One of the most scenic views in the city is from the public courts at Ruth Hardy Park. If you time it right, you can catch some pretty intense octogenarian pickleball.

There is no zipline. The slides are plentiful. The swings are good but squeaky. Beautiful Mountain views and ample fields. Sometimes an ice cream cart.

I love this playground. Plenty of space for all ages and all activities. Nice and clean!!!! Easy parking. Clean bathrooms.

It felt like a miracle! While out for a morning walk on a holiday, I suddenly needed a restroom, and luckily, I remembered spotting a building in this beautiful park. Not only was the restroom open, but it was clean with flush toilets, what a relief. The park itself is lovely, with shady walking paths, large grassy areas, tennis courts, a playground, and even a wellness park with exercise stations. I also spotted Cary Grant’s former home and Harold Lloyd’s home in the surrounding Movie Colony neighborhood, all while passing by dog walkers, joggers, and kids enjoying the playground on Thanksgiving Day.

Google
This neighborhood park is super clean and definitely dog-friendly. It has a basketball court, a great playground for the kids, and plenty of picnic tables. There’s also a lot of grassy areas to relax or play in. It’s the perfect spot for a family outing or a casual stroll. A great, well-maintained park for everyone to enjoy!

Google
A really nice and well maintained grassy park in the center of Palm Springs. Great for walking, dog walking and dog play, and tennis. There are 8 tennis courts, but no pickle ball courts (sorry!). There is a nice playground, basketball court, plenty of free parking (on and off street), picnic tables, and public restrooms. We like to take afternoon walks around the park, and through the mid-modern historic neighborhood that surrounds the park. Great mountain views from the park, too!

My wife and I absolutely loved this little gem of a park in downtown Palm Springs. Beautifully laid out and full of varieties of plants and trees, it's a delightful place to go walking or just relax on the expanse of grass. Definitely will visit again.

Google
Very nice park that is well maintained. Fairly large and we liked walking our dog there. They do have a playground for kids and tennis courts.

Yelp
It felt like a miracle. Out for a morning walk, after an hour I suddenly needed a restroom on a holiday. I remembered seeing a building in this beautiful park, and I was right-not only was the restroom open, but it had clean flush toilets. What a relief. Myriad walking paths crisscross the shady park with large green grassy areas. It also borders a wellness park with exercise stations. The park has tennis courts, a playground, and of course, restrooms. I located Cary Grant's former home, as well as Harold Lloyd's home, in the Movie Colony neighborhood surrounding the park. There were lots of dog walkers, kids in the playground, and joggers out on Thanksgiving day.

Yelp
Ruth Hardy Park has quite the reputation around Palm Springs.. Ask the locals and they will tell you what it is

Yelp
Ruth Hardy Park is a decent park; it's public and has walking trails, a large grassy area, a basketball court and tennis courts. Tip: The park is named is part of the City of Palm Springs. It was named for Ruth Hardy, a founding city council member of Palm Springs The park is dog-friendly, and has plenty of grass :-)

Yelp
Very calm big park in the heart of palm springs, loved walking along the sidewalks of this park during my stay here

Yelp
Clean, safe park with lots of green space to walk our pup around. Lots of parking available as well.

Yelp
Located at 700 Tamarisk Rd in Palm Springs, in October 1967, The Groovy Show filmed episodes at Hardy Park that aired that same month on KTJ=TV, Los Angeles. The Sopwith Camel and Strawberry Alarm Clock appeared, and Michael Blodgett was the host.

Yelp
Great park. We stop at this park to walk our dog every time we are in the area. Well kept, clean & safe.

Yelp
First time coming to this park on a Monday to attend an outdoor workout class. IT WAS GREAT! Plenty of parking and the park is so well maintained. Sure beats any City of Los Angeles parks. Most are just awful in need of a major power wash, repair and replanting. The workout class is free and being organized by a World Gym trainer. Plenty of space and social distancing in this time of Covid. Most wear their masks to arrive and remove them once the are in their socially distant spot. Bring a towel or mat and plenty of water and get ready to dance and workout with like minded people of all ages and fitness levels.

Yelp
Nice park, except they unnecessarily trim the trees, or should I say "hack" the olive trees on the south/ east sides were just looking good, then today they started chopping live branches off them. This is not good for the environment too much green stuff going into landfills, also we need the trees to clean the air, not to mention shade! It's as shame they don't have arborists to guide them. I love trees and it's a shame that so many people think that trees need human help lol.

