The perfect island pub. Don't even think of trying to get a table without booking ahead!

You'll want to get a chalet as part of the Hotel Bruny Lodge. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the balcony as the sun sets, watching the white wallabies pass by. Plus, you can get takeaway from the Hotel to enjoy away from the hustle of the pub.

The food at hotel Bruny was exceptional! The seafood linguine was to die for and the lamb ragu was amazing. The staff and service was very good. It was my husbands birthday and they went to the effort of putting a candle in his dessert and the manager brought over a bday cocktail which was lovely. Very much recommended, 5 stars! You cannot miss this!

Would definitely recommend staying here for couples! The location and views were amazing, we loved the outdoor seating deck with the view. The food was also pretty good. We got takeaway pizzas for dinner as the dining area was fully booked, so if you’re hoping to dine in, I’d recommend booking at least a day in advance. Would also note that it would be even better to have room service for the hotel guest to make the stay more comfortable. One small area for improvement was the window glass in our room was a bit hazy. Overall, the room was super clean and spacious. The internet was a bit slow, but the TV and Netflix worked fine and were still very watchable.

A great cosy dining room with incredible views out to sea. We ate here twice over two days and really enjoyed it. Pub food but with fresh ingredients and some skill in the kitchen. Lovely Bruny Island beers on tap and a good selection of Tasmanian wines. Service was quick and friendly even when busy.

If you want to fully experience Bruny Island, Bruny Hotel is a must stop spot. Great local pub energy in the bar with a gourmet dining bistro to boot! A beautiful blend of classic pub meals and fine dining all in the one place. The extensive drinks menu is sure to keep you hydrated and having a blast any time you visit. We have been coming here since 2021 and every time we visit Tasmania we make sure to plan a visit to Bruny Hotel!

The only thing that this place has going for it is that it’s pretty much the only dining option in the area, so it wins by default. The views are spectacular and the positioning is perfect. The dining room was cramped with people. I ordered a grilled fish and chips for my son, the fish was raw in the middle. Basically sashimi. I couldn’t feed it to my young boy, so it was a waste of $16.50. I had the lamb shoulder which was so fatty, and the sauce was oily. the vegetables were fresh and nice. The food is so underwhelming and so overpriced. They have the market in this area, they can serve crap food and people will pay because there’s nothing else. You’re better off bringing food with you from the main island and cooking it or just have cheese and crackers. It’s a waste of money and a horrible experience. I give two stars for the view only.

The food was nice but the service and the coffee let this place down. We pre-ordered our lunch as requested, yet three people were missing their meals. We had to chase them up and it seemed like the meals were forgotten. By the time everyone had finished eating the missing meals came. The meals themselves were nice, we had the seafood fettuccine and the Cauliflower chicken roast. But having to now wait for the remaining people to quickly eat their food put us behind. They had to rush to eat which wasnt enjoyable. Also, the coffee. The girl who made our coffee didn't or couldnt put the lids properly and literally made half a flat white! The cup was half full. At this point we just needed to get out of there as we were already running late due to the delays so we didn't ask her to make a full cup.

We were surprised to find this place open on Christmas Day and wandered in for a drink. They were so friendly and festive and a great stop on otherwise nature kind of a day on the island. We thank them for opening and really enjoyed our time there a good example of a great Aussie pub.

I can only comment on the food. Kids menu was fine. However, market fish of the day was not tasty at all today. It stunk really bad upon arrival to the table, yet extremely bland, the sauce was overloaded with vinegar, the broccoli was charcoal burnt, I was unable to eat it. The pumpkin was good and tasty. Then it took them over 20 minutes to bring an icecream dessert to my 6 yr old kid.. he was already in tears and asking us to forget about it and just leave, when they finally brought it!! The wine was decent and the atmosphere was pleasant. The worst was having a table right in front /outside of the WC. It’s not hygienic, smells, and is not what one is expecting when trying to eat.. to smell other people’s poops.. It’s a massive never again! Thank you but no thanks..

Yelp
We decided to check out Hotel Bruny as our third pit stop as we had read that they did cider tastings. Spoiler alert: they don't! Lame. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 4:30pm). There's a restaurant and bar area. The latter has a pool table. Service was brisk and unhelpful. There's a couple specials up on a chalkboard ($28.00 to 32.00 AUD). Not cheap. The regular menu is just as pricey with oysters ($4.00 to 5.00 AUD each), starters and mains. Lots of drinks to choose from (wines, beer, cider and milkshakes). - Pagan Cider pear ($9.50 AUD) - this was our favourite of the three bottled ciders that we tried. Most flavourful and actually could taste the pear. - Pagan Cider apple & cherry ($10.50 AUD) - this one had a good finish. Cherry was subtle even though the cherry to apple ratio is 40/60. Just okay. - Mohawk apple + ginger ($9.50 AUD) - this had a good initial taste but unpleasant finish. We weren't big fans. It's a bar more for the locals. 2.5 stars.

Yelp
Ok but not great. Came here for lunch and it was rather dead. I was stunned that there was no table service. I had to place my order at the bar and pay before it was delivered to my table. I felt that not having service was odd for this type of establishment. The food portions were large but the quality was so so. My wife and I had the seafood platter for two. The white fish was good the fries were awesome the best I've had in a while. But the oysters were poor and very salty and the salmon was ok nothing great. My daughter has a vegetable pot pie and it was excellent. I loved the flavor and the pie crust was flaky. They had a large variety of wine by the glass but the pour were super small.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch on our whirlwind day trip to Bruny Island and we were so glad that we did!! We ordered a seafood platter for 2 and it was amazing. There were 2 of everything - scallops, pink ling, squid, natural oysters, oysters kilpatrick, grilled salmon and hot smoked salmon with salad and chips. All the seafood was grilled and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was such a pleasure to taste the seafood properly - instead of the flavour being masked by batter or breadcrumbs. It was the highlight of our day and good value at $60.

Yelp
The wife and I decided to drop in because we were staying in the cool Hotel Bruny pods you on the hill. The wife had the Tasmanian scotch fillet steak and I had the Hotel Bruny chicken parmigiana. Both were amazing. Great price for huge portions and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Great food, great accommodation, great service and ambience. Thanks! We'll be back!

Yelp
update: a year later and a fresh set of smiling faces behind the bar. the food is still miraculous and the bruny island cider on tap is absolutely awesome. probably my favorite place to eat in the world! We stopped in here for an early bite with kids and were greeted with smiles and lovely conversation from Dave and Adam behind the bar. Dave spent several minutes explaining the kids menu to our little ones and they really enjoyed his light hearted banter. We enjoyed a delicious spread of fresh Tassie seafood that far surpassed our expectations. The meal was reasonably priced, and a chilled Tassie Sauv Blanc went down a treat. All in all, the meal was made even more enjoyable by the warm and personable service from all the staff. We will be back next time we are on Bruny

Yelp
We went here on a tour and it was huge portions and totally delicious and the cider tasting on top of everything was fabulous!

Yelp
Good modern pub menu, our dishes were both interesting and excellent, and the drinks list had some interest as well. Our top for next time - one dish and share. The menu might be hipster but the serve size is country pub - huge. If you're staying on Bruny, it's well worth the slow, looking-out-for-wildlife drive to Alonnah for dinner at the Bruny Hotel.

Yelp
Came for dinner, a booking almost essential. Meals are huge. And delicious. Had the wallaby spring rolls which were strangely delicious. Great service. A little on the pricey side but with options limited, worth it.
