Excellent small hotel in Gammel Skagen. Outstanding staff that is friendly and efficient. Location is beautiful, a short walk to a lovely beach and dunes.||The breakfast buffet was very good and the Dagmar suite was beautifully appointed with a nice balcony with views.||Best hotel in Skagen in an unusually quiet location in a neighborhood right near the beach, so good for long walks and there is a small local ice cream place at the beach and a very good small local restaurant called Sømærket within close walking distance as well as a very high restaurant on site.

A few days before our stay, we knew the weather was going to be bad. We had booked three nights, at approximately $500 per night, prepaid, and tried to cancel. They would not provide a refund, but they did allow us to shorten our visit to two nights. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we drove 7 hours and arrived at 10 pm. The restaurant was closed, but they allowed us to pre-order the duck salad, and the service was nice. But the salad was mostly inedible unless you like hard internal organs like hearts and livers. ||At 11 pm, they took us to our room, which was in a building three blocks away from the main hotel. We had Room 9. To get there, we had to walk up a steep staircase. Room 9 consists of a small seating area on the bottom, and a bedroom in the attic, accessible by a steep staircase/ladder. We are an older couple, so we asked the concierge to haul our bags upstairs. ||The bedroom is a death trap for older folks. The corner of the foot of the bed is much too close to the top of the ladder. A misstep in the middle of the night getting to the bathroom would cause someone to tumble down the steep stairs. But it was so late, we were too tired to try to get a different room. ||The bathroom was another problem. The shower door did not close properly. The hand shower leaked profusely. It was not possible to take a shower without soaking the bathroom floor. ||The next day the hotel staff moved us to room 5, down the hall. It was lovely, safe, roomy, and comfortable, and all on the same floor level. ||The breakfast was excellent. The buffet had plenty of breads, yogurt, fruits, cheeses, salmon, etc. Hot food was served a la carte. The eggs Benedict were perfect. ||The hotel is beautiful.

This is a very nice hotel, in a great location in old Skagen, with exceptional service and excellent restaurants. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. For instance, while having a coffee in the lobby area, a friendly staff member is coming around with a coffee pot asking if you would like some more coffee. The rooms are very spacious and impeccably cleaned. We enjoyed our weekend stay and will come back again.

Me and my wife visited Ruth's because it was our 11 1/2 wedding anniversary. The location was very nice close to the beach. You can hear the waves when you have the window open. We went in January, which is kind of off peak season. It was nice that there weren't that many people there. Ruth's is normally really full during peak season. Room ⭐️⭐️ The room we got was facing the ocean, which was nice. There were two problems with our room. The floor was crack where we entered the room. Me and my wife almost fell. We had to watch our step every time we left the room and entered the room. Second was the bathroom shower would overflow. When you took a shower. We didn't bother telling the front desk. Because we were only staying one night. Also, we were tired from the 4 hour drive. We just wanted to rest before dinner. We didn't want to deal with moving all our stuff to another room because we were already unpacked. Food⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have a mixed feeling about the food. I will try to explain why. The food tasted good, but the steak I got was tough. My wife got mussels and chips. Now, this was where the disappointment came in. Half of her mussels had their beard still attached to them. I have never seen this before at a restaurant. I was going to send it back, but my wife didn't want to make a scene. So she stopped me. Also, we noticed our waiters were very new and didn't really know what they were doing. They gave my wife the wrong wine. Then, she charged us for the expense wine my wife never got. Service-⭐️ Normally, when I review restaurants or places like this. I would not have put up with bad service and low standard food. But since this was our anniversary dinner. I listen to my wife. An didn't make a big deal about it. The dinner rate was ⭐️ Breakfast ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The breakfast was the best part of this trip. The service was excellent. The food was buffet. Plenty to choose from what to eat. If you want eggs, you will have to order it. Unless you want soft boil eggs. Finally, if you're going here for the experience and it's history. Then do that, but if you're expecting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️this, isn't the place to go, in my opinion. For the price you pay to stay an eat here. Maybe it's better in peek season 🤔 with the service and food? I hope it is, but I'm not willing to pay such a high price again and get disappointed again.

We didn't stay here but had some warm drinks and desserts one cold, rainy night. After a cold day touring Skagen, we stopped here to warm up and have some dessert one early evening. The main dining room was booked so they put us in a lounge room. It was like having a VIP section just for us. The server was great, he came around just enough to make sure we were happy but not too often. We got an assortment of desserts to share. They were all very delicious, rich, and we were happy they weren't very large in size. The creme brulee had a yummy burnt hard sugar top which we delighted in breaking with our spoons. It was perfect.

I can highly recommend staying at Ruth’s.|Given the publicity Ruth’s has had recently I was worrying a bit if it was too hyped. But they lived fully up to expectations. Staff was very friendly, rooms exceptionally nice and the breakfast outstanding. |Worthwhile spending a bit extra to get to stay here.

Upon checkout, they charged me 5835DKK for my stay and dining. But I had already PREPAID 4246DKK of that with points. When I called them the next day after learning of the extra payment, they apologized and said they would refund me. They never did. I sent numerous emails and they ignored all of them. Beware a business that steals from customers.

Great location ambiance service and food. Shrimps not best but rest of shellfish platter exceptional. Kristian the waiter was excellent and put up with me trying Danish. We are a family with 2 children and they had good moules frites. bla bla bla(now i am at 200 characters…)
