Ruzizi Tented Lodge

What a magical place to stay - we spent 2 nights there and had such a lovely time. The location is stunning, having meals on the terrace overlooking the lake with hippos grunting in the backgound and monkeys in the trees at breakfast is amazing. The staff are great, very friendly and professional, anticipating what you might need without being intrusive. The tents are really well appointed with comfy beds and lovely bathrooms, each one has a view of the lake. Food is great, and the picnic lunch just what you need at the half way point of your safari. We were blessed with seeing the Big 5 on our 2 days on the park. Have stayed before and would stay again. Highly recommended!

We loved our stay at Ruzizi! The facility was beautiful, with breathtaking views of the lake, winding pathways to the tents and decking around the main lodge. Our room was well equipped with a lovely view of the lake and tropical birds all around our tents. Hippos wandered right up to our tent at night and it was a once in a lifetime experience to fall asleep to their little grunts! The staff was also very kind and quick to offer a fresh cup of coffee and snacks when we sat down to enjoy the lake view. We loved how easy it was to get out on the preserve and see the wildlife too. 10/10 experience overall!

Ruzizi is set in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. The staff are extremely helpful and wanting to assist you with any thing you need. Food was great and the actual tent itself was glaming at it's finest. Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle including hippopotamuses was a highlight. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Ruzizi is one of the most unique and quality lodges I've ever stayed at. The setting is both tranquil and exciting (strange combination I know but you have to stay there to understand this!). Nestled into the banks of a beautiful, serene lake, your tent is surrounded by hippos, monkeys , alligators, and so much more, all going about their business in their natural habitat. Better yet, the service at Ruzizi is amazing. Everyone is so kind and gracious. With every meal you're greeted with a warm, caring smile and the cuisine is 5 star! I can't say enough about Ruzizi - a wonderful lodge that reflects the. beautiful, unique quality of Rwanda and its people.

this is one of the two africanparks property in Akagera national park. ||karenge bush camp is currently under refurbishment and scheduled to reopen in mid-December 2024. the best itinerary would be to stay 1 or 2 nights in ruzizi, then move on to karenge in the north where game is more prolific. ||tents are comfortable and face lake ihema. the property is also fenced, so no escort is needed to walk around after dark. ||tip: the road between ruzizi and boat dock where one undertakes the boat safari, is a good location to spot leopard.

The location and the property are beautiful. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. |It was quite an expensive stay, but we believe that it was worth the unique experience. We stayed for two nights, did one night safari and self-drive through the whole park the next day.

My stay at Ruzizi was absolutely exceptional, a true 10 out of 10 experience. The staff were incredibly caring and welcoming, creating an atmosphere that truly moved me. The lively energy of the place was infectious, and I was delighted to witness a surprise celebration for a guest's birthday. For anyone seeking a peaceful and authentically Rwandan experience, Ruzizi is the perfect choice!

Lovely very smart 'tents' with en suite bathrooms. Balcony at the front with a grass area and then the lakeside, so hippos can come right up to your balcony at night. We heard them but didn't see any. The tents are well spaced and very private, and connected by wooden walkways to the main bar/dining area. We ate dinner and breakfast on the beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. The food was good and staff lovely. |We did the sunset boat trip near Ruzizi and really recommend doing this. We saw crocodiles, hippos, elephants, water buck and many types of birds. A great experience.
