The Best Places to Eat in 2026 | Condé Nast Traveler

"Overlooking Parramatta’s town hall, seafood and steaks kiss the open-fire grill here, with sides like roasted carrots with labneh that balance flame with freshness." - Megan Spurrell, Arati Menon

My friend and I visited Ruse Bar for dinner on a Monday evening without a booking, and fortunately it wasn’t too busy. The ambience was great, service was attentive, and the food was enjoyable. My favourites were the tuna tartare tart and the yuzu pavlova. The steak was cooked perfectly. The octopus farfalle was interesting— the octopus was battered and fried, which I didn’t expect. I think it might have been even better grilled. We took our time chatting over dessert and even stayed past closing, but the staff never rushed us, which was a lovely way to end the night.

Had a great night at Ruse Parramatta. The food was delicious and the service was even better. Jimmy looked after us and he was fantastic still laughing about the mash potato situation! We’ll definitely be back.

If you’ve lived in Western Sydney as long as I have, the idea of the type of calibre restaurant that Ruse is in Parramatta would have seemed like a bogus and ethereal idea back in the early 90s. Today, in Parramatta Square, Ruse though delivers outstanding food and service (the type you would normally expect to see in Double Bay). The food was creative and utterly delicious; albeit pricy - but you pay for quality. I would happily return here to dine again, especially for the desserts.

One of the best restaurants in Parramatta for a special occasion! The food was amazing and, even though it was busy and crowded, the staff went above and beyond with their service. 25/08/2025 I returned for my birthday and was once again impressed. I ordered the beef tartare and Scotch steak — both were delicious!

Terrible experience! This restaurant pretends to be luxury, not through quality service or fine dining, but only with ridiculously high prices. 1. It took an hour and a half for the main course to arrive! 2. The portions for starters and pasta(7 pieces pasta) were shockingly small. They even served a tiny cracker on a huge plate, which looked completely out of proportion. 3. Prices were outrageously high compared to the tiny portions and poor service. A true luxury restaurant should be about exceptional meals, attentive service, and thoughtful presentation, not just an inflated bill!

Celebrated my partner’s birthday here. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, with good food and service, though there’s room for improvement given the city-style setting. Food: The steak was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked and paired well with the fries. However, the octopus and chorizo pasta was quite salty, likely due to the combination of capers, olives, and chorizo – all strong, salted ingredients that overpowered the dish. Service: Service started off really well, with attentive staff during the initial part of the meal. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable gap after we finished our starters. We waited some time before needing to follow up about our mains, which led to a bit of a rush towards the end. This meant we had to skip dessert as we had another reservation to get to. Atmosphere: The weather didn’t help – with torrential rain and wind, we did get wet at times as the rain was being blown into our area. It seemed a lot cosier and more sheltered closer to the kitchen, so if you’re dining on a rainy day, that might be the better spot.

The experience was okay, was here to celebrate our anniversary and booked in at last minute. The staff was lovely but unfortunately most of the dishes tasted unexpected salty 😥 - especially the salad. We end up dipping the lettuce into water so that we could have it. Personally not quite understand why it is strongly seasoned. Might be an exception but won’t come again to risk myself for the unstable quality given the price too. During winter season also better to sit indoor as it’s a bit chilled in the patio.

Food was delicious. We asked couple questions to the waiter and didn't respond accordingly. The place was very lovely but maybe needs more atmosphere.
