Yelp
Its a solid restaurant. My family loves it, but I would be happy to skip it. Service is always solid and they do a few things very well, others are completely forgettable.
Items we like: Fried Calamari, chicken fried steak, shrimp and grits and the complimentary bread.
Things that are mid: Po Boy - clams are good, but the bread is too heavy. Mashed potatoes tasted like a (poorly seasoned) mix this year, despite having chunks. Crab cakes - looked pre-made and didn't really have any flavor. The french fries are nothng special, but were served hot and crisp. IMHO, some really good onion rings would be far better suited to this place. Clam chowder - great flavor, but appeared to have sat on the soup station a bit too long. It definitely had that browned hue that soup gets when kept warm too long.
Things we didn't like: stuffed flounder.
Things that should never be ordered: Alligator bites. These were the "popcorn" version with absolutely no detectable meat. The sauce served with the bites was delicious, however.
All in all, a neat local place, in a great location, with friendly service. Food is slightly above average on a good day, but is priced accordingly. For the price, there are other compelling options. But if you stick to the things they do well and like the vibe (and it is a good vibe), you could do far worse.
Without alcohol and desert, expect to pay $50-$60 a person.
