Rutherford's Punting Cambridge

We enjoyed a beautifully relaxing and informative punt along the Cam. Our guide, Herbie, brilliantly explained local history, traditions and tails from the university. He gave us information in an enjoyable manner, making us laugh and engaging in conversation. My only gripe is time seemed to fly and 50 minutes was over far too soon.

This was an excellent experience. Our guide, whose name escapes me, but he was south African, was very knowledgeable and supplied a stream of historical facts, anecdotes and one liners throughout the trip. Worth every penny despite the rain! 😁

Shared punting at £20 per head is excellent value. You get so see a lot of beautiful architecture and learn some interesting facts along the way. We took a bottle of fizz onboard to enjoy. Just bear in mind there is no guarantee you'll get a seat next to a partner as this is a shared experience; unlike one silly woman who kicked off before the trip because she had to sit opposite her partner and forfeited her tickets in a strop. Worked out lovely for us as we got extra spare 😂

The punt tour around Cambridge was such a brilliant experience — peaceful, scenic, and full of fascinating history. Our punter, Jack, was friendly, knowledgeable, and had the perfect mix of humour and insight. He made the tour really engaging without overloading us with information, and his storytelling added a lot to the whole experience. A lovely way to see the city — would highly recommend!

Great value for money at £20 per person. Relaxing 50 minute trip along the river Cam, with our punter Matt, who did a stirling job of pointing out all the beautiful buildings, places of interest, with added bits of history, with just the right amount of interaction. I went on the punting ride on 4th April and was lucky to have Joe as our punter. He is definitely a professional—so friendly, charming, and knowledgeable! The ride was totally worth the price, and I would definitely love to go punting again. Highly recommended!

John was great, very complimentary of the Rutherford family! Great historical knowledge with current relevance and banter to keep it light. Lots of companies on the river and we felt glad we made the choice to go with this one. Boats were comfortable and we even left with a great pub recommendation! Thanks

Incredible tour and boat. Not all crammed together like other boats. Super comfortable and with a table, blankets and umbrellas if needed. Best price too. This is the one you want to book!

This was an amazing experience and cheaper than the competitors. We booked £30 for two people and had about an hour long experience on the river Cam with amazing insights into the bridges, colleges, town, you name it. Our tour guide was phenomenal. It was a bit cold but they provided blankets which were nice. I liked that our guide had a different speech/ info for the way back than we had on the way there. Overall it was well worth the money and this was the highlight of my trip to Cambridge.

We had a great experience with Rutherford Punting. We made our reservation online, checked in at the stand, and started our trip with our amazing guide, Charlie. He was knowledgeable, charming, funny, and overall a great leader. All the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
