Great place to eat! The elk meatloaf was amazing!! The ramen was a little spicy for my taste, but also good. The views were also great! Would definitely recommend! 4 stars on service because it took our server a good 10 minutes to get to us. Other than that it was amazing!

Disappointing Anniversary & Valentine’s Day Dinner We dined at Rupert’s on Valentine’s Day, having made reservations in advance to celebrate both the holiday and our three-year anniversary. We were visiting McCall with friends who are local to Idaho and were excited for a special night out—unfortunately, the experience was anything but special. From the start, service was painfully slow. Our server was constantly missing, making it difficult to even order drinks. When my husband (then fiancé) finally received his Moscow Mule, it was the worst he had ever tasted. After a long wait to see our server again, he asked for it to be fixed, but all they seemed to do was add more ginger beer, which didn’t improve the taste. To make matters worse, it was served in a pint glass, which was just odd. The food was underwhelming at best. My filet was completely bland—barely even salted—and was one of the most disappointing (and overpriced) steaks I’ve ever had. I couldn’t even eat it, so my fiancé ended up finishing it. My friend also ordered the surf and turf special, requesting her steak medium rare, but it arrived medium well and even well-done in some spots. After waiting 25 minutes just to find our server again, she was told they were out of the dish entirely and had to order something else. To top it all off, the fork I received, rolled inside my napkin, was horrifically dirty. Given how difficult it was to get assistance, I ended up trying to clean it myself and just used it. At that point, it felt like too much of a hassle to ask for a new one. By the end of the meal, we were beyond frustrated. Drinks were forgotten, the food was subpar, service was almost nonexistent, and even basic cleanliness was an issue. I have never spent so much money on a meal that felt so utterly worthless. While I plan to return to McCall and explore other restaurants, I will never be back to Rupert’s.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Dining Experience at Rupert's! Our recent visit to Rupert's at Hotel McCall was nothing short of spectacular. From start to finish, every dish was a culinary delight. We began with the Bacon Ranch Shrimp Scampi appetizer - a flavor explosion that left us craving more of that delicious bacon and garlic sauce. Pro tip: Ask for extra bread to soak up every last drop! The entrees were the true stars of the evening: - The seasonal Market Fresh Fish (King Salmon) was cooked to perfection. - The day's special, Swordfish on a corn chowder, was an absolute masterpiece - I couldn't imagine a more delicious combination. - The Maple Mustard Glazed Elk Meatloaf was a standout. Incredibly moist and flavorful, paired with smoked cheddar onion mashed potatoes and bacon-rosemary gravy. A must-try for anyone visiting Rupert's. We capped off our meal with two heavenly desserts: the butterscotch pot de crème and the chocolate bomb. Both were the perfect sweet ending to an outstanding meal. Our server, Zach, deserves special mention. His attentiveness, knowledge, and impeccable timing elevated our dining experience even further. Whether you're a hotel guest or a local, Rupert's at Hotel McCall is a culinary gem not to be missed. It's clear why this restaurant is a standout in McCall's dining scene. We'll definitely be back on our next visit!

Party of 6, the section they seated us in had a party of 8 that was so obnoxiously loud we couldn’t hear the waitress. Order two drinks took a very, very long time to get them, probably 20 minutes. We all had water, had to ask for more was never offered. The food was good but not excellent. Ordered 4 ribeyes, 1 flat iron and 1 salmon 1 steak was overcooked 1 way under. The prices imply there a high end restaurant, but everything else says otherwise. For the price you would expect to take home some, didn’t do that! Went across the street for dessert. Also, very few menu options maybe 8 appetizers, 3 salads and 5 entrees.

One of the best restaurants in McCall - highly recommend adding this to your McCall dinner itinerary. Very solid cocktail menu and wine list. Lots of good staples on the menu that are always there and reliable plus they sprinkle in fun, seasonal options too. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Vibes are nice - some tables have a good lake view.

A must stop while in McCall. We had a few birthdays this month to celebrate, so why not do it at Ruperts. Also, on Friday night they do some spectacular fish dishes. Steak and wine were excellent as well. The staff is very friendly, views of the lake are special, a great dining experience.

I might have just had the best meal in my life! Hands down, Order the Elk Meatloaf! Absolutely incredible! Espresso Martini was amazing! I just can't say enough about how good Rupert's is.

