This was a nice stop for brunch on a Saturday. Rustic Roots is a breakfast/ brunch only restaurant. Great location. The eggs Benedict and waffle were excellent. They offered a very nice home made lemongrass tea. I was unfortunately disappointed with the bacon turkey sandwich, but I would return to try their dishes.

Google
The confit chicken and waffles dish is amazing. The homefries are probably the best I've ever had. I would love to eat this meal again and hopefully soon.

Moose Kernoff

Google
The lox scramble is amazing! Everyone at our table loved their breakfast! Will definitely be coming back here often!

Kevin MacKenzie

Google
Exceptional Eggs Benedict! Cozy restaurant with friendly staff. Definitely worth a drive to eat here.

Google
Cute and quaint! Breakfast dishes are very delicious, and the Bloody Mary might be the best I've had in the state! Prices are reasonable and portions are good. I recommend ordering two half waffles if you want to feel full, they're tiny but tasty with the whipped cream and maple syrup. Felt a little rushed by server towards end of my meal, but I took my time regardless.

Google
Great food, pleasant service, clean, modern atmosphere. Tiny tables only drawback. Make a reservation and show up on time. Great hollandaise sauce. The home fries were the star, crunchy, yet soft in the middle. The seemed deep fried, but weren’t too greasy.

Google
Excellent food! There was a smoked potato Benedict and the eggs were poached perfectly. Of course I also ordered a popover. Small place, looks like someone's house. It felt like a cozy diner inside.

Google
Love this place! Breakfast menu is interesting yet simple. Flavors are very good, even if they're a bit on the conservative side. The service is wonderful. Very happy about our first visit.

Yelp
Small place with only a few tables which is a good thing as they could use more help when full house. Pleasant service, cute decor (local artist I think). Had the full breakfast which had everything: eggs, sausage, ham, home fries, popover. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked, as was popover. Good ham. Also had grits but did not like the unnecessary truffle oil in addition to cheese. Also was too runny. Could not finish there was so much food. Not bad! Cappuccino is very good, euro style, in large cup.

Yelp
Before my 3 hour drive back home, I wanted to stop and eat some breakfast before hand. I quickly googled places open that looked good and happened upon Rustic Roots. I put my name on the waitlist and headed over there and waited in my car until it was almost time. The inside was super cute and the folks working there were all so nice! I had such a hard time deciding what I wanted and ended up getting the home fries and hollandaise with a popover because they seemed know for it. The home fries were super crispy and the hollandaise was so tasty. I want a bucket of it and still think about it now. So much food and totally worth it! It was so good! I want to bring my husband next time!

Thomas M.

Yelp
Wow! Everything we got was top notch. I ordered the Chicken Confit Salad, and it was some of the best chicken I've ever eaten! My wife ordered the pastrami, and she said that this is what pastrami should taste like. My daughters ordered waffles and crepes, which were also delicious! Great atmosphere, friendly service. I would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

Sarah B.

Yelp
Big fan of this place! Some couple told me about it and it's the hidden gem in the area! It's cozy and food comes out super hot!! I must be back!

Yuanyuan F.

Yelp
Absolutely high-quality breakfast/brunch spot in Shelburne! I've had positive experience both dining in and ordering takeouts from here. The eggs benedict and omelets here are well-made with the restaurant's special tweaks. I recommend ordering egg bennies with their pop-overs, interesting if you haven't tried before. My partner thinks their lunch sandwiches are quite unique and of high-quality. Be prepared to wait for tables and food a bit longer, particularly on weekends. I understand that they have staffing challenges (similar situation in many restaurants in the area).

Baruch K.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts I've ever had in my life. These guys did everything right and then some. I can't wait till I'm back in the area so I can go there again..

Michelle K.

Yelp
Such good, food great service, the bloody mary is a feast, love this spot and I go there again and again!

Julie S.

Yelp
They have the best food and great service!! Favorite breakfast ever!! (And amazing drinks!!)

Christine M.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and ambiance. I highly recommend checking it out for lunch. I ate at the bar and it was nice chatting with the server.

Linda T.

Yelp
Best place ever! Great food and amazing Bloody Mary's! The staff is friendly and the service is the best!

