Completed two dive days with the excellent Rumblefish this week. As an AOW but with only 20 dives to date I arrived at the shop for my first dive quite nervous. However as soon as I met the team, and my guide for the day, the lovely Deepika, I instantly knew I was in safe hands. The briefing was good, buddy checks completed and she was very helpful with my gear as I was sporting a shoulder injury. The beach dive off Kata reef was straightforward and many beautiful fish were to be seen including tiny glass shrimp, nudibranch, barracuda, parrot fish, butterfly and the usual reef inhabitants. An excellent morning!
Dive day two was much more involved, boat trip to Racha Noi and Racha Yai on the MV Sirolodive with about 50 other divers. My guide for the day was the wonderful Sami, who instantly put me at ease with his obvious experience, knowledge and concern for safety. He took time to show me around the boat and explain how the day would work, a very slick operation indeed! Throughout the day his communication, banter and attention to my needs and concerns was second to none. We completed 3 dives, Banana Bay, Camera Bay and Bay 1 which incorporated sandy slopes, rocky terrain and finally a wreck dive. This was my first dive in an overhead environment but I felt comfortable and at ease at all times knowing Sami was keeping a close eye on me. His checks and communication both on land and under water ensured I had a fun, safe day and saw some wonderful things including eels, trigger fish and sea snakes. He also took some great videos of me which are a fabulous souvenir of the day. Definitely an excellent day all round and I cannot praise Deepika, Sami and Rumblefish highly enough!
