Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you, this place is packed with quality. Great food and service along with an inviting atmosphere makes a for an enjoyable breakfast experience. We were traveling through on our road trip and got hungry around 7am and saw on google maps that this place was near our route and about to open. So glad we stopped in!

Classic, old school dinner. Nice, delicious, and big portions .(have to split it). Nice fast and friendly service. Pleased.

My team decided to have breakfast for dinner! What a novel idea. This was a place you felt comfortable dining at. I chose the Belgian Waffle, hash browns & sausage. I also chose the Cinnamon Roll but I got that to go. My team decided on a full breakfast, eggs, bacon, juice, pancakes. Liked delicious but there was no wash I could eat that much! Service was very good and friendly. If I lived here I could see myself being a regular.

Stopped in for supper last night and the food was outstanding. Was told they open at 7 in the morning and I was really looking forward to a good breakfast but they had a sign on the door saying they won't open till 2 pm. A bunch of truckers were pretty upset and several others who came in were upset that they were closed. Too bad this business don't care about profits because they lost at least a dozen people and their business. I probably won't come back after this. Sad, very sad...

Reminded me of the TV show, Alice. Was like going to Mel's Diner, with out Flo😉 The meal was well made and hot when it arrived at our table, fresh from the kitchen. Did not stay in the window long. The catfish was battered in flour, not corn meal. Different for me, but not bad. The chicken fried steak was half the plate size. Good flavor. Well seasoned and prepared. I'm not a fan of the white gravy, but the mashed potatoes had lumps. Not bad at all😊 I'll be back!

I haven't been here in a while and was looking forward to a good breakfast. I walked in, the place was almost empty. 4 people waiting to be seated. A sign saying due to staff shortage the wait times would be long. We'll yeah, if the girl won't even seat you until the table in front of you has gotten their beverages, its going to be a long wait. Not impressed. Left before even getting a table. Management needs an overhaul. This place has excellent food, but there's no excuse for lazy staff.

Nice place that I have enjoyed previously. However, last evening I stopped for early dinner while passing through town. I was overcharged after receiving bad information from waitress. The fool was incredibly bland and the dark gravy cup I paid $2 for (I was told it came with my hamburger steak) had more re-stirred surface skin than edible good gravy. I won’t be trying them again and recommend getting clear understanding of prices. The most disappointing part was their complete unwillingness to help resolve the issue.

Never have had a bad meal here. The breakfast is the best ever. Stop here every time we are in Salina. Try it out next time you're in Salina Ks!

Great food , huge portions enough for two people. I had their special today , fried chicken, gizzards and chicken livers you can eat including all you can eat salad . No way I could eat all that ! lol , all for 15.95 . Place is big just needs more lighting in my opinion and some background Music .I totally recommend this place in the middle of nowhere Kansas

Russell's was a great place to stop in and grab a bite to eat. We loved the fact that we could order breakfast for dinner! I ordered the Waffle and although it was tasty I would have preferred to have whipped cream & fruit on mine. Order the hash browns crispy & sausage links. Links were good hash browns were definitely not crispy but were still good. The cinnamon rolls were quite tasty but definitely need a cup of coffee or milk because it was pretty sweet. Service was great and I like the vibe that it was the type of diner I went to in my younger years! Although distance prevents me from going again I would be a regular at this place if I lived close by.