Yelp
Such a nice large park with a large open grass area that could be used to play soccer. They have a kids playground area, a volleyball area, a basketball area, and tennis courts. Oh, and lots of free parking too in their parking lot. The only reason I'm deducting a star, is because they should add a shaded area over the playground. After all, this is Palm Springs, a hot desert area!

Yelp
Great place, very clean and well kept! Most people figure out after being in palm springs more than 2 days that the city has a HORRIFIC homeless population and that is due to the past corrupt city council. It slowly is getting better. This park is very well maintained and you rarely see any homeless there. The tennis courts are clean and plenty! The playground is robust and full of stuff for kids to enjoy. My favorite time to enjoy the park is when I walk my dog. Here is the minus 1 star aspect: The bathrooms can be creepy ( the men's side) for obvious reasons,. You can figure out what is going on in there and if you are walking around the edge of the building you can hear the play going on in the bathroom. Otherwise, it is a great park

Yelp
A centrally located dog friendly green space with several well maintained tennis courts. I've played here a few times and in the late afternoon/early evenings you can often have the courts to yourselves, but in the morning watch out - it's super busy! We were out there by 8 am and every court was packed...

Yelp
such an beautiful spot to play tennis and half an nice picnic. i definitely recommend this spot

Yelp
I needed a fun playground to burn down my grandaughter's energy before putting her to bed. Despite the 100 degree heat at 7:30 pm the collection of slides at this playground is awesome!!! The park is well kept. A little trash in a few spots, but nothing deserving removal of a star. There are a lot of great activities to do for kids of all ages, and the open green space with so many trees to ret/hide from the sun are SOOOO welcoming in the PS summer heat!

Yelp
Ruth Hardy Park is a perfect place to take a relaxing stroll with your dog, or take the kids outside to get some good playtime in :-) Tip: There's a paved path that goes all around the edge of this park which runs about one and a half miles There's also a volleyball court, some tennis courts, and a basketball court; so what are you waiting for - come on down! ;-)

Yelp
Who knew that a park could get a Yelp review?? I stumbled on the listing and just had to comment about 2 of the negative reviews posted here. I've been going to Ruth Hardy nearly every day, for 5 years, with my dog - usually in the morning, but sometimes in the late afternoon. I have NEVER, EVER noticed cruising men or "sketchy" people, although occasionally a homeless person may be sitting harmlessly on a bench. And, in case you may think me naive, I DO know what cruising looks like. I've met wonderful folks at Ruth Hardy, with their dogs or children. Everyone is friendly, polite and considerate of others. There are seniors playing tennis, and they are always equipped with treats for the passing dogs, and younger folk watching their kids play on the jungle gym equipment. Local fitness trainers often hold classes under the shade of the trees. Even the groundskeepers waive at you as you pass. There are often community events . . . fairs, picnics, 5k runs, bicycle races . . . held at Ruth Hardy. This is a beautiful, well-maintained and sociable, family-friendly park.

Yelp
We were biking around Palm Springs and happened upon this large park near downtown; what an unexpected treat! It's dog friendly, and there are tennis courts, and a large playground, which our kids loved. Pretty views of the mountains. A nice spot to take a break and let the kids run around and play!

Yelp
I love love this park , but please clean the benches near the playground . Please be careful ! There are black widows all over this park , under the benches and the restrooms. I'm really worried for the children . Double check before you sit down at a table or bench . Overall I love playing tennis here and the park is beautiful. I just hope something is done with the spider situation.

Yelp
A beautiful park including sports courts and grass areas for adults/older kids and a great playground to take your young kids so they can run around and expend some energy. Lots of slides, several swings, etc. Ample free parking.

Yelp
Open space, tennis courts, bright sun, green grass, palm trees, San jacinto mountains. Enjoy. Amazing.

Yelp
Very large park with lots of space to get a soccer game or football game going with friends. I've been coming here since I was a kid and still enjoying breaking ankle on the basketball courts and serving them aces up on the tennis courts. Always enjoy coming to this park to serve up the L's.

Yelp
We were visiting and wanted to play tennis with my brother on his Birthday. Went to the courts and the elderly gentlemen was super rude. The thing is we were just standing outside and did absolutely nothing. We told him we were just reading the signs of the rules here and he didn't want any of it.... great way to kick off my brothers birthday jerk. Residents here are really mean.... if you vacation here, just stay indoors.

Dave M.

