The place seemed nice from the photos and one of the rooms has a beautiful view, the receptionist was also nice but unfortunately the place is covered in toxic mold that made me very sick and I ruined my vacation. I would feel bad if people would keep going there and getting sick. Plus there was some sewage dump near the room causing a disgusting smell and the stairs to get there are absolutely hard to climb even for a healthy and strong person who regularly hikes and works out.

Unfortunately I did not stay at this property. My goal with this review is to leave an honest opinion of my experience that does not include sleeping in the lodge. ||*There are many stairs to arrive to the entrance to the lodge. My best calculation would be 60-80 though I did not count them. It is not by any means a place that is easy to access, especially if you have any health issues. There is NO mention of these stairs on booking.com where I made my reservation. These stairs are shared by all the places surrounding them, both below and above the lodge. However, they are in big need of a good cleaning. There is both dried and fresh poop and a strong smell of urine from the bottom all the way to the lodge. There is trash and a full pack of cookies spilled on the steps also. While the steps do not “belong” to the lodge, it is the very first impression and this impression is of a stinky dirty place with very difficult access. ||*Upon arrival, we asked to use the restroom. We were offered a bathroom to use. The sink had black bits of mold in it and the toilet was also lacking in cleanliness. While I can forgive the toilet, the mold in the sink does not grow overnight. I used the bathroom in the morning and entered again in the afternoon to see if it had been cleaned. It had not. According to the ladies in reception, this bathroom belongs to the Restraunt called Tree House. Nevertheless, if the lodge is going to direct their guests to use this restroom, they should ensure it’s clean and presentable. ||*I never entered the room. Due to the stairs and condition of the bathroom we were given to use, first, I felt very uncomfortable staying here. And, second, my friend I am traveling with is unable to climb and descend the excessive number of poop/pee covered stairs multiple times a day due to her knee and asthma. ||*The ladies working in reception are very nice, but were unable to provide any solution. I feel like there was a lot of blame shifting for things that are linked directly to the lodge, but “not theirs”. They did not refund my money, even in part, and offered no other solution.

I spent one night here. Great breakfast, perfect location. One needs to climb some steps to get here but the view is worth it. The room was clean and comfortable in the chill air at night. Breakfast included fresh fruit and eggs. I would stay here again.

Arguably one of the best looking hotels in the area. The service was fantastic in many ways. We were met at the train station and guided to the hotel. We were able to store our luggage for the day whilst we went up Machu Picchu. And anything they could do to help they did. We had rooms 3 & 4 which had a brilliant view of the mountains around from the balcony. The room was a lovely wooden feel. The only downsides to the rooms were there was a lot of windows with no curtains etc so the light came in. Also there was a lot of noise from the surrounding neighbours and animals. We took eye masks and earplugs so didn’t suffer much lack of sleep but definitely do go equipped. The breakfast was also great! It was a 3 courses including fruit, cereal & yoghurt and then eggs and bread along with a coffee. There was also a lot of steps to get to the hotel - which is how you get the views but just be aware with luggage and at altitude it is not fun.

The cabins are rustic, cute, comfy, airy and clean with nice views of the mountains and town. Staff were friendly and helpful. When we were there the restaurant was only open for breakfast which was disappointing because one of the reasons I booked the place was that the restaurant looked so nice. There are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the lodge which is fine if you’re not affected by the altitude. Ask for an upper room for a better view if you don’t mind the extra stairs. Staff were nice and helpful.

Good wifi, hot water, nice setting, easy to leave luggage. Mainly bug proof for us, and quiet as it was low season. Shower was being held up in a novel way, though, and worst was the bed and bath linen which was very old and dirty, some of it threadbare - the worst I'd experienced in Peru and not good considering the price point isn't super cheap. We disappointed the restaurant wasn't open. Breakfast basic but fine.

My family of 9, including 4 kids, stayed one night while visiting Machu Picchu. We were delighted with this establishment. It is located on a street off the main square- not difficult to find but there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to the hotel. We reserved three rooms and each one was attractive, very clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the towels were large. We also had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant- scrumptious.

Sadly this hotel is not what we expected. The photos, well staged and aimed, happily exclude that surrounding the hotel are half-finished buildings with farm animals, older buildings in disrepair, and not a square of forest. You also have to smell garbage as you walk to your room, but fortunately not inside the room. This was far from being a peaceful space.||||No housekeeping came to empty our trash and refresh towels. This usually isn't so much a big deal, but in Peru where you toss your poop-covered TP into the trash can, you really want that tossed out daily.||||A dog pooped in the center of the patio by the front gate in the first 30 minutes we were there. It stayed there for everyone to walk around for our entire two-day stay. No one at the hotel or restaurant bothered to pick it up despite walking past it dozens of times a day. It was strange, because the hotel host was fairly attentive when we asked for things.||||On the positive side, the room was comfortable and so were the beds. One of our rooms had the most gorgeous view (room 5) that we had in all of Peru. The bathroom and bedroom were clean. Unfortunately, you hear families in nearby apartment living their lives all night long, and in the morning, roosters crowing in your ear.||||The host was attentive to our needs, and we had a bunch: laundry, extra towels, extra pillows. But then we'd ask questions and be given wrong answers: e.g. we asked whether the hot springs provided towels, and the hosts said "Yes", but there were no towels at the hot springs.
