8 Iconic St. Louis Foods and Where to Try Them - AFAR

"A family-owned, award-winning Hill pizzeria and local mainstay since 1988 that serves the city’s defining St. Louis–style pizza: an ultra-thin, cracker-like crust topped with provel (a regional processed blend of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone) that melts across the pie and is traditionally cut into small square pieces rather than folded." - Asonta Benetti

"Located on “The Hill” in St. Louis’s version of Little Italy, Guido’s defines its wide-ranging menu as “the best of Mediterranean cuisine.” On it, you’ll find everything from classic Italian fare like homemade lasagna to traditional Spanish tapas such as boquerones and patatas bravas —but get the pizza. St. Louis has its own version—featuring a cracker-thin crust topped with Provel, a weirdly addicting white processed-cheese blend with a smoky, butter flavor—and Guido’s executes it perfectly. Opt for the Guido’s Deluxe with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers; it goes well with a side of toasted ravioli (essentially deep-fried meat ravioli), another St. Louis specialty."

Service was great and the waiter was very helpful with choosing items to order. All the food was good but I would say the item I enjoyed most was the empanadas. The potatos in the albandigas caseras dish were very good too. Would go back again to try more food and order the chef special empanadas (currently sweet potato)

Lauriano D.

Google
We had tapas. Bowl Midwest style chili (good), croquettes (minimal flavor) , empanadas (excellent), marinated artichokes ( very good), cod in marinara sauce (excellent). Great atmosphere, good time!

Michelle L.

Google
We went for tapas and pizza and this place delivered! Everything was exceptional! We got the potatoes, stuffed dates (our favorite), empanadas, and tenderloin (it was cooked perfectly). For the pizza we got the chicken Alfredo. The chicken on top was a bit big I would have liked it cut into smaller pieces but otherwise it was delicious. The food came out hot and yummy! Marie was our server and did a great job. This was our first time here and we will absolutely be back!

Google
Absolutely incredible Italian American food. I was in town for a conference and a local (Sue from the arch) recommended this place. Wasn’t sure at first if it would hold up to the standard she described but my goodness was I wrong! It is the best Italian American food I’ve had in a long time.

Google
I had family in town, and we had reservations for 13. The staff had everything ready when we arrived. The server was friendly and knowledgeable and always on time with the drink refills. The food was excellent, which I fully expected because I had been here many times. Everyone raved about what they ate, and the service was top-notch. Thank you to the staff at Guido's for making this time with my family very special. Forgot the food pictures but.. we had cannelloni, spaghetti and meatballs, cheese garlic bread, toasted ravioli, pizza, pasta con broccoli, chicken marsala, linguine with seafood.... ALL hot.. ALL excellent.. and what was most impressive is it didn't take long at all, 10 out of 10. You have to get the cannelloni with a side of cheese garlic bread... great for dipping. Side note #3 - noise was moderate to loud, but 90% of it was created by us... sorry to the others around us.

Google
Very nice Italian joint on the Hill. Our first visit, but not the last. The atmosphere, decor, service & food was phenomenal. We popped in after a full day at the zoo & were able to refill & relax a bit before the long haul home. Our server was attentive knowledgeable of menu items, respectful & sweet. We will def be back with our kids/more grandkids in the future.

Google
I highly recommend Guido’s. On very short notice (just 2–3 days), we needed a space to accommodate about 35–40 guests on a Saturday evening. I reached out to Guido’s, and Miquel rolled out the red carpet for our family. He arranged the beautiful back room—with the amazing fireplace and view of the new patio—making everything come together seamlessly. The food was amazing, as always, and the dessert trays were a hit. Cheers to Enrique and the rest of the staff; they were top-notch and truly genuine people. Thank you, Miquel, for your outstanding hospitality. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. Would highly recommend if you’re nearby and like italian!

Yelp
I was on the hunt for some great Italian food and a chance to try St. Louis' famous toasted ravioli, and I'm so glad I found Guido's! The food was fantastic, the service was spot-on, and the ambiance was relaxed and welcoming. Guido's definitely hit the spot. I went on a weeknight without a reservation, and while it was busy, I was able to grab a seat at a table. The space is cozy, with both dining tables and a small bar. The vibe was warm and inviting, especially on a chilly evening. The service was excellent. My server was attentive, friendly, and made sure I had everything I needed in a timely manner. No complaints at all. Now, let's talk about the food. I had to try the toasted ravioli to start, and I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful they were. So delicious, especially when dipped in the meat sauce! I'd definitely order them again. For my entree, I went with the homemade lasagna, and it did not disappoint. It's probably one of the best lasagnas I've had--bursting with flavor. I cleaned my plate! Everything was amazing, and I can't wait to return and try more items on the menu. Overall, Guido's was a great find. With great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in the St. Louis area. If you're craving delicious Italian food, Guido's is the place to go!

