Aesthetic, simple, and a great place to unwind Rumours in the Auckland CBD is such a beautifully simple and aesthetic spot — clean lines, calming vibe, and a space that just feels good to be in. The cold matcha was an absolute treat. Smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced — definitely a highlight and something I’d come back for. Overall, a great place to relax, catch up, or enjoy a quiet moment. Highly recommended if you love minimal, thoughtfully designed cafés with quality drinks.

A quiet corner in the city, a simple cup of drip, and a space that feels effortlessly calm. Rumours is one of those rare cafés where coffee isn’t just a beverage—it’s a craft, and you can feel that as soon as you step inside. The first thing that greets you is the aroma. Bright, clean, lightly acidic — the kind of fragrance that reminds you what a real drip coffee should smell like. One sip brings a refreshing clarity, a smooth balance, and a finish that lingers just long enough. The transparency of the brew, the shine on the ice, and the absence of bitterness all point to one thing: a skilled barista who truly knows their craft. The space itself is intentionally minimal. Textured walls, natural light, and uncomplicated furniture work together to create a sense of gentle stillness. There’s nothing loud, nothing distracting — just enough warmth and openness to make you slow down without realizing it. It’s the kind of space where your thoughts naturally settle, and small frustrations quietly fade away. And then, the people. The staff here carry the unmistakable energy of those who take coffee seriously. Their service is bright, approachable, and confident without being intrusive. They care about what they serve, and it shows in every gesture, every cup, every interaction. In the end, Rumours is more than a café. It’s a small pause in a busy day, a place where a good cup of coffee can reset your mood, clear your head, and give you a moment to breathe. For anyone looking for a simple but deeply satisfying break, this spot is absolutely worth revisiting — again and again.

You will love this Japandi style cafe which is refreshingly different from the crowds. It is small but the space is elegantly arranged with minimal setting. It offers your normal coffees as well as pantry and matcha drinks. Their price is not the lowest because they used the best ingredients.

Been coming here for a long time and have to give credit where credit is due! Literally the best coffee in the CBD (hands down). Friendly staff and aesthetic interior, perfect for a moment of calm in your busy day and very dog friendly if you need that type of therapy. Lots of pop up events as well so keep your eyes peeled for some extra yummy kai! 10/10, and would especially recommend to the black coffee / filter coffee lover.

One of my favourite cafes in Auckland. The vibes and aesthetic are immaculate. Best of all though, the coffee is consistently so delicious. League above nearby competitors. If there were tiers in cafe world this would easily be an S-tier. 100/10

Absolutely! Some of the best coffee in Auckland. The barista ‘finetunes’ his machine every hour… to create coffees with depth, balance and fascinating taste. Beans are Ethiopian. You’ll walk away ‘zinging’…

I was really impressed with both the coffee and the service. Even though there was only one staff member, she did an excellent job. Not only making a wonderful coffee, but she also greeted and welcomed every customer with a smile. I’ll definitely come back for sure!