Yelp
Took my daughter and two of her closest friends to brunch here for her 25th birthday today. We've lived in the area for 5 years and have been meaning to try it but both my husband and I travel extensively for work so have little spare time at home. I read the reviews (both good and bad) and figured I would give it the benefit of the doubt. Our reservations were for 12:45 and we all arrived a few minutes late because of backed up traffic secondary to the farmers market and construction in the area. Although I was greeted very friendly initially, after we ordered drinks we got to chatting a little bit (no more than 15 mins and it was close to 1:10-1:15.) The woman who appeared to be the front end manager (who again was friendly when we first walked in) came over to the table and said " Are you ready to order? We have a reservation behind you." I was told by the server that the restaurant stops seating people at 1:30 and taking orders for food at 2. If we ordered at 1:15, how would it be possible for there to be a party after us? Furthermore, what owner of a restaurant would have someone like that running the house? I saw the reviews about this behavior and assumed maybe it was just the kind of people who are impossible to please. That was not the case because we experienced the same. Our brunch was $142 and the food wasn't worthy enough to go back after that. I would strongly suggest you try the Inn at Shelburne Farms for brunch instead!

Cecilia H.

Yelp
Best brunch place! Hollandaise, popovers and Bloody Mary among if not the best I've had. Super cozy! As local as it gets.

John F.

Yelp
Quaint little brunch place that was fun and delicious. The highlight start was coffee with maple syrup! My first experience and it was really good! Try it! Nice menu items to choose from too. It's a really quaint place with a bar too that can help start the day.

Kim H.

Yelp
Amazing Sunday brunch! There were 12 of us and they did a wonderful job with the drinks and delicious food. It's such a treat to dine at Rustic Roots.

Rosemary S.

Yelp
What an incredible little spot. I got the feeling this place is well known by locals as it was pretty busy on a Friday at noon. The brunch food was amazing; your normal breakfast options but always with a unique twist on the ingredients that elevated the flavors. I really appreciated the extensive drink menu, the quintessential Vermont flair in decor, and the friendliness of the staff.

Hanna P.

Yelp
I found this place on Yelp because my family is town visiting Vermont and the Lake Champlain area. I called ahead to make a reservation for my family, and they were very accommodating for a larger group. The interior is absolutely adorable and displays an eclectic bar area. The staff were very friendly and patient, and the food was to die for! This place is known for their popovers and they did not disappoint! They come out warm and flakey with fresh herb butter, and are also featured on the side of several dishes. We tried the goat cheese crepe, eggs benedict, and turkey sandwich among other dishes. I would recommend requesting the eggs benedict over popovers, it was exquisite. I will be coming back my next time in Vermont.

Sharron S.

Yelp
The food was outstanding - wonderful popovers, the most amazing hollandaise sauce, and beautifully cooked eggs. Truly a delight! Be prepared to wait for a table, even if you have a reservation, as they have limited staffing and the tables aren't able to turn over as quickly as anyone would like. In this Rustic Roots Is no different from any other restaurant in Vermont! However, the wait it worth it. We started with popovers and beverages which were divine. Then we tried traditional eggs Benedict (outstanding!), the scrambled eggs with Lox (creamy and delicious), the goat cheese and spinach omelette (perfectly cooked) and the short rib sweet potato hash. Very thing was delicious and perfectly cooked. The hash browns were crispy and phenomenally flavorful. Our son (19) thought the portions were too small but after eating half my eggs and lox and hash browns he seemed fill up! My only quibble is the cost of toast. $2 for one slice seems a bit outrages. The cost is the same for a popover which is made to order. Considering the effort required for the former, two slices of toast would make more sense! Or, just go with the popover. They are wonderful regardless!

Yelp
Send me on my way. Send me on my way. With a fully belly. Rustic Root delivered the goods. Better than the band.

Foodie P.

Yelp
Cute cafe with thoughtful brunch fare and wonderful service. Their mainstay popovers and home fries are cooked a bit too dark brown for my silky liking--better for those who prefer crunchy over silky texture.

Doug C.