We went to celebrate our anniversary and I had the tasting menu. The rack of lamb was slightly overcooked and the apricot sauce that went with it was awful. Tasted like fingernail polish remover. However my beet salad and key lime pie were quite tasty. My husband had the Elk meatloaf and really enjoyed his meal. He had the butterscotch dessert which was very good. All in all it was a good meal. Beautiful location with lake view.

My husband and I had dinner here last Saturday Night and we had a wonderful relaxing time. Our host was kind and sat us near the view windows. The ambiance was nice and quiet. The food was delicious, I had the elk meatloaf and my husband had the steak. It was so delicious I licked my plate (not literally but you get it). Would definitely recommend

So... we were honest said we are here for happy hour grabbing a drink and be out in an hour. We had a minor had to sit in the restaurant. The good: Very nice place on the waterfront. Great dirty martini $5 and the horse feather drink delish. Order the Himalayan Momos to try very interesting and good option to try something different. The bad: waitress. No personality or social skills. Couldn't even tell us the spices in the momo. If she could have thought outside of the box could've got us a mock tail for up charge. Instead spent her time chatting behind the scenes with other coworkers.

I called before making a reservation to inquire about their Friday fish special as they advertise Fish Fridays. The person who answered the phone (on Friday) said that the chef only releases the fish special on Friday mornings. For clarification, I called at around 4pm on Friday. He quickly realized it was Friday and asked me to hold while he checked. He told me the special, which was Alaskan black cod, and the preparation, both of which sounded tasty. It turns out they were. The fish was cooked to a flaky tenderness and the accompaniments were well paired. After ordering drinks and our meals, our server said to hang onto our food and drink menus. The high top bar table had very limited space so we were surprised that he didn't take them away. Our appetizer, which was the special, was burrata with cherry tomatoes, balsamic, basil, EVOO and bread. The burrata et al was tasty, but the bread was absolutely inedible. We told the runner and then had to tell our server who had the bread replaced in short order. The person who delivered our fresh bread told us that the kitchen grabbed the bread that was to be used for croutons. Really? The kitchen should have been way more on top of that. When our appetizer was delivered, we had to ask for side plates, utensils and napkins. The appetizer was just dropped on our table and the runner looked like she just wanted out of there. Those items should have certainly been provided prior to the delivery of the appetizers. We were still eating our appetizer when our entrees arrived. We're not slow eaters, so the timing was certainly off. The bartender, who was our server as we were seated at the bar upon arrival because we were told that they weren't taking any walk-ins at 5:10pm (our arrival time), should have held our dinner orders to give us time to finish our appetizer. Because we were seated at a high top bar table, the table space was limited. That's even more reason to time the delivery of the courses. After finishing our entrees, our plates were never cleared. The bartender came by and asked if we needed anything else. We simply asked for the bill. Even with the delivery of the bill, the plates still weren't cleared. Overall the experience lacked any reason for us to return.

My husband and I came here in 2015 for our 30th anniversary and we loved it. Fast forward to 2025 and our 40th anniversary. Oh my gosh! What a difference! The greeters/waiters were dressed casually which did not go with the restaurant. The couples that were seated next to us were celebrating their anniversary and were treated to a complimentary dessert with a sparkler candle. The food was substandard and no complimentary dessert. We will never go back and at least it was expensive!

Came for a date night and was able to watch the sunset at a lake view table. All the items served were excellent. We had the Flat Steak and Meatloaf and brussel sprouts. The staff was prompt and kind. We hung out afterward at the hotel lounge, which was great as well!

We didn't have reservations, but there was plenty of room at the bar area. We sat at a high top and ordered the goat cheese app. My husband ordered one of the local beers on tap and I ordered an old fashioned cocktail special. Service was quick and attentive. For the main course, my husband ordered the elk meatloaf and I ordered the Alaskan Salmon special with grilled broccoli and jasmine rice. The dish had a weird gravy that seemed out of place on an otherwise light dish. I had a little order envy. While my salmon was good, the meatloaf, was a hearty entree after a long day of skiing. It was an overall pleasant experience.

