The Best Hotels in the World: 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards

"At S Hotel you get the laid-back vibe of a stay in Jamaica with a bit of South Beach glitz—they even line the deck of their sleek pool with some of the island’s famous white sand. If that isn’t enough sand for your liking, the hotel also offers private access to idyllic Doctor’s Cave Beach and its gentle surf. Inside, the ocean view rooms are big enough to pass for apartments in some big cities. And they lay a minimalist black and white color scheme over a beachy aesthetic (think, lots of wicker furniture, including covering the bathtub) that will leave you feeling maximally relaxed. If it doesn’t, there’s always the Irie Baths and Spa, which has three underground plunge pools (hot, warm, and cold) that provide kinetic energy therapy and send you out feeling totally relaxed, in addition to the usual the massages and skin treatment options." - CNT Editors

I spend two nights at the S hotel montegobay. I have absolutely no regrets. First i have to comment the level of professionalism i saw with all the staff i encountered. The food is awesome, root rock is my favorite, however the market place food is great likewise. My room was 550, all i can say is my room was perfect. Spacious, clean, have all the necessities you may need. Let me end by giving a shout out to Delroy at the restaurant, Tony at pool, Danille my room attendant, and my Girl Kayla at frontdesk. My friends and i truly had a great time.

I had the pleasure of staying at S Hotel Montego Bay twice in one week—August 8–11 and again August 16–18—and as always, the experience was outstanding. Room 360 and room 349 were immaculate both times, with Patricia and Danielle providing excellent care. Special thanks to Kayla, Paul, Zaria, and the bellman for the warm welcome and hospitality. The buffet is one of my favorites on the island, especially for authentic Jamaican cuisine, and the hotel remains spotless throughout. I did notice more children this visit and hope management maintains the adults-only atmosphere that makes this hotel so unique. Still, it remains my top choice in Jamaica—I’ll be back in October!

Our family stayed at the S Hotel, Montego Bay May 7 to May 14, 2025 to celebrate our family reunion, for six of us are siblings who were born in Jamaica but the others had come to love the island for its connection to family. Our group was large, for it included 17 members with one member requiring accommodation for a wheelchair. The hotel was very helpful and considerate in ensuring he had access to his guest room and all the facilities at the hotel. The location of the hotel on Doctor’s Cave Beach and its proximity to nearby shops and the airport made our stay enjoyable as well as convenient. The beach was wonderful, clean, and valued patrons’ privacy. We enjoyed the food. The all inclusive menu was varied, offering a variety of Jamaican specialties as well as Western food. Like a true Jamaican host the food was served with a generous hand. The service was impeccable; all the staff were kind, polite, and helpful. The activities and games were fun. When one of the sisters met the pastry chef, Chef offered to make us a special sweet potato pudding to celebrate our reunion. It was a sweet offer showing how much the values of Jamaica haven’t changed; that family is and always will be a central value.

This was my first time visiting Jamaica and I know this resort will be a must for any future visits. We were welcomed with cold towels and Rum Punch. Each activity for the day was listed in the lobby in several places. Check in took less than 3 minutes. The rooms were spotless and prepared with sodas, water and snacks. My first day, I got a manicure and my husband got a massage. We were both given complimentary time in the baths and Sauna at the spa. Around the pool there were waitresses taking food and drink orders all day and evening. On top of the grill, there was a breakfast buffet and lunch buffet that all had restaurant quality food and a variety of cold options. LOTS of fruits and drink choices. The waitresses also took drink orders in the buffet area. There is a poolside 24/7 coffee/smoothie/sandwich cafe. The pool(s) was never crowded, the beaches also had the perfect amount of people (both people from the resort and local beach visitors). There were people selling small things here and there and would even swim up to you to sell things. They were all nice though. The drinks on the beach were limited but there was a separate full bar a few hundred feet from the main beach entrance. Each night there was some form of entertainment or live music. I tried each restaurant and recommend the Italian restaurant or Jamaican restaurant. The Seafood restaurant had very small portions and we ended up at the buffet after eating there. The spa was so great we had a second visit before checking out. The staff and hospitality professionals were top notch. There are so many people I would like to shoutout but want to protect their privacy! Management, front desk, spa staff, cafe staff, maintenance and bar staff all deserve praise and respect. These are some of the most hard-working individuals I've been fortunate enough to spend time with. There is so much more to add, but you will have to experience it for yourself.

Always a Fantastic Stay! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was my 5th stay at S Hotel Montego Bay (twice in one week!) and it never disappoints. Big thanks to Patricia and Daniel for taking great care of my room, and to Kayla, Paul, Zaria, and the bellman for their warm hospitality. The buffet with authentic Jamaican cuisine is always a highlight, and the property is spotless every time. I’ve noticed more children recently and hope the adults-only vibe remains, as that’s what makes this hotel so special. Still my favorite spot in Jamaica—I’ll be back in October!

Incredibly kind and professional staff. The pool and the beach were relaxing and picturesque. The food was on point for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel partners with some great excursions. My wife and I did the bamboo rafting, luminous lagoon, and dolphin experience. Would highly recommend each of those. Live music by the pool every night was great entertainment. Would recommend to anyone.

My husband and I just spent a long weekend at the S Hotel. Mesha at the front desk greeted us with a warm welcome and a beautiful smile. Her energy set the tone for the rest of our stay. Accommodations were above our expectations. Shout out to Joel-Lee at the pool bar, great energy and good vibes. We will definitely be back. Best upgrade ever!
