They are in the process of updating the hotel but the rooms, bathrooms and hallways are all so dated and tired. The location and wonderful morning buffet are the true highlights of this hotel. Rooms are on the smaller size and you literally have to drag your suitcase up the stairs since the ramp is closed. It’s so thoughtless. Wouldn’t consider again unless it’s to an updated room. Bonus - we were on the second floor and had a large balcony that was like a rooftop with great views.

The Rydges Lakeland Resort is a decent hotel with an amazing breakfast, and I would definitely stay there again. The Lakeview King Room was above average, but the decor felt a bit dated. The walls are very thin, so be prepared to hear everything. The water pressure was also quite low, making it difficult to wash my hair. It's worth noting that half the hotel appears to be undergoing renovations, so hopefully, the issues I encountered will be resolved for my next visit.||However, the breakfast was a real highlight. The all-you-can-eat buffet, complete with an egg chef making made-to-order omelettes while overlooking the stunning Lake Wakatipu, was incredible.||Parking on the street in front of the hotel was free, and the hotel's proximity to the town centre meant we could easily walk everywhere, which was a huge plus.

I see complaints about rundown rooms, mediocre food, poor service, etc.||Our experience was just the opposite - lovely, spacious room, everything seemed new, outstanding breakfast buffet, friendly service throughout the hotel. ||Maybe the hotel gave us a newly refurbished room? I don’t know, but this is the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in New Zealand. And they’ve all been 4-star level properties. ||No air conditioning but who needs it here in Queenstown? And they’ve patio door opens for fresh air. ||Great view of the lake and a short walk to downtown.

Location close to town at reasonable price with nice path across street to walk by water and a pickup spot for some tours + bus stop. Water temperature and pressure variable during week there for shower. Most of staff friendly & willing to help/answer questions. Construction ongoing, but not disturbing at night. Room very spacious.

Booked 4 night stay, then added on 3 nights for work. I was told the three nights were available but on the last night we would have to swap for a different room. When I checked in I was charged for the whole stay and told we no longer needed to move rooms. The day before the final night, reception staff came into our room asking for us to check out asap and then re check into another room despite being told we did not have to when we checked in and having no waring about this. After talking they agreed we could keep the same room but then changed the locks on our door cards so we had to get our keys reset as they said it was because we had not paid and were asking for the payment asap. When I enquired about this and paid for this extra night (I paid for everything at once though so very confused why this wasn't charged then??) I was asked what had happened and just kept being told it was a separate booking... I made no separate booking? Obviously a mistake on their end but did not admit it and just stood firm. Would have been happy if they explained that it was a simple mistake but just the rudeness and inconvenience that they seemed to not care about even though it was 100% their fault. Just demanding payment asap and no apology for being mislead. Also not sure why I was charged for every single night but this one? when I paid upon check in I confirmed check out was Monday about 3 times during conversation and that we did not have to change rooms. Location was great, rooms were clean but a bit old and no ac which sucked. Pretty shocking hospitality staff though. Bar staff were great though.

The hotel has a nice view, and the restaurant was okay, but their rooms were just a smidge above Motel 6 level. The hotel was not very well staffed and we couldn't get help with our luggage. ||The bed was not comfortable, and the place just looked tired. They are remodeling, but I suspect that it won't make much difference, as they seem to gravitate toward the cheapest elements possible.

Needed to book an additional night as our flight got changed. Called the reception and they said they were unable to add any extra nights as they had planned renovations over that period but our original booking would still be fine (not a problem). Two weeks later and our original booking has now been CANCELLED due to the renovations with no further communication from the hotel and only knowing of the cancellation due to noticing the refund in our account. Extremely frustrating and very poor communication from the business. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

I recently stayed at Rydges Lakeside Resort and had a mixed experience. The best part of the stay was definitely the location—it’s within walking distance of many must-see destinations, making it easy to explore the area without needing a car. The view from the breakfast restaurant was also a highlight, offering stunning scenery to start the day. However, the room itself was disappointing. There was no air-conditioning, which made it quite uncomfortable, especially in warmer weather. The water pressure in the shower was weak, which was frustrating after a long day out. Additionally, we booked a "pool view" room through Booking.com but were instead assigned a ground-floor room. These rooms require carrying luggage down steps since there’s no lift access, which was quite inconvenient. Parking was also not free and charged at $25 per night. Overall, while the location and views were excellent, the room experience left much to be desired. I’d recommend staying here for the convenience but with tempered expectations regarding the accommodations. Shoutout to Mathias for upgrading our room for one night to help make it more comfortable for us.