I called before we went about dietary restrictions and Chris was a huge help. He himself is celiac! The elk meatloaf is made with GF panko, the potatoes were traded out with fingerling potatoes since I can't have dairy either. We hit happy hour so enjoyed 1/2 priced martinis. The flavor of the food was amazing. Service as we got closer to 6 pm slowed down quite a bit but overall a great experience.

Beautiful dining atmosphere on the south side of Payette Lake. Discovered Elk Meatloaf is absolutely tasty with Weller 107 bourbon. Food was amazing and the service was good. Stop by when in McCall, Idaho. You won't be disappointed!

My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary today in McCall and came to Rupert's for dinner based on the Yelp reviews. We were able to make reservations for 5 pm. When we arrived, we were seated at a very nice window facing the lake, an excellent start. Shortly thereafter, a party of six were seated across the aisle from us. Their tall, dark haired, male server came almost immediately and began taking their drink orders. Meanwhile, we were still waiting. Our young female server eventually came and we declined drinks and ordered our food. For appetizers, the olives and a basket of bread. For entrees, the flat iron steak and the salmon. The steak came with mixed vegetables, including snow peas, and potatoes in a wine gravy. Very good, though one side of the steak was a little burnt. The salmon was grilled, crispy on the outside yet moist and flaky on the inside. Very tasty. It came with a vinaigrette salad and an artichoke tapenade. Yummy. Since we let them know that it was our anniversary, they brought a complimentary small brownie with a sparkler, a nice touch. I take one star away for the service. Though our server was nice, she was not particularly attentive. After she took our order, a runner delivered our appetizer and our entrees. She stopped by once to check on us and, later, brought the brownie. But, she was not around much for us. In fact, we got tired of waiting for her to come and let us settle our bill, and went to the front to pay. We found her standing around, chatting with another worker. In contrast, the tall, dark haired, male server was very attentive to the other table in our area.

Cool atmosphere, beautiful views of the lake, great service, absolutely amazing food! If you're ever visiting McCall, Rupert's should be on your eating itinerary. Plus ordering the ramen comes with an unexpected show (they pour the broth in the bowl at the table). We also ordered the Huckleberry Breeze drink (not pictured). That was SO refreshing!

It's Idaho ... Gotta have low expectations... Food was good .. service great .. Atmos nice !

A casual night out began with the whipped feta appetizer and a cold crisp glass of sav blanc. Delicious! My husband had the Elk meatloaf and absolutely loved it! I chose the wild Alaskan Salmon and it was done perfectly. Finished with huckleberry sorbet and almond cookies. Loved this little gem on the water!

Went here for the second time yesterday. Their vegetarian ramen bowl was outstanding. The broth was so refreshing and the ingredients were fresh. The meatballs were huge and had a good flavor. The lake view was nice which is another reason why I liked this place.

Decided to try Rupert's for a nicer dinner in McCall and ended up dining here for our anniversary. All courses were excellent, from appetizers to deserts. Scenery was beautiful overlooking lake, which just added to the experience. Definitely recommend.

Very nice looking place. We came here for our anniversary. Beautiful view of the lake but then they sat a table next to us and we couldn't look at the view without looking like creepers. The tables were so close together that it felt like we were sitting at a long dining table. We could hear their whole conversation and vice-versa. It was not a very romantic and a bit awkward dinner. The food was cooked perfectly and the drinks were very tasty. The staff are all friendly. Might come back but I hope there is somewhere in the restaurant we can feel a little less crowded.

Great night at Rupert's. Gorgeous view of the lake, "adventurous" food like the yak dumplings and milk and honey cocktail with Benedictine liquor. Will definitely return.

The meatloaf is epic and I get it every time we visit. The sticky cake desert is incredible. This is one of my favorite restaurants period.

Well, I was really looking forward to our meal, as we really enjoyed Rupert's 3 yrs ago. Unfortunately, it was fair at best. Brussel sprouts OK, good flavor but undercooked. The half chicken was tasty, well cooked and good sauce. The elk meatloaf was tasty. The halibut special was unimpressive and all 3 we ordered were overcooked. The one thing you cannot do with halibut is overcook it. Service was decent.

Great food and service! We'll be back again! The atmosphere is authentic and comfortable.

Great selection of cocktails and food, I ordered the Ribeye and it's was amazing. Their Brussel sprouts were so tasty we mopped up the sauce with a basket of sourdough bread. The service was fantastic and the restaurant was very clean and nice.