Yelp
Funny thing it's not the food why we won't be back. Food is great. Culture is bad. Gave this a second try for an early Father's Day. First time could of been a fluke and my wife wanted to give a second shot. We won't be back. Hostess or manger type who was running the show and was openly rude to her staff/ coworkers which irked us but could of just been having a bad day. No biggie until she asked us to hurry up and finish while my wife and I still had food in front of us (and she had 3/4s of an $18 drink in front of her). Crazy to spend what we spent on nice brunch and be super patient waiting for our food (which came super late) only to rush us out the door and have to listen to her being awful to coworkers and patrons. If it was a short order dinner, or some mediocre restaurant - maybe would give them 3 strikes. 2 is enough for me at this price point. Too bad. They definitely have a skilled chef running the back of the house. Front of house needs work.

Yelp
I've been here for breakfast twice and I really don't understand the hype. The atmosphere is really cute and the service is great, the food is just not my cup of tea. Everything tastes like it's been cooked in bacon grease... a bit overpowering for me. Edited to add: maybe hype was the incorrect word to use here, I have several friends who love your restaurant. However, that's why I stated it wasn't MY cup of tea and said y'all had great service. Unfortunately, in hospitality industry you can't please everyone's preferences. The point of Yelp is to give feedback so maybe people with similar preferences to mine, an aversion to smoked pork, can know how to properly order food from your establishment. It had been a year in between experiences so I couldn't exactly remember what it was that I didn't like, hence why I encountered the same issue twice, otherwise I would have ordered accordingly. Over 50% of my reviews are 5 stars, less than 9% are 2 stars... I try to be fair in my reviews and highlight the good and bad from my personal experiences/preferences. Your snarky reply just ensures I won't be returning.

Mary Ann F.

Yelp
Awesome brunch! Friendly staff. Next time I will bring my husband. He would love the menu.

Angela N.

Yelp
Cute spot - good food. If you blink you may miss the restaurant - looks like a yellow house. So many options to consider but we ended up with the blueberry lemonade (made in house - a tad sweet for me but good), steak sandwich, maple-bourbon turkey sandwich (delicious with the Brie and bacon), and grilled stone fruit salad. Only negative - while the flavors were delicious with the steak sandwich, the cut was tough and difficult to eat for the teenage boys and adults. Boys enjoyed the Nutella & Banana crepe, as well as the summer berry streusel crepe. Very large portions and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Katie M.

Yelp
Yummy, large portions and good coffee! Quite small, so make a reservation if you can.

Olivia H.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch on our way to Stowe. Very clean. Very friendly. Good vibes. And fantastic food! Had 'The Bloody' with the local cucumber vodka and it was delicious! For lunch, we ordered the pumpkin soup with a popover, chicken confit, and maple turkey bacon sandwich. All 3 dishes were so awesome that me and my husband ended up just sharing everything because we wanted to share the goodness!

Linda G.

Yelp
Wow. Very good. We went for dinner. I got salmon w brussel sprouts. Both other people got the mushroom burgers and loved them. They surprised us with popovers with herb butter inside. Great one. What a treat. Banana nutella crepes for dessert, everything was perfect. Our waitress had worked there for a month, and we felt she was too familiar, and didn't take cues when we wanted to stop talking with her. She overshared information about her previous job and the management problems she had there. We will definitely return.

Egglefield M.

Yelp
We have had brunch there twice. Food was very good, the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon were excellent and the turkey sandwich was good (but not great). At another visit, the eggs benedict were very good. Service is VERY good and the manager is very friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee was nothing special. Recommend reservations as they can get quite busy.

Jessica D.

Yelp
What a lovely gem this restaurant is! We just so happened to be starving and drove by at the perfect time. We weren't sure what to expect but it's very cozy, updated and cute on the inside. All of the staff were incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in. I ordered the eggs benedict and my boyfriend ordered the breakfast in Jersey. The benedict was absolutely delicious and the breakfast potatoes were so perfectly crispy! My boyfriend enjoyed his sandwich but said there was too much bread and he wasn't a fan of the burlap bacon. I tried it and thought it was delicious though (he's a little more picky). Either way, I would definitely stop here again if I'm in town! Everything was fairly priced as well.

Laura P.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. We were traveling/camping near by and found this spot online. We ended up eating here twice! We lucked out and got a table both times, but it's a small space and it fills up. They take reservations so that's probably the way to go. Service was great. My favorite meal of our visits was the rustic breakfast. Loved how the scrambled eggs were cooked, the popover and home fries were tasty and I loved the sausage. I also had the baked pancake. Super tasty but filling. I would recommend it being ordered for the table to share and not as a main dish. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again!

