I recently stayed at Rydges Lakeside Resort and had a mixed experience. The best part of the stay was definitely the location—it’s within walking distance of many must-see destinations, making it easy to explore the area without needing a car. The view from the breakfast restaurant was also a highlight, offering stunning scenery to start the day. However, the room itself was disappointing. There was no air-conditioning, which made it quite uncomfortable, especially in warmer weather. The water pressure in the shower was weak, which was frustrating after a long day out. Additionally, we booked a "pool view" room through Booking.com but were instead assigned a ground-floor room. These rooms require carrying luggage down steps since there’s no lift access, which was quite inconvenient. Parking was also not free and charged at $25 per night. Overall, while the location and views were excellent, the room experience left much to be desired. I’d recommend staying here for the convenience but with tempered expectations regarding the accommodations. Shoutout to Mathias for upgrading our room for one night to help make it more comfortable for us.

Would absolutely never stay here again. for the $580 that was charged for one night =, we expected a lot more. We booked this place due to the swimming pool so my son could use that, swimming pool was infested with wasps and could not be swam in. The room was filthy the walls paper thing, service from reception mediocre. The only nice thing was the Samoan man in breakfast service the morning of who was cheerful. Absolutely would not recommend this hotel

Room is neat and clean. We have a room with private balcony and lake view. It's amazing to see sunset and sunrise from the room. Bed is so soft and comfortable, we had deep sleep here. Receptionists are so welcoming! Chinese communication available at this hotel. Easy to communicate and receptionists are so lovely and patient to answer my queries. After check out, I can leave my luggage at receptionist and pick up later. Breakfast is delicious, wide variety of food! Amazing lake and mountain view from the restaurant, what a great start of a day! Location is so ideal, walking along the lake to the shopping area and TSS steam ship jetty. In front of the hotel, Bus Number 1 available to go Queenstown airport.

Three night stay for a work trip. Genuinely helpful and friendly staff at both reception and the restaurant/bar upstairs. The room is pretty stock standard, no AC (pedestal fan did a great job on warm nights), but the bed was possibly the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in, and raises rating by at least a half a star. Had great, restful nights. The location has a beautiful view of the lake, which is literally across the road. Queenstown center and wharf area are just 5 mins walk away. super close to a wide variety of eateries, bars, attractions etc. There's a small pool in the courtyard near the bar. Nothing lavish, but it's a nice wee area. I would happily stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Beds are comfortable, parking is affordable and street parking is also available, the view is beautiful, the sauna with Kevin Murphy products for the shower and body were a much appreciated addition.

stayed for 1 night and never again. $450 and cant even get a clean bathroom let alone any fresh water…. hair in shower, dirty mirror, sink unclean and was filled with water, 1 roll of loo paper (with friends popping by it was gone by the morning so had to go hunting for an employee to get a new roll… got told to drink from the bathroom sink, that was filthy. again $450 and cant even get fresh water in my room. DO NOT RECOMMEND -unless last resort for location.

Great location. Easy to walk into town. However, no a/c, our sliding door to the verandah didn’t lock. We thought we’d booked a private verandah, family room but it was one large shared verandah - shared with at least 6 other rooms - no privacy as guests walk by. We had a family room (for 4) not even 4 chairs in the room or on the ‘verandah’. One lounge and 2xhairs on the verandah. Every day housekeeping only gave us 2 new towels & no toilet rolls. We had to keep ringing reception for more for everyone in the room.

The reception area makes the feel of the hotel so grand, however when going to your room, that mindset changes. We paid so much, only to get a room in the basement, we asked to change our room as one of our lights were not working and we had workers in our room. We were told it’s an extra charge - which we were willing to pay for an upgrade. The hallways are outdated and so are the rooms, the phone has not direction of numbers and what to dial for reception or room service or restaurant etc. We got a Lakeview room which was so underwhelming as it opened to a large concrete pad which was filthy, as seen in my photos. We visited the restaurant that was overpriced and we were not satisfied with what we got. We had the sign on the door to get room service, however for 2 nights we did not receive it. We got so fed up and just asked for 2 towels at least, it took up to 45 minutes to receive the towels. When we asked why it took so long we were advised it was due to some police issue. The staff are not friendly at all and gives the hostility vibes. Just a 10 minute was to the city which is our only highlight. Overall, I will not return and the bad comments in the reviews are accurate. Unfortunately I had to see it for myself.