Yelp
Had to get one more stamp on my Pizza Passport before it expired!!! Went to Guido's on the Hill. It was a good pizza.... Typical STL style. We ordered the Guido Deluxe. A little too many onions for me. The cheese garlic bread was yummy!!!! I just love the atmosphere of The Hill Restaurants!!! Service was very good!!!!

Yelp
It had been a while since we had been here. I was reminded just how great their pizza is. Toppings are plentiful and delicious. A very friendly atmosphere and the service was awesome! Do it!!!

Yelp
Old school Italian! What is not to like about that? They also have Spanish tapas which is kind of awesome. Had great service and delicious meatballs and a yummy Caesar salad. I had one of my friends stuffed bacon-wrapped dates which was excellent! Definitely will eat here again.

Yelp
Didn't really have anything there that we liked. We love trying all kinds of restaurants in St. Louis and this is one we don't have to go back to unless they make changes. Food is too all over the place. Service was just alright but could've been better for sure. All in all try another place if you're between this and another.

Yelp
I tried this place recently with a group of friends and wow this is a hidden gem. Phenomenal food, phenomenal, drinks, phenomenal service. This was an incredible experience. We shared a few of the appetizers and I got chicken Parmesan. Large portions and delicious food, can't ask for more! Will definitely be going back!

Yelp
I enjoyed my tapas experience at Guido's at the hill. Street parking is plentiful. They have a wide, interesting tapas menu. Food 4/5 All the dishes are decent. Out of the 4 dishes, the chicken croquettes and artichokes are outstanding. The other two dishes are average. Service 4/5: Above average. The server refills water and checks on my table occasionally Ambiance 4/5: cozy atmosphere I'd recommend it and would love to be back.

Yelp
I went out with family that live in St. Louis to try Guido's for the first time. I like how this is an Italian Spanish spot! Everyone I went with has been here before and loved it, so I was excited. We went on Sunday evening and it was busy, but not too crowded. We sat inside, however they have a cute small outdoor patio. This place is located in The Hill and has street parking. Our server was attentive and helpful! I was deciding between a couple pastas and asked for her opinion. She guided me towards the lasagna as she said it is most popular! It was fantastic. It came out in a metal dish, which kept it extremely hot. It was bursting of flavor- you could taste the garlic, tomato, cheese- just levels of flavor. The group also got D'Angelo special, Chicken Siciliano with pasta, side of Pattatas Brava and signature salad. All were extremely good!! Even the broccoli that was paired with the D'Angelo special was super flavorlful. I tried every dish and legit had no complaints at all. I can't wait to come back and try more! Overall experience 4.5/5

Yelp
This was a spot I attended on a food tour. They served St. Louis style pizza along with some other Italian dishes and classics. We were served a pizza with sausage present. This was better than I thought. The sauce was very tasty and light while the cheese combination worked well together. The little pieces of sausage were good too. The thin crust was just not something I could get behind. It was way too thin for my liking, but the rest of the pizza really made up for it because of what was mentioned. Will I go back? I would.

Yelp
Loved my time at Guido's! Not only was the food menu super extensive, but there were plenty of cocktail options as well! They are known for their sangria and it did not disappoint! If you want the authentic Italian experience, definitely try this spot on the Hill! Street parking is free which is always a plus! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful with the menu. The owner even came over and checked on us, which speaks volumes on the service! Food was absolutely delicious but that came to no surprise! They are also currently expanding to a patio area where they can host weddings and other events! Definitely a go - to on the Hill!

Yelp
We went to Guidos for a family celebration, we had a reservation so we were easily seated. There is plenty of street parking on The Hill, so no matter where you park you should be fine. Our server was prompt and had great recommendations. We did not order an app but some family ordered artichokes and love them. My wife and I ordered Chicken Piccata with red sauce pasta and Cordero Con Patatas which was lamb lollipops and Spanish potatoes. The chicken was perfect cooked and the lemon sauce was delicious. The red sauce with the pasta has a very strong bell pepper taste and wasn't our favorite, but we still enjoyed it. The lamb was cooked medium rare as requested and honestly was some of the best lamb I've ever had. It was cooked and seasoned perfected and the potatoes were delicious. We'll be back to try more! Add this to your list of places to try!

