Lovely quiet, clean, and very affordable hostel near the centre of Bukhara, with a very accommodating owner. I got to the hostel at 7am after getting the night train from Tashkent, and was promptly given a wonderful breakfast cooked by the owner, who kept coming out with more and more dishes and teas/coffees, all in authentic Uzbek style. In my dorm room, the owner let me choose my bed and turned on the A/C for me. On checking out, she gave me a receipt for the city’s tourist tax and allowed me to keep my bags safely in the lobby for the day, before I came to pick them back up for my train that evening. When I missed my train (my own fault for going to the wrong station) and returned to the hostel, she checked me back in and gave me the same bed, which had already had the linen changed and cleaned.

We arrived at Rumi Hotel tired at midnight on the last days of our trip. A very sweet woman, who I can call the mother of the business, welcomed us. She took care of us, told us about the city, introduced the hotel, talked about the history and culture of the city. We went to bed early because we were going to wake up early in the morning and she had prepared a very nice breakfast for us the next morning. There was another very sweet mother like herself, who was also her daughter. The lady also helped us with many things with her sweet tongue. Her hospitality made me feel like I was at home. While waiting for our train ticket, she offered us tea and offered us all the facilities of the facility. The business is in a complete family atmosphere. The fact that the hotel is 5 minutes away from the city center on foot is also a great advantage. It is very close to beautiful restaurants and historical places. I would like to thank everyone from the smallest to the largest of the business. I recommend everyone who comes to Bukhara to stay at this hotel. I have invited them to Istanbul as well. We will be happy to host them in return for their hospitality. For those looking for a warm hotel with a family atmosphere… Rahmat Rumi Hotel…

I regret choosing to stay at this place—it was truly disappointing. While the location is undeniably good, situated close to major tourist attractions, the advertised "24-hour check-in" option turned out to be completely misleading. Instead of proactively messaging the property, I waited outside the hostel for hours, hoping someone would let me in. The issues didn’t stop there. On the first night, no blankets were provided. To make matters worse, they charged me extra. Although I managed to get my money adjusted in the next booking, I had to specifically request this. Additionally, I was moved to a better bed with some privacy, as the previous one was a standalone, open bed without a curtain. As I was leaving, the lady at the reception asked for my passport, which I had already submitted upon arrival. Her behavior was odd, taking several minutes to do something questionable with my passport, all while ignoring my questions. When I asked her for clarification, she rudely responded with, "Don’t create drama here." Such unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I strongly advise against staying at this hostel. There are far better options out there that value their guests and operate with proper professionalism. A friendly atmosphere is vital for an enjoyable stay, and I hope the management here learns and grows from their shortcomings.

Dishonest people. I have paid two nights registration fee but they only register you for one night in the system. As a result, when I left the country, I was questioned by the border control and $100 fine. Don’t trust the hotel, when you ask them for the registration slip and they say it’s all okay.

Nice family run hotel/hostel with a nice breakfast. Close to all the attractions in Bukhara and sociable place to meet other travelers.

My stay at Hostel Rumi remains one of my most cherished travel memories. It was my birthday during my visit, and the owner’s kindness truly touched my heart. Upon learning about my birthday, he offered me a glass of his delightful homemade peach wine. Despite the language barrier, we spent hours conversing through a translator, sharing stories about his family, his children’s studies in architecture, and the beauty of Uzbekistan and the similarities in our native language. His warm hospitality made my solo birthday trip truly special. The next morning, I had an early train to catch, and to my delight, the owner packed a complimentary breakfast for me. The thoughtful gestures and genuine care I experienced at Rumi have left an indelible mark on my heart. The property itself was fantastic—immaculate, cozy, and well-kept. For the price, it was an absolute steal. Although my visit was many years ago, the memories of Rumi’s hospitality remain vivid. In my 11 years of solo travel, my time at Roomi stands out as one of the most heartfelt. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Uzbekistan.

I would definitely not recommend you to go to this hostel! The location, price and facilities of the hostel are good, but there is no doubt that you will have a completely bad experience because of the people there! The stop of many travelers after Bukhara is Khiva and by train. The Khiva train is at 2 o'clock at night, so you need to wait somewhere until that time. And they say don't checkout, wait here. They are putting unnecessary pressure, such as do not do economics for health. The same thing happened to me after I saw my friends who were exposed to it. And apart from that, they don't make the registration they should make to the state for you, and they make incomplete registration under the excuse that they forgot. And then they say they can't change it and leave you helpless. If you examine the comments, you can see a lot of people who are facing this situation. At the same time, the woman in the hostel constantly comes and lights up because the hostel costs a lot, etc. it closes things like that. It was the worst hostel experience I've ever had. Bukhara is a wonderful city, do not remember it with the bad memories you will have from these people. Have a pleasant trip.
