Shibuya Sky

One of the best observation deck in Tokyo! From the deck, you could see a 360 view of Tokyo with no obstacles. Including most of the landmark like the Tokyo Sky-tree, Tokyo Tower and even Mount Fuji when the weather is nice. For me the best visiting time was 1 hour before sunset, which you could see the change of view from day light Tokyo to night life Tokyo. When the weather is nice, you could even see the afterglow above Mount Fuji. Also, a photo booth was provided on the deck, photo shooting with the deck’s photographer is free but purchasing the photo back isn’t. You could choose not to purchase but I think it’s still at a reasonable price. At last, strongly recommend to make your reservation before your visit as the deck was extremely popular especially in nice weather days. Also, prepare your wind-resistance gears before entering the deck especially in winter. Although the deck has an almost 3 meter glass curtain wall, but it’s still extremely windy up there.

I have been to Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree too. Shibuya Sky's rooftop is by far the best part about the attraction. The random couches, chairs, the net, and helipad are cool. You have to lock up your toque and loose hats while you're up there in a free locker. I managed to get a ticket at the counter, but most people recommend buying tickets in advance. I liked the random electronic installation as you go to access the roof. Note Shibuya Sky isn't outright labeled in Shinjuku or Shibuya stations. The entrance is the 14th floor of a shopping mall.

Amazing experience! Got there and hour before sunset. Spent around 2 hours. Enjoyed the daytime city view, the sunset view and the nighttime city light. There's no time limit, you can stay as long as you want. No hats or bags allowed on the rooftop, but they offer free lockers. Highly recommend it. BUY TICKET IN ADVANCE!!!

Wow wow wow. This was such an immersive experience. Of course the sky line and view are beautiful, but the whole experience itself is a vibe. I went at night and it felt like a different world. It was so peaceful and beautiful. They even have art exhibits that are seasonal to view after the experience! Staff were so kind as well. You need to reserve in advance as it sells out. So if you are interested, reserve a few weeks out and you might be able to get a sunset time! Other wise, I reserved a week before and got a 7:40pm slot that I felt was beautiful anyways! Also there is a bar.

This is truly one of Tokyo’s most unforgettable attractions. It’s best to purchase your tickets one to two weeks ahead of time, as slots fill up quickly. After entering, you’re free to stay as long as you wish, so a noon entry still allows you to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Shibuya Sky offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the city, making it an incredible spot for both daytime sightseeing and nighttime city lights. You can clearly see famous landmarks, busy crossings, and even Mount Fuji on a clear day. The open-air rooftop deck creates a unique and immersive experience that feels both peaceful and exhilarating at the same time. It’s also a perfect place for photos, so take your time enjoying one of the best views in Tokyo.

My friend and I were lucky to book a time slot for sunset. Which I recommend is the best time to pick. Shibuya city was magnificent to view from the evening to night time. The views are breathtaking. It happened to snow a little that morning so we got to see the small icicles that formed later that evening. It does get chilly being up so high but worth every minute. You can take professional photos by a photographer and buy it before exiting. There's 2 levels, we were happy to be able to go outside on the top, which some people do miss out on the opportunity. The elevator ride is awesome. Getting to see how many levels you go up and they have a projector screen with a starry theme playing as you go up. They limit the people to experience that, when going up. Exiting is different, it can be packed trying to leave. Overall, would recommend adding this to your itinerary while visiting Shibuya.

Back in November, my friends and I went to Shibuya Sky on a Wednesday at around 1:40 PM. We checked in, took an elevator and escalators up before we got to the top of the observation deck. Right before the top, we did need to stop by the storage room to leave our bags. There were plenty of lockers with a key on a wristband available. The top had great views of the city and it was also a time with great lighting. There were a lot of people there at the time but there was plenty of space for walking and viewing since it was a large observation deck. As you head back down, you’ll also run into a gift shop as well. We spent roughly about an hour here. When it comes to reserving, I highly recommend folks to look into the times well in advance. We were not able to grab a time for the ideal sunset even months before our trip. One thing to keep in mind is when you get on the observation deck, you can stay there for as long as you want.

Great views for pictures and many spots to take them. In January the sky is clear and you can even get to see Mount Fuji and take pictures with it. It has multiple sitting areas at the top where you can relax and enjoy the view, and it's not that crowded compared to other locations. Since it's at the top of the Shibuya Scramble, you can see the people crossing and it's really interesting observation point. The food was surprisingly not expensive and actually pretty good! I recommend buying a soda or snack after going to the top to enjoy another angle of the view at the lounge area in front of the restaurant.