I'm giving it a 4 star because of the view and our great waitress otherwise it would be a 3 star in my book for lack of flavor. This restaurant is located in the historic hotel McCall which has a lot of character and is a neat place to look around before going in to Rupert's restaurant They have a very simple menu with not a ton of choices, which I think is usually how higher end places are, also Everything is all cart. Started off with Shrimp scampi. 6 Jumbo prawns in a bowl of sauce, garlic, white wine, butter, and bacon. Prawns were cooked just right but the sauce was a bit lacking, it only had a hint of butter and couldn't even taste the garlic or the wine however, there were slices of chopped bacon in the sauce which was different, but overall could have been better. Second was the Cesar salad that was flavorless. Lettuce was cool and crisp but The things I tasted most were the croutons And the pepper put on it ... even though there was plenty of dressing ( I did not have anchovies on it) Entree was Flat iron steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, tender, juicy & no fat or gristle-with an onion Demi glaze, again neither had much flavor except the pepper. It was served with Gruyère au gratin potatoes and they were great (with a little salt) creamy cheese and a nice crispy top, the mixed veggies cut julienne were lovely and flavorful cooked perfectly to alienate Our server was super sweet and timed everything perfectly. Sat by a window in the main dining room with a view of the frozen lake and it was quite nice. It's pretty noisy in there as there is an open bar area to the dining room. Overall I'm not sure about going back as the prices are up there and for that price I want an "MMMMMM" with every bite.

Service was good and flat iron steak mid-rare was good - swordfish was good to ok - cocktails and wine were fine

Great Lake views. Nice relaxing ambiance. Front desk and bar servers good. Wait server was so-so (in all fairness, there were too few waitresses for the size of the restaurant - they were very overworked). My wife's 'Medium' Rib Eye Steak was served 'Very Well Done' and the edges were charcoal. C'mon, Man. My Scallops with Cous-Cous was served somewhat cool. You guys can do better than this. We were very disappointed.

Does most of the food taste fine? Yes. Does the restaurant look nice? Yes. Is the location great? Yes. Is the place a tourist trap restaurant attracted to a hotel? Yes. The food is cook right but the chef is a little full of themself. The menu is all over place and quality varies. The website says "flavors of the Southwest, Asia, and Mediterranean" which correctly means the chef has no focus. First, skip the venison meatballs, the yak dumplings, and the elk meatloaf. They covered in too sauce so all you taste sauce. Why pay for meats you can't taste. Second, who charges for bread? And we are talking $3 for some bread roll that I'm sure was purchased at the Albertsons down the street. It says "salted butter" on the menu but the tabs look just like the tabs of butter you get for free at any other restaurant with foil removed. The "Chef's Beet Salad" is just a salad with some beets and pear put on top. for a beet salad, you really don't get beets. They won't let you order entrees at the bar. First time I've been told that at a restaurant. Cocktails are good so the bartender know there stuff. But they are no "Mixologist" as the website implies. All the cocktails on the menu are common cocktails with different names. I'm guess they think they can get away with it because they swap one brand of gin for another.

Just like a lot of the restaurants in McCall you want to make a reservation ahead of time. The menu is quite small and there are a lot of gamey items on there. Even the soup of the day was trout chowder. If you have picky eaters or someone that craves simpler palates you may struggle to order from the menu. The salads are on the small side. The beet salad is arugula topped with beets, quinoa, poached pear (canned?), And candied pecan. No saltines that is usually added (in the form of cheese) to a beet salad to balance the sweet. Note that they do add an automatic gratuity.

Very bright & sunny restaurant! Lots of natural light from the large windows & great views. Made a reservation around 6pm. We were sat right away and told the specials. Swift service, knowledgeable about the menu. Great cocktails, warm bread basket. Nice place to eat, the halibut skin was a bit chewy instead of crispy-needed only a tad bit more seasoning. The elk meatloaf was delicious, I know, cause I stole a few bites from the hubby! Would definitely come again!