Russell's Restaurant is truly like a twilight zone. No, it is the twilight zone. I visited Russell's at around 2 p.m. on a Sunday in mid-July with four other guests. We were sat at a big table in the back of the restaurant immediately. I ordered one pancake, two over easy eggs and one biscuit. I drank water. I originally also ordered a cup of fruit, but our waitress advised against it, as the cup was only made with canned peaches used at the salad bar. My food was tasty, average for a diner-style restaurant near a travel center. My pancake did arrive a bit after my eggs and biscuit, which I wasn't too worried about, but my waitress took the pancake off my bill anyway. I thought this was an extremely generous offer. The restaurant was really understaffed, which was noted by a sign at the entrance of the restaurant. The sign indicated that due to short staff, bar seating was not available and guests should expect longer wait times. Our waitress also mentioned the restaurant's understaffing to us directly. One of my fellow guests asked about the soup of the day and our waitress said that because of a lack of staff, no one was able to make the homemade soups on the menu. Russell's atmosphere is really what adds to its twilight zone feel. Tables and chairs appeared right out of the '80s and small, TJ Maxx-style decor attempted to fill the bare walls. There was a portion of the restaurant near the front that was just sectioned off with black tarp. I'm not sure if this section was undergoing renovations or just in disrepair. And in the bar, two booth seats sat back to back with no table on either side. I'm assuming these were just unused seats, but it was a bit odd to see. Though understaffed, our waitress was friendly and helpful. She did openly complain about her hours and fellow coworkers with another waitress near our table, which is always a bit off-putting. My entire party visited the bathrooms and while they were clean, it did appear they were undergoing some sort of renovation or renovations had never been completed. Not sure I'd visit again but an interesting lunch experience!

Stopped there because it was convenient to the place I made a delivery to. Inside, looks like the place has been there quite a while. Server was friendly enough and efficient. Server said a salad bar trip was included in my order. Salad bar wasn't much, the lettuce bin, looked like some fresh lettuce was added to what looked like left over lettuce. The quantity of brown and browning lettuce was enough for me to pass on the salad. While waiting on my order, I heard what sounded like a microwave timer go off, then saw my food come out of the kitchen. The gravy on top of my food was steaming hot. The food under the gravy, was barely warm. Draw your own conclusion from that. The food I had was not good, it needs work, along with the salad bar. Not a place I'll go to again on my next trip out that way.

A great portion of breakfast. A lot of choices. The staff is very nice. I found the omelet can be a little too greasy but the biscuits gravy was amazing! We also had some pies, it was good too!

I would tell anyone that's in the Salina area to eat breakfast here. I'll never eat breakfast anywhere else but here while I'm in Salina. The value you get for your money here is the best in town. The amount of food on my plate was overflowing. The quality of the food was exceptional. The taste was excellent, and the service was second to none. Although the atmosphere probably isn't the greatest, the food and the people are. And that is what makes a good restaurant great. Don't go anywhere else for breakfast in Salina.

Great service and great price. Typical style coffee shop. I sat at the counter and service was fast. I ordered the vegi omelette and sliced tomatoes.. omelette was ok, nothing too special about it but it was good. I would return for another breakfast while visiting Waitress even poured me a to go coffee.... Got hooked up

Friendly fast service and very clean restaurant and give you a lot for your buck and food made to order was not rushed out fast and half assed I had a meat lovers omelette with extra cheese it was fabulous highly recommended to stop here and eat

I ate at Russell's, a bustling place this morning. I have not had a breakfast this good in a while. I had their Hunters Breakfast. It came with 3 eggs, sausage links, hash browns and the biggest waffle I've ever had. The food was SO fresh, the waffle was soft and golden brown. My hash browns were perfect, crispy and not soggy. You get enough food for two meals so I took the leftovers with me. Joni was my waitress and she was kind and efficient. When you're tired of the same breakfast, go check them out.

Russell's restaurant had excellent service. The ambience was wonderful. The food was delicious and right on point. We had no complaints about the food or the service or anything else for that matter. Prices were good and fair. We really an hour enjoyed being there and the food.

Real deal American truck stop diner. Breakfast is my favorite so I'm a little biased here and I like big portions which this place has. The menu is simple. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, and sandwich/burger options. Nothing fancy but good eating if you're hungry. I'm sure this place hasn't changed a bit since the 80's. Loved it.

This is a really excellent local spot; it's so hard to get fresh hash browns. These were called Russell's potatoes they were two layers of hash browns with cream cheese and other cheeses between the layers. I had them hold the green peppers and onions but I think that would have been good too. Then some excellent black label bacon and two eggs that were over medium even though I asked for over easy but still an amazingly delicious breakfast. Sampled a bit of the gravy off my mom's plate and it was delicious too. Good coffee good service all around a great spot.

Food was ok, not great. I was a little disappointed because the reviews had me expecting so much more. They are not very flexible. They wouldn't even add cheese to my eggs. I added 2 sausage patties that cost me $4.50 and tasted like two small hamburger patties. I would not come here again.

