Rum Stars provided the perfect experience when visiting the Wadi Rum. First, taken to their office for some beautiful tea. All our bags were taken to the camp while our driver and guide, the fantastic Mohammed, took us to visit the Fig tree of Lawrence of Arabia.
Throughout the day we were taken to various sites around the Wadi Rum until we were told to go through a canyon and Mohammed would meet us on the other side. Once we went through, Mohammed had prepared us a full lunch spread: galayet, feta and corn, endless bread, we couldn't have asked for more.
Mohammed never rushed us, completing the trip at our pace. We rested until we were ready to move on.
Continuing with the sites, we eventually had the opportunity to do sandboarding! Such a cool experience. Finally on day 1 we were driven to a perfect view of the sunset in Wadi Rum.
Once we were done, Mohammed drove us back to the camp, where all our bags were ready for us. We were given some more tea and saw the bedouins make Zarb, cooking under the ground. It was such an amazing experience. After dinner, we spent the evening watching the stars, while hanging out with the bedouins, having conversations about bedouin life and enjoying tea around the fire.
During the day, I asked Mohammed about his traditional dress and where best to purchase this. He told me about how to purchase high quality material for his dress, which I appreciated. However, on day 2 Mohammed surprised me and had purchased me a high quality emirati style dress. I genuinely couldn't believe the level of hospitality the people at Rum Stars offer!
On day 2, Mohammed took us to the highest mountain in the Wadi Rum and climbed with us to the top. We got an amazing view of the entire Wadi Rum and the Saudi Arabia border. Once we reached the bottom, we were taken to a beautiful shaded area, where Mohammed cooked us another fantastic lunch. You really would not expect the quality he provided while in the desert.
We then went on a two hour camel ride from our camp to the sunset spot, enjoyed another dinner with the bedouins, and had a lovely sleep in our fantastic home in the Rum Stars camp.
Overall, I couldn't have asked for more. It was my favourite part of visiting Jordan, only improved by the incredible staff at Rum Stars. I would recommend this company to anybody.