One of the best meals I enjoyed in 2018, a superb combination of quality food and tremendous customer service. Looking for a place to eat on a snowy weekend night, I went to Rupert's (located within the downtown Hotel McCall at the 3rd Street/Lake Road elbow) on a friend's recommendation and left nearly three hours later realizing I had one of those unique dining experiences. When I arrived, Rupert's was about to host a private party, and wasn't seating in the main dining area this night. But the staff's warm greeting at the door included an invite to sit at the bar and eat, and I'm so glad that I stayed. Thanks to server/bartender Sam for her truly amazing customer service and interaction. She made the visit a great one with her awesome personality and energy. Hall of Fame level service from start to finish. Ordered parm fries and Himalayan Momos as appetizers - wow. The fries had great seasoning and I learned about Idaho's "fry sauce!" The momos, steamed yak dumplings with a superlative chutney, were incredible. Selected one of their chef specials with Sam's input, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. The Mahi-Mahi dish was perfectly cooked, and surrounded by an assortment of veggies that were both local and delicious, especially the lentils! It was not only tasty, but a visual masterpiece also. Thanks to Sam and Cookie from their staff on their interaction. A great meal in a wonderful downtown McCall setting, but what made the experience so memorable was Rupert's superlative customer service. So thankful I went here.

When we got sat we waited for a long time to get our drink order and then after that 15 more minutes for the drinks to arrive. After we put in our order just to see our salads be given away to the neighbor table! When we pointed out to another waiter (after he gleefully said "we are all happy now" to the other table when he offered them a house salad because he served them our Caesar salad) he was dismissive of us! When our food finally arrived, it was served cold. ALL COLD! The only nice thing about it was our server Hannah.

First of all, our server (Hannah I believe) was amazing, attentive and friendly. We had a party of 7 and half the people liked (not loved) their meal. The people that liked theirs had ordered the Cesar salad, Ramen bowl and elk meatloaf. The people that hated theirs ordered the steak and the fish. Unfortunately the two steaks were EXTREMELY undercooked as was the fish, the polenta was presented in weird fried cakes and a steak drenched in a gravy-like sauce which completely hid the cut and quality of the steak. I'd give it another try but be specific about sauces and temperature of steak.

I spent three nights at Hotel McCall during a winter visit to snowboard at Brundage. Rupert's was only open for ONE of those nights, unfortunately. Since I was flying single, I sat at the bar and had a REALLY GOOD meal (elk meatloaf) and a glass of malbec. The food, service and ambiance were all EXCELLENT.

We went to Rupert's tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday. We attempted to start with the Brie appetizer and they were sold out. We opted for the venison meatball appetizer instead. Wow, were we glad they were out of Brie! The venison meatballs were so good! I added a cup of Smoked Trout Chowder before my entree. Big chunks of trout, creamy without being heavy. So good. I decided on the Spring Risotto for my entree. Delicious! The peas were so fresh and bright. The balsamic honey glazed cauliflower that came it was out of this world. My husband had the Grilled Flat Iron Bistro Steak which was cooked to perfection. The steak came with gruyere-potato au gratin. Come on, order the dish for that side alone! The potatoes were phenomenal! The steak was tender and flavorful. You can't miss with this entree. There's a nice menu of hand-crafted cocktails and a decent bourbon menu which, (cover your ears Rupert's management) is under priced. We were fortunate to have Hannah as our server tonight. She was on top of everything and quick to answer any questions we had. It's a lovely space with lake views from a majority of the tables. In the summer, the outdoor patio can't be beat. Can't wait to go back next month when we're in town again!

I ordered the salmon it was absolutely delicious! I'd recommend Rupert's for a fine dining experience.

My DW and I stopped in for dinner this evening about 5pm. We had a reservation and it still took about 10 minutes to get seated. There was only one group of 4 ahead of us. I had the king salmon with a corn ragout & potatoes. Flavor was fine but the fish portion was smaller than I expected (I'm guessing about 4-5 oz.) My wife, who is a light eater, opted for the Shrimp Scampi and the bread basket. The small loaf of bread was delicious and the shrimp were flavorful. Cons: -very noisy place, mostly from the loud crowd in the bar area -portions could have been a tab bit larger Pros: -friendly waitstaff and host -nice views of the lake -food was flavorful

This place will always be special to me because this is where my fiancé had reservations for us after he proposed. We had the most amazing food and drinks while we celebrated. The staff were friendly and also shared in our celebration making us feel special.