Food was four stars. Service was minus one. Very rude. Too bad. It was a good diner at one time.

Well another mom and pop truck stop bought out. TA is taking over. This restaurant was great with great food and service. I'm sure now that it's corporate it will go to hell. TA will probably take it out, and replace it with a couple of fast food joints. Yea let's poison the truck drivers with more garbage food.

Drove across town last Saturday night & they were closed till 5/13 for remodeling. Need to post on social media, reported to Yelp.

I've never had a bad meal. I understand that some have experienced delays due to lack of staff but I've lucked out. The salad bar is awesome and the portions are generous. I've had the morning special to return later for the chicken special that day. So check out the daily specials they may entice you or find something on the generous menu.

What a weird place. I went in today because I had been here before and had a fairly good meal and nice service. Today I went in and wanted to order an omelette with extra ham and extra cheese. Woman looked at me and said we can't do that. The only way I can do it is charge you like twice the price and give you an additional slab of ham and extra cheese on the side. I left without eating anything. You need to train your people better, and make sure that they understand that reasonable customer request should be satisfied.

Our family stopped on our way to Colorado for a late morning meal. We loved that we could order from the breakfast or lunch menu. All of our food was great! The service was a little slow; however, it looked as if they were short staffed.

The "Go-to" place for Breakfast in Salina. Lots of choices, big portions and the nicest staff you'll ever meet. You'll be overwhelmed by the menu choices so ask for help if you want the staff to assist you will recommendations. The coffee keeps pouring and your eyes keep bulging as you make your way through a very tasty breakfast! I can't wait until my next visit!

Definitely had a great vibe. Music was played at a decent volume. Didn't have to scream for you party to hear you at the table. Food was decent. Nice size portions. Drinks were good also.

HUGE portions! Breakfast was amazing! Hubby had Chicken Fried Steak and eggs and I had the veggie omelette. We both have enough leftover for breakfast tomorrow. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table but it was worth it

Stopped for breakfast in Sep 2023. Very large portions. Food was good. A little greasy. Like the old truck stops. Staff was very helpful and kept the coffee cup filled. Large sitting area. Bathroom was clean.

Food was tasty up until my first bite of hash browns when a metal twist tie that was errantly cooked into it perforated my lip and cheek. I'm sure the food is fine, but the kitchen staff needs to be way more careful to NEVER let this happen. Not coming here again.

The overflowing cigarette ashcan by the front door greeted us. Once inside, we never made it passed the entryway. A sign said to "wait to be seated" but there was no one to greet us and no recognition that we were even there. No glances or eye contact as the only worker bees seen were hurriedly slinging coffee and delivering egg platters as fast as they could. They were sadly understaffed. Poor management, dingy and dirty. After a respectable countdown, we turned around and left, grump and hungry. Outside we waved goodby to at least a hundred butts.

Restaurant was in need of a cleaning! There's a hole or tear in most of the seats. The menus were tattered and torn. Had heard that the food was good, not to impressed... didn't get et to see the kitchen but if it's anything like the rest of the place, it's probably filthy.. won't be back.

On our way home to Denver we stopped at Russell's for breakfast. There was a very short wait to be seated even though the lobby was crowded. We had the corned beef breakfast, which was very good. Our waitress was so friendly and came to check on our table a couple of times. The atmosphere is that of a diner, it's clean, lots of seating and even offers a salad bar. I will be stopping here to eat the next time I'm passing through Salina.

So pleased to have found this great place. Just what we wanted, great food, great service,. Perfectly cooked. Clean, clean! Wish we lived closer. A+ in our book of places to return to. Wish they had one in our home town in Oregon.

I'm going to have to give this one 3/5. The only reason for the extra star is because of portion size, which was good. Service was painfully slow, and our waitress only visited our table twice throughout the meal, including the order! Seems as though they're understaffed. Food was ok. Omelette was HUGE, almost too big. Pancake was plate sized. If you're hungry and not in a hurry, you'd be ok.

All day breakfast was amazing. After a long day of traveling the breakfast really hit the spot. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Highly recommend! Will definitely come back in if I'm ever in the area again.
