Our stay at Ryokan Sugimoto was truly exceptional. The level of service was outstanding, with every staff member going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and relaxing experience. The meals were a highlight—each dish was crafted with locally sourced ingredients, resulting in an exquisite culinary journey that was both fresh and authentic. Ryokan Sugimoto combines warm hospitality, superb cuisine, and traditional charm. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a genuine Japanese ryokan experience.

A friend organised and planned our trip we were a family of 4 with 2 adults and two teenage kids. Great place to stay as a family and also for a couple! The accommodation was beautiful and the bedding was very comfortable! |The onsen was also great very private and not busy we used both public and private. |The hospitality was absolutely fantastic very friendly and helpful. |Breakfast was a great experience although the kids didn’t eat much they still enjoyed the experience. What a great adventure I highly recommend if you want to experience a Ryokan in a quiet peaceful location!

On their website it says that you can book a private onsen by the hour based on available space, but when we got there they said they didn't have that option and didn't give any explanation. We were left very disappointed. We hope you will change your site so as not to mislead more people.

my family of 4 had a most memorable stay marked by the excellent kaiseki, warm & impeccable service and cozy facilities. ||when we couldn't finish our mushroom rice, the staff thoughtfully packed them into individually wrapped rice balls and delivered to our room, with pickles, for our supper. ||The onsen facilities though small, has both indoor and outdoor and is well stocked with different types of shampoo and skin -care that will surely delight the ladies. ||and we loved the foot bath in front of the lovely zen garden.

If I could give Ryokan Sugimoto more than 5 stars I would. We spent 2 nights here and were amazed by the experience - the staff were lovely and spoke English as much as they could (which we did not expect!), the rooms were large, quiet and beautifully clean and the food was outstanding. Our room came with a private onsen style bath. The dinner consisted of a huge number of small courses which alone make the price of the accommodation well worth it - you would not be served better quality food and as much at any restaurant. Breakfast was also delicious and fresh. We even got to see the chef making soba noodles. This really was a lifetime experience and for travellers who want a traditional Japanese experience I definitely recommend staying here!

On the first day of our motorcycle tour through Japan, we rode from Tokyo to Matsumoto. Aside from the fantastic ride, we ended up at this great Ryokan. ||It’s quietly located on a side street and when you walk through the lobby you end up in a courtyard with lounge chairs....a fantastic place to rest and relax.||My brother and I shared a room, which was a good size and traditional. It had the main room, a dressing room and bathroom with separate shower room / onsen. They also provided you with the necessary yukatas to relax in and wear when dining. Remember, you will sleep on futons, which are comfortable but difficult to get up from if you’re ‘older’ like me. 😳||The dining experience was wonderful. A traditional Japanese meal / set menu, with beer and saki. The food was very good and the waitress spoke English, explaining everything to us.....which was a huge help!||In general, the Ryokan is really pleasant and I would not hesitate to go again.||As a side note, this is not a place to go if you’re looking to get out and enjoy the night life. It’s absolutely the place to go if you want to enjoy a quiet place and experience the Japanese culture.||Enjoy!

This ryokan was my bucket list long time. They offer really comfortable room and decent foods specially soba! I ordered one bottle of wine for myself and they served extra dish for me Only one negative issue was the private bathtub room was super cold so I could not use it Instead used private bath The next morning was snowing The snow rapped all the sounds
