Yelp
We dined here after seeing positive reviews in our local social feed. it's very local and although the menu seemed basic, decided to give the newbie a go. the service was warm and attentive which I very much appreciate.
The decor is basic although they've obviously invested a lot in it. We were seated by the wall at a two top. the LED light gave off an uncomfortable glow. Perhaps some candles to soften the harshness? Perhaps replacing those lights with the ones within the banquets? I dunno, I guess it's fine, but not so cozy.
We had cocktails to start. mine was a vodka tonic. it was generous. My husband had a whiskey sour in a wee but chic little stem. We both started with the Greek salad. It was the highlight of the meal. Small slivers of the last of the summer tomatoes nestled on top of a whipped feta, cucumbers, minced olives or capers and parsley in a nice vinaigrette. No lettuce (which is fine but for $15, this is more like a small side salad).
The menu is quite basic. Burgers and some sandwiches and some mains, apps. Fine again. They said they were to intro daily specials as well as change the menu to reflect the season. I had a grilled cheese with tomato jam. My husband had the battered fish. Neither of these came with a side so our server suggested fries and that we order the individual portion versus the sides for value reasons at $11( you get more than two sides for $5 each)8. My sandwich was a whopping $14 for some cheese melted on top of the small end of a miche, a few thin slices of tomato perhaps masquerading the tomato jam? I couldn't taste it. The cheese wasn't unctuous like a cheddar, either. I couldn't identify it. They called it cheese and it was just that basic. it came with a half a pickle. That was good. again: a small grilled cheese sandwich, no side for $14. Same with the fish which normally shows up with 'chips' For $22. The fish was the size of two chicken tenders. It was gone before I even tried my grilled cheese. The fries weren't the best, either; cooked in beef fat, likely twice. Sigh.
We ordered wine with dinner which was all the same price, $60. It was nice But a little steep for a 'lunch counter'. No variety in price point And a short, tight list.
We had a chocolate pie for dessert that was big and yummy. Overall, this place is extorting money from you for 'meh' food and a basic space. The prices, which we do not hesitate to pay at a better restaurant, do not correspond to what we received or the general vibe In any way. $250 for two people.
Again, the service was a delight. The neighborhood is craving newness so I guess it will service them and their kids, but not me.