Todd S.

Yelp
delicious breakfast, great service, great location popovers are amazing must order! very easy to make reservations -- which I highly recommend especially on weekends

Al W.

Yelp
Looking for a place to eat before touring Shelburne Farms we picked Rustic Roots based on proximity and its excellent reviews. We soon found out it's a popular place and the reviews are warranted. The restaurant was busy, so we chose to sit all 4 at the bar. This allowed us to the very good team hustling non stop to get food and drinks to customers and prep for the next rush. They were friendly and very hardworking. For our entrees, we chose the kale salad (massive), the pastrami sandwich, turkey sandwich and being a fan of eggs Benedict I went with the house favorite. Ever dish was well prepared and presented beautifully! For libations we relied on the staff for local VT beer recommendations which paired well with our meals. Great team, great food; kudos to the husband and wife team running the restaurant.

Noah G.

Yelp
If you like brunch, this is the spot for you! The interior was charming, small and inviting. There was a mix up with reservations, but the staff were quick to resolve the issue and get us seated, now for the food...We got the baked apple pancake for the table. It was massive, fluffy, and not too sweet. The popovers were perfectly fluffy and eggy but what really caught my attention was the homemade marmalade. Its SPECTACULAR! Spiced perfectly to balance out the sweet and tangy flavors. the maple coffee sausage wasnt spectacular, but certainly not bad. My main dish was the monte cristo. It was amazing. Very filling, loaded with thick cut ham and rich local cheese! 10/10 would recommend!

Jeni F.

Yelp
Patience is rewarded with wonderful food and chill atmosphere. Stopped on our way home from vacation due to a Yelp review calling the place hip and trendy . We were not disappointed. Tattooed manager made us feel at home despite being full to capacity and assisting the bartender and waitresses. The food was so worth the wait . Fabulous Bloody Mary's with mad crazy toppings ! The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was on point , perfect blend of flavors . OG eggs Benedict was flavorful and perfectly cooked . Service was friendly and attentive from our fabulous freckled ginger waitress ! Definitely make this a stop on your trip through Shelburne .

Debra T.

Yelp
It was quite delicious! Loved the choice of popovers! Everything was fresh and delicious! I had the Eggs Benedict and my husband had the Rustic breakfast with a yummy pancake on the side!! Would come back again and again!

Peter E.

Yelp
Service was decent, although there was some sense of wanting you to finish and get on your way--which is understandable in such a small restaurant. The food was adequate, but fell short of my expectations which were based on the menu descriptions. I'm sure many enjoy this decent breakfast/lunch establishment, but I was not overly impressed on my last visit, although the experience was positive enough to warrant another try. I'd like to rate it 3.5 stars, a bit of granularity here would be helpful.

Laura S.

Yelp
Such a gem. The food was delicious. I was appreciative of our waitress giving us the inside about what's happening around the area that weekend. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy our meal.

Lesley J.

Yelp
My first time here for breakfast. The menu was excellent as was breakfast. They make a lot from scratch including the pop overs and burlap bacon. If you like ginger the beet ginger fizz was incredible! The staff also were extremely attentive and very friendly.

Rose T.

Yelp
Cute little place, nicely decorated, cozy atmosphere. Food: Eggs Benny, one of my favorite staple breakfast dishes- overall ok. Poached egg was a bit under creating a less appealing egg white that was runny. Hollandaise had a bit too much lemon for my taste. Beautiful presentation, however. Potatoes that came as a side were nicely seasoned. Veggie burger- bland and slightly dry. Great concept though. Curried squash soup - what curry? Basic squash bisque, nothing special. Service was good.

D G.

Yelp
Excellent quality and unique offerings Charming atmosphere What Vermont is all about!

Marcia B.

Yelp
We just stumbled on this ch and went in to check it out. Great service, great food (breakfast all day) great ambience. Next time, I plan to try their Bloody Marys. Have tried the Bloody Marys: my father has always made the greatest bloody Mary's on the planet....until now. Spices made with their own home made smoked combination and beautifully served.

Sasanka P.

