could rinse away the suds! I suspect many guests showered at the same time, so low water pressure is understandable at peak times and didn't in any way detract from the quality of our stay. We would happily return to Rum Doodle and very much enjoyed our stay with thanks to all the staff for their warm welcome each day. It's a charming B&B with lots to admire, so it's well worth booking if you're looking for an affordable yet high-quality place to stay in the heart of Windermere village.

Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

Absolutely brilliant B&B. Full of charm and character. The owner certainly looks after you and the little personal touches were well thought of. The rooms were spacious, well maintained and clean. The breakfast....amazing! Would definitely stay again

My husband and l had a fabulous 6 night stay. We stayed in the Shute Room with 4 poster bed and had a fantastic breakfast every morning g delivered by the waitress Kinga who was always so cheerful and friendly. ||The location of the Rum Doodle is half way between Windermere and Bowness so exactly 15 mins walk each way and the main road to catch a bus is only a 5 mins walk each walk away. ||I did make a mistake with my booking and thought l had booked until Thursday 12th June but checkout was meant to have been Wednesday 11th June but luckily the owner Steve had another available room and together with Ellie moved our belongings into another room on the ground floor which was very cosy and comfortable and had a super rainfall shower in the en-suite. I apologised for the mix up and Steve was very understanding and adaptable. ||We will definitely stay again next time we will be in the area and next time l need to pay more attention to the check out day! ||Thank you Rum Doodle fir such an enjoyable stay!

Loved our room at Rumdoodle. Room 6 Shute. Very clean and comfortable. Nice quality bed linen. Amazing breakfasts. Well done chef. Friendly staff, bathroom needs updating but was very clean and the towels and robes were lovely. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits were all provided. Bonus was onsite parking.