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service really lacked. We watched customers leave really ticked off because of bad service. We experienced it ourselves but didn't say anything. Not sure I would go back. We've been in STL 13 years. Love Mamas, Eovaldis, Degregorio's , Dominic's (outstanding) and the new Sado was mindblowing. The Hill is awesome Zia's is good and Pizza de Gloria also excellent. Gioia's for a sandwich. So we thought we would try something new. Off day here? Maybe but if you can't staff the bar close it. We also watched the waitress lie about the coffee machine being broke, then served wine and a soda to the people she never went back to. They left without a bill (because she never went back) and paid for their purchase in cash which the waitress later came back 20 mins later and just pocketed the cash like it was a tip. Ripping off the establishment. Clearly poorly managed at lunch. Food had sat under a warming light. Perhaps put a sign up "No Bar Service" ? The ambiance was nice. If you can't staff the day after Christmas, don't open. You lost what was potentially 4 long term locals who are known for big tipping and this was the first time in years I left none.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Guido's in quite a while. It's always good! Today I ordered a pizza with salami and green olives and the STL cheese blend. I love their thin crisp crust and I was happy with my topping choices. We shared some apps including the Chorizo picante y manchego and the bacon wrapped dates. The charcuterie was fine but it's not really my bit. I love those bacon wrapped dates. They're filled with a creamy cheese and you get the sweet chewy date and the salty crisp bacon all in the same bite. I order them every single time. My dinner dates ordered a shrimp pasta and some of the other tapas dishes. I'll be back!

Yelp
1st time in for a late weekday lunch. We started with the combo appetizer platter to get the Toasted Ravioli and to try their Breaded Artichokes which the combo also came with wings & chicken tenders. All were very flavorful especially the sauce, but a little too breaded for our liking. We shared the Seafood Ravioli and that was more to our liking; however a bit on the oily side. We got to sit outside with an Italian meal in The Hill so all in all a pretty good lunch!

Yelp
My friends and I were in Missouri for only a few days so we had limited time to try out St. Louis style pizza. We've heard how controversial the cracker thin crust was, along with the Provel cheese and had to check it out for ourselves. After a bit of Yelping, we settled on checking out Guido's Pizzeria & Tapas. When we arrived around 6:15 p.m., the restaurant was fairly crowded. We put our names down and was told the wait might be close to an hour but to our surprise, it ended up being closer to 15 minutes. After being seated, we placed our order of one family sized Guido's deluxe, lamb lollipops, a large Guido's signature salad, fried calamari, and their combo appetizer platter of toasted ravioli, chicken wings, chicken strips and breaded artichokes. Overall, the food here is spectacular and the St. Louis style pizza 100% lived up to the hype. Everyone in my party absolutely loved the crunch of the thin crust, and we all raved about the house made sausage on the pizza. The amount of food we ordered to far too ambitious though and we ended up taking home half a pizza. If I were to stop by again, I would possible not over-order the fried calamari, the combo appetizer platter, and the signature salad in order to make space for more of the delicious pizza. At the end of your meal, be sure to save room for some gooey butter cake. This was my first time trying it and I simply can't get enough of it. We ordered a single slice to share amongst our group of 4 and after a single bite, everyone was tempted to order their own. Last but not least, service here is A+. From the front of the house to the servers, everyone was incredibly warm and friendly. Definitely would stop by again.

Yelp
Great " The Hill" restaurant ! Great waitress and attentive . Fireplace was cooking on this cold dreary night!

Yelp
No, it was a bust for us. The service was great. The food, on the other hand, was not. The rest of the family had seafood ravioli and pasta. They weren't happy with their dishes either.

Yelp
In my search for some of the best St Louis pizza with provel cheese, I found Guido's mentioned on a social media page and figured I'd give them a try. For those visiting and not familiar with provel cheese, it is a combo of cheddar, Swiss and provolone. You either love it or you don't. To be honest, I was not a fan but Guido's does offer a blend of mozzarella and provel. I think that would have been the better choice but hey go big or go home. I really enjoyed the sausage very flavorful and I loved the sauce. The toasted ravioli was ok but that meat sauce I could've took home with me. I was greeted when I arrived and seated shortly thereafter (I had a reservation). I believe my server's name was Shawn and he was awesome...great customer service and he gave me the ravioli on the house for my birthday since I wanted to try it but not a full portion as it was just me. I thought that was super nice. Plenty of seating and bar service. It felt very cozy, low lighting and your average Friday night conversation. They do have a few high tables as well if bar seating isn't available.