Yelp
Came here with a group of 9 for brunch. Definitely reserve ahead of time because there was always people waiting to get in. Theres a parking lot in the back that can fit about 10-15 cars Food was delicious. I ordered the rustic breakfast. A very buttery and perfect popover. My friend had a bloody Mary that he was racing about. The service was excellent! Definitely will be back here next time I'm in the area

Brenda O.

Yelp
The food here left us speechless in the best of ways. We each tried a savory dish- the quiche and the mushroom omelette- and then we tried the banana french toast to share. The quiche was flavorful and surprisingly airy. It also came with a dressed side salad which was crisp and fresh. The mushroom omelette was delicious and came with crispy potatoes. The banana french toast was just the right amount of sweet. The staff was so friendly and accommodating - we called beforehand to change our reservation time and they were very gracious about this change! This place is an absolute gem!

Rich S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late breakfast and was quickly seated at the bar. Nice quant surroundings, and it was fun to hear the staff welcome the majority of the people entering by their first names. Clearly this is a popular place with the locals. The ice coffee was above average, great taste (not watered down). I got a spinach and bacon omelette home fries and a popover. The omelette was outstanding, really fresh, fluffy and perfectly cooked! The home fries were just ok, a little dry and no real flavor. The popover was a little over cooked so the outside was a little too crunchy and dry. Service was superb but the place could use a good deep clean. Sitting at the bar I had time to stare at the nooks and crannies that could use a scrub. As always wish I could give half stars I would give a 3.5 based on potential. The good here outweighs the average, there is NO bad here. If I'm in the area I will return, the omelette, coffee and service would be worth the trip.

Katie C.

Yelp
I stopped in here to pick up breakfast sandwiches, so we didn't sit down for food-- but I wish we had! It's so cute & cozy inside and their bloody mary's looked delicious. The sandwiches were substantial and the service was excellent & incredibly friendly (especially when I had to call back a second time to ask if they could actually hold off on making the sandwiches because we wouldn't be arriving for another 30 minutes to pick them up). Would love to go back next time we're in VT for a full brunch experience.

TheBrunchBunch ..

Yelp
This was our first time here! It was small and quaint, the staff was very welcoming and helpful! We all had the mocha to start, and it was MAGICAL, a perfect blend of coffee and chocolate. We tried the Eggs Benedict, Shirred Eggs (bacon and mushroom) and the rustic breakfast. The coffee maple sausage was dreamy! Also, the herb butter? To die for! (Don't be lame and ask for plain) the homemade marmalade was so good too! If you're looking for local eatery with a amazing atmosphere, and scrumptious food. This is the place to be! #thebrunchbunchstrikesagain

Catherine M.

Yelp
This place is wonderful! Was visiting in the area & saw some great reviews so we went for a late lunch. I had the chicken liver mousse. It was outstanding, it also included a boiled egg that my husband enjoyed. The mostarda was fantastic with the mousse & rye toast. The hand made potato chips were thin, crisp, salty perfection. The restaurant is small & busy. Our server was prompt though our lunch did take some time to prepare.

Mike W.

Yelp
This is our first visit to Rustic Roots and we had a fantastic meal. We sat at the bar and it couldn't have been a better meal and experience. The entire staff was first rate. I didn't meet the chef but if i did, i'd give them a huge hug. I had the Breakfast in Jersey sandwich and my wife had the Rustic Breakfast. All stellar!

Caroline M.

Yelp
What a cute little place! It was great to find an excellent brunch spot outside of downtown Burlington. Service was very friendly, homey farm-like ambiance was welcoming and intimate. Love the creativity in cocktails and the food was absolutely fantastic! Some of the best hollandaise I've ever had and the popovers were to die for. Can't wait to go back!

Maria B.

Yelp
This is a small place. Expect to wait if you come during "prime times". I came before lunch primetime and all tables were already occupied. They have a small bar, and actually have a liquor license here too. They have Titos vodka, and organic Praire gin along witb some other regional options and of course some of the usual suspects. The menu is small and they serve breakfast all day. They are open some evenings for dinner as well I gather. But focus is breakfast and lunch. I had their popular breakfast option that included eggs, breakfast meats, potatoes and a popover. The eggs were poached without hesitation, and poached really nicely. The breakfast meats were good, I much preferred the sausage to the ham. The popover was great. The service was good and attentive. I can see why this place is so highly rated. Parking in back.