Yelp
Lots of tennis courts, but the elderly men on the pick up court are the most unfriendly group of tennis players I have ever met. Old fuddyduddies.

Yelp
It a place to bring your family to have cook out play game with the kids they have a playground for the kids the dog will love it tennis courts
google avatar

Frank B.

Yelp
I like this park. Tough to get tennis courts in the morning but we got some at 4 pm one week day. Good parking. I like the court dividers for tennis. As you can tell I only checked out tennis courts at this park.

Yelp
Seems like a nice place to take my dog and have visited several times. Agree with other Yelpers, do not like dogs off leash. Also, many people do not clean up after their dog which is gross. Children and adults want to play in an area where they don't have to worry about dog feces. As a female I went to the bathroom, and no problem. But would not let child go unattended to any bathroom, not just once at Ruth Hardy. It is a nice park, you just have to be alert, like you do anywherr re now.

Yelp
Located just by downtown Palm Springs, this is a nice largish park with a big playground for kids (good for young toddlers), tons of swings, a huge grass area to run around in and even a jogging trail and (apparently) a cardio/weights section (though I haven't found it yet). The park also offers tennis courts, beach volleyball area and a basketball court. A really nice break from all the touristy stuff going on in the area.
google avatar

Kelly P.

Yelp
I loved this park for taking a leisurely walk with the dogs. Paved walk around the perimeter is about 1 1/2 miles. There's also an area where you can weave in and out between trees and flowers. It was populated but still plenty of parking on the weekend. We go every time we're there!

Yelp
Really glad to have this great park, dog walking area and tennis courts walking/biking distance to my place, framed by many historic and old-time-celebrity homes. Well maintained, with diverse and friendly people, and that what makes Palm Springs great! Take a whole lot of the "gay sex stuff" mentioned on here, with a great big grain of desert salt. Yeah...it WAS a problem, and involved a lot of down-low/"straight"/married (you get the picture) men in the LONG AGO pre-grinder/scruff cyber-hook-up days. Not a real problem, today. This ah....Rev. Leo, person???? Um....leaves a very homophobic and inaccurate posting about this park, relating to the gay community, yet has reviewed EVERY gay bar in the desert, right down to temperature, lighting and acoustics? What ever!?! Overall, Ruth Hardy Park is a very pleasant place to spend some time. I wish the parks in LA were this nice.

Raymond J.

Yelp
Love this local park. Use it almost daily. Sponsors should better supervise operation of equipment, non-operative for two years (upper body machine with handles). Dog poop an issue with irresponsible owners. I would never lie on the grass. We walk our dogs on the street only and we pick up.
google avatar

Anthony A.

Yelp
Nicely maintained, with a beautiful herb and health garden and some excellent free Tennis facilities. My dog loves it here too!!
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
The best park to walk the dog and smell and see poop everywhere the dog drama here is intense if you have a small one have ur game face on

Yelp
I love Ruth Hardy park walk my dog here nearly everyday. There are a lot of gay men cruising, but it is Palm Spring there are gay men cruising everywhere. My kid loves the playground, there is lots to do. There is a volley ball, basket ball, and tennis courts. A lovely rose Garden and is adjacent to wellness park, featuring a small trail that leads you through a trail of light exercises and equipment great if your trying to teach your kid about exercise and being active. Also they have a nice fragrance healing garden as well as a peaceful meditation circle. I have though also seen some inappropriate behavior there by the fountain near the meditation circle, and never use the bathrooms there.. Really guys?? get a room, take it somewhere else. All in all I think it's a great park lots of space to play BBQ or walk your dog. A lot of people don't have their dogs on leashes and I don't like that. Don't let your kids use the bathroom unattended. A public park is not a babysitter you can't just set them free here, there's lots of dogs not on leashes there is no fence around it and anyone is welcome, as is the whole world. Just keep your eyes on your kids and they will be fine.

Vi B.

Yelp
My dogs and I enjoy Ruth Hardy Park, very well maintained , nice to see families enjoying the many variables the park has to offer. What I don't understand is our community does offer dog parks, for those who enjoy letting there dogs run free, so please be considerate for the dogs that are on a leash, as it is stated throughout the park.

Jim W.

Yelp
Lots of tennis courts. Must get there by 7 AM PST to ensure getting a court. To get on a court, one must sit on the court that you want to play on. The players that are on court can only play one set and then allow the people waiting play next. Doubles take precedence. A plus - We've run into several people at the park with dogs. Everyone is very nice and the dogs are well behaved.