Yelp
We absolutely love Guidos! The interior is beautiful with a gorgeous fireplace and decorated in good taste. Service is always super friendly, although they are currently shortstaffed, they work really hard to make sure you were taken care of. Just have a little patience and grace because you can see how incredibly hard everyone is working. they move so quickly, I don't know how they do it! There is usually a special of the day and a super of the day and they are usually worth ordering. Their homemade soups are delicious, especially the zucchini soup. Family favorites are the pizza, chicken Siciliano, eggplant Parmesan, Pesce pasta, Paella, and fettuccine Alfredo. All of the fresh salads are incredible and save room for their warm breadbasket served with real butter. The bar is always on point as well. We enjoy wines by the glass, Kentucky mules, sangria, and martinis. All delish! We come here several times a year, but it's a family tradition to come together here just before Christmas to have an early dinner and shop on The Hill. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We had not been to Guido's previously and decided to give it a try for a special family occasion. We had a larger party so I called 2 weeks in advance and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Whomever I spoke to on the phone was courteous and accurate. I rec'd an automated confirmation when the res was made as well as 24 hours in advance. Our party arrived and our table was ready. Two in our party were running behind and our server (Suzanne, she was awesome! More on Suzanne in a second.) took our drink orders and let us know all was good. Drinks came, our full party arrived, and we ordered. We had 5 adults, 2 children (age 11 and 9) and a new born. Kids ordered a burger and chicken fingers, adults had 2 orders of Tutti mare, 2 orders of seafood ravioli and 1 order of cannelloni. Tutti mare was good, plenty of seafood but a little light on sauce flavor, cannelloni got a "top shelf" rating, seafood ravioli was a bit balsamic-heavy. Dessert was gooey butter cake (awesome), cheesecake (awesome) and cannoli (awesome). Oh, the kids gave their burger and chicken fingers 6 out of 5 stars! Suzanne was fantastic! Friendly, funny, answered all our questions. Service was spectacular. I will definitely request her when we return to Guido's. Atmosphere is just plain fun. We were a bit loud and no one seemed to care. We were passing the baby around and the tables around us all had fun comments about the little guy. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. We'll be back for sure. The food was good, atmosphere was great and our server was outstanding! Thanks Guido's for making a special event that much more special. Quick edit: Server at Guido's was Suzana. My bad, spell check got me and I didn't correct before posting. Thank you Suzana!

Yelp
A lovely Italian/Spanish restaurant on the Hill. We came on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy! We'll know to make reservations next time. The hosts were working hard to seat people quickly, though. In spite of the lines, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The host even came back to check on us and make sure we had menus and to see if our kids wanted crayons while we were waiting for the food. The restaurant is lovely. There is a small outdoor seating area, and the inside is elegant and feels like upscale but welcoming Mediterranean. My husband got the excellent house sangria, and I was pleased to find an Italian lager that I've never heard of before. Both our kids enjoyed the pizzas. My husband said his cannelloni was very good, and my chicken piccatta was great! Very lemony and nicely salty from the capers.

Yelp
Located in the heart of The Hill, with street parking very close, Guido's Pizzeria and Tapas offers quite a unique dining experience that blends Italian and Spanish cuisine. With a menu that features classic Italian fare alongside traditional Spanish entrées and tapas, it truly delivers on its promise of bringing "A Taste of Spain in the Middle of Italy." We went for dinner and focused on the tapas, which allowed us to try a variety of dishes. The food was nice overall, and I particularly enjoyed the croquetas caseras. The service was efficient, and we never had to wait long for anything. It's a comfortable, welcoming place to enjoy a dinner, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to explore a mix of Italian and Spanish flavors.

Yelp
Guido's was a big hit on my recent trip to STL. Great service, very reasonable prices and food that impressed. Lamb lollipops, toasted ravioli and seafood ravioli, all served up quick and very tasty. They offered indoor and outdoor seating, and we chose inside. There is also some bar seating. Would 100% recommend for an Italian dinner!

