If you are looking to stay in a ryokan while in Japan, I absolutely would recommend Ryokufuso. The room was surprisingly spacious, with more than enough room for my girlfriend and I’s luggage. The staff was fantastic, they answered any and all questions we ha and were very attentive to us. They also provided a binder in the room that gave a rundown of most things you would need to know, including how to properly wear a yukata. I used the public bath at 6am when it opened and had it all to myself which was very relaxing and peaceful and encourage everyone to try out. We also had the Japanese breakfast, which was a real treat and would recommend to anyone traveling. Thank you again to the kind staff, you all were so great and made the experience that much better!

Our stay at this traditional Japanese Ryokan was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we checked in, we were welcomed by the sweetest elderly lady, whose warmth set the tone for our entire stay. The staff throughout were incredibly kind and helpful, making us feel completely at home. The room was beautifully designed with tatami mats, futons, and yukatas — everything that embodies the authentic Japanese experience. The entire property was spotless, calm, and so well maintained. The public bath was also a wonderful and relaxing experience, adding to the charm of the stay. This was, without doubt, our best day in Japan. Everything — from the comfort to the hospitality — was simply flawless. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a true Japanese Ryokan experience in Kyoto!

We had an excellent stay at Ryokufuso! The staff were warm and spoke excellent English, they assisted us with storing our bags before and after our stay. The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. The kaiseki meal and Japanese breakfast were delicious and well matched to the season. The onsen was clean and comfortable. The location was very conveniently close to a bus line and Kyoto station. I can’t say enough good things about the facilities and staff. A perfect Ryokan for someone that wants all the tradition and care without any stuffiness or pretension.

Our stay at this beautiful Japanese-style hotel was outstanding. The breakfast alone is worth the trip and the stay – lovingly prepared with great attention to detail, offering a changing menu each day. Guests can choose between a Japanese or Western breakfast; we opted for the Japanese one and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are charmingly decorated, and we also chose a Japanese-style interior, which was spotlessly clean. The hotel owner and the staff were all incredibly kind, attentive, and warm-hearted, creating a very welcoming and familiar atmosphere. Thank you so much for this heartfelt hospitality and for an unforgettable stay!

Absolutely loved our stay here (3 nights)! Room was spacious enough to hold our luggages (4 total, about 2 fully opened). The staff and the kaiseki breakfasts really made our stay memorable. The staff were so friendly and can recognize us instantly upon coming back from our day excursions and the breakfast changes everyday but was so good every time and was ready so fast! There is also an little onsen on site, which is a nice way to wind down. Highly recommend if you are looking for a traditional ryokan :)

I loved my first stay in 2018 so much that I decided to stay again. The room was top-notch, with an inoki bath, and the service was terrific. ||We had the shabu-shabu dinner and Japanese breakfast (you have to book these in advance, so don’t just show up!) ||The only thing the hotel could do is ensure that all guests respect the rules for the onsen a bit more strictly. ||There is a booklet in the room that explains everything, and the person who accompanies you to the room shows it to you as well. However, a guest didn’t respect any of them, and it was very unpleasant. ||They barged in for dinner, asking to eat, despite it being by reservation, and the same person didn’t wash themselves before entering the bath in the onsen, which was infuriating. |They spoiled it for everyone. ||Advice to tourists: stay at the hotel, as it is fantastic, with great amenities and unparalleled service. However, please be respectful and refrain from acting like a typical tourist.

A wonderful place to stay at in Kyoto. The hotel rooms have a wonderful atmosphere and smell great and homely due to the tatami mats. Most of the younger team can also speak English very well, which is lovely so you can learn more about food and culture. If you come here, you absolutely need to book the Kaiseki dinner. It was some of the best Japanese food I have ever had. 10/10 - would recommend! I will return whenever I am in Kyoto again.

A nice litte ryokan in the middle of kyoto. The worker were so nice. My room was very comfortable and everything was clean. A tiny onsen with a nice view to the city. Very recommendable if you need a stay for 1 or 2 days or if you want to stay in kyoto and want to do it just for the experience.