Had a fixed 3 course meal for New Year's Eve. The food was some of the best I've ever had! Just wonderful service and atmosphere with an amazing view of the mountains and absolutely killer food! Highly recommend

Had dinner last night. The service was exceptional. Cocktails were excellent especially the Huckleberry one. Wine list was appropriate for the three different dinners. Two of us had the Elk Meatloaf, which I had never tripe before. While I wish there were a few more asparagus, the meatloaf meal was beyond my expectations. My wife tried the pork shank and asked for the mole on the side. While she very seldom eats very much, she ate until she couldn't eat any more and took the rest home. Taking something home or here and she really enjoyed it. The last member of the party ordered the special steak dinner and the steak was huge, cooked exactly as requested and not a crumb was left on his plate. We are locals and this is one of our restaurants of choice for meeting friends and if course date night.

Had another fantastic experience at Ruperts last night! The service was spot on and the food, delicious. We started with the polenta and chanterelle mushroom appetizer which had so much flavor! One of the best polentas I've had. I had the filet for my main course and it was cooked medium rare to perfection. My boyfriend had the pork chop and it was so tender and flavorful. We definitely recommend this as a must stop on any trip to McCall!

Rupert's food and service is consistently the best in McCall. Kudos to Gary & Chris for their high standards!

Have had dinner here twice and gone to the bar a couple of times and everything about this place is awesome. One of our favorite spots. Dinner never disappoints and the desserts are divine. Can bring your own wine for a small corkage fee of $20. The bar atmosphere is upbeat and the bartenders are all great and make the best cocktail's. Friendly staff will definitely keep returning.

Staying at Hotel McCall so had to make a reservation at Ruperts. Glad we did. Loved how they are staggering the tables during covid times. The service and pacing was excellent. We loved trying the yak appetizer, from the local yak farm. It was Thursday, so we had the Thai specials, and so glad we did. The flavorings were wonderful. Glad I asked the waitress for the entree to be extra spicy.

Very cool restaurant hidden inside the hotel . We strolled in late after a long bike ride and the service was very accommodating and friendly . We really enjoyed sitting in the garden area outside watching the sunset . We really enjoyed our food , I had the scallop risotto, really creamy and made perfect . The Venice meatballs I didn't care for . The cocktails were really good and the draft beer. I also like the old antique benches inside, they looked really old . Thanks for a great meal !

I've been to Rupert's a few times and usually they hit a homerun but last night was anything but satisfying. I ordered a seafood coconut curry, which sounded delicious, but was disappointing. Although it had sufficient scallops and shrimp, the portion of rice was toddler-sized - I would estimate 1/4 cup of rice. It really didn't constitute an entree-sized dish - more like a soup course. I'm not a big eater and rarely do I finish a meal, but after I finished this dished I was still very hungry. For $22.50 I basically got a bowl of soup. And so, I ordered a dessert - allegedly fresh-fruit crumble. Do not order this dessert if you want a crumble. This dessert was a dense, dry, flavorless chunk of cake (??) with a layer of peaches that was 1mm thick (not sure if it was peaches, but that's what I was told). There was a tablespoon (at most) of a blueberry sauce (again, not sure because it didn't have much flavor). This dessert was by no stretch of the imagination a crumble. I would never order this dessert again. It reminded me of something that I could buy at the grocery store on the day-old rack. The service was excellent.

Stopped in for some drinks to enjoy the live music on a Sunday evening, was told by a waitress that they had at least another 30 minutes left of playing. Stopped at the bar to buy drinks from a unfriendly bartender, not sure if she even said a word to us, but did make some good drinks. We had a huckleberry breeze and a bramble. Music was over in 10 minutes but we were able to enjoy the views from outside in their beautiful courtyard area.

We had our 22nd Wedding Anniversary dinner here. The service, and food was fabulous. We shared a complimentary dessert Butterscotch Pot O'Cream. I had the herbed chicken and my husband had the chickpea curry. Both were delicious. I would have given them a fifth star if they had more vegetarian offerings. We went on a Thursday evening and it was Thai night. We thought that they would have at least one special without meat. There was not, and there was no substitution for meat. So, my husband had one entree to pick from. It was delicious, but it would have been nice to have more than one choice. The view was wonderful, the service was fabulous, and our food was great too. We would go there again. We had been wanting to go for years, and finally went.