Yelp
A couple of colleagues and I visited Guido's for lunch yesterday. We made a reservation online ahead of time, so our table was ready for us when we arrived! Guido's is beautiful inside with subtle Spanish decor. The restaurant itself is very large with enough tables to accommodate a crowd. However, the parking situation is a little dicey with crowded street parking early. You may have to park a ways away and walk a block or two when you visit! We ordered tapas (small plates) to share, including a fruit and cheese plate and a papas fritas plate. The tapas were very tasty. The papas fritas were my favorite. They were perfectly seasoned and crispy and came with a fabulous garlic aioli for dipping. For my entree I ordered the Italian Salsiccia sandwich. This sandwich had Italian sausage, peppers, onions, and thick provolone cheese on top! The sandwich was HUGE so I only ate about a quarter of it. It was good but I wish it had more flavor. I probably should have stuck to tapas rather than ordering an entree. For dessert, I ordered a slice of tiramisu. It was light and fluffy, but it was not the best tiramisu I've had. It was good but not great as well! Overall, Guido's is a great place to try a variety of small plates. I personally didn't love my sandwich and dessert, but there are plenty of other options to try out!

Isabella D.

Yelp
Pretty good variety on the menu of Italian and Spanish dishes. Toasted Ravioli, Chicken Parm, and Veal Marsala were super good. Penne Primavera wasn't the best but not bad. Nice ambience and we were seated very quickly!
google avatar

Jonathan F.

Yelp
My goal is to try everything on the menu! Haven't been disappointed yet! Great wine selection. Superior pizza! And in my opinion the best T-Ravs on the Hill-I'm biased. Lasagna with the béchamel sauce is my new favorite-bigger portion requested. Tried Guido Man (Manhattan)on my last visit-yum!

West B.

Yelp
I had a smaller bday gathering and decided to let the Guido's team do the cooking. They helped me decide on a couple of the menu items and appetizers. It was ready when I asked for it to be. The Pizza's for the kids were perfect. 100% one of the best places on the Hill. Still the best Pizza with the best crust in STL. Thank you Guido's team!
google avatar

Niki S.

Yelp
Despite being called Guidos and being located on The Hill, you won't find real pizza here. They serve STL style pizza (I keep being told this is a thing and I don't know why it needs to be) but I will say, for whatever it is, Guidos does a pretty good job. The sauce is really good and they are Not stingy about toppings at all. The place feels like an old school Italian restaurant and is warm and inviting. The staff is very friendly and service is good. They have a decent Italian and Spanish wine list at very reasonable prices. It's nice to get a decent Chianti for $9. Anyway, this is an easy dinner spot if you're in the area and hungry. The place was full at 5:30 on a Sunday so clearly others agree. PS - you can ask them to skip the Provel and opt for only mozz on the pizza.
google avatar

Suzane C.

Yelp
Nice lunch today. We were thankful to get in f try pm the heat of outside to enjoy a pizza, appetizers and salads. The staff was good and responsive. The place is smaller on the inside than one would expect and there are various rooms that are hooked together to make the whole. There are also a couple outside tables.

Yelp
The tapas were OUTSTANDING!!! So, a group of 8 of us decided to dine here one evening and it was absolutely the best of both worlds! Four of us on one end of the table all ordered 2 tapas each and then shared them amongst ourselves. The other four on the other end of the table ordered entrees for themselves. I believe EVERYBODY was very satisfied with their meals. The service was VERY good, with some good natured kidding going on between us and the server. The ambiance was PERFECT, with such a cozy atmosphere! And all the photographs on the walls were amaaaazing! I loved everything about this place PERIOD. Just realized how BAD I was at picture taking! Such a SHAME because the food looked as good as it tasted...

Yelp
Once again, we had a marvelous experience at Guidos. Perfect pizza right on time as usual. This is been our new go to pizza. We can count on there consistent product. Our out-of-town guests just flipped out on great St. Louis style pizza. Well done, Guidos!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch this afternoon with Shawn as my waiter at the bar. Food was superb as always!

Becky J.

Yelp
Good food, horrible service. We sat at the bar to grab a pizza, the bartender clearly hates her job and could not stop complaining to anyone that would listen. Going on and on about how the shift before her didn't clean up before they left. It's OK to have a bad day, but try to keep the complaining behind closed door. Kinda put a funk in our day
google avatar

Natalya R.

Yelp
I had a delightful lunch at an Italian restaurant downtown. The bartender was attentive, and I enjoyed an Aperol spritz and veal parmesan. The ambiance was cozy, and it was a much-needed break from work.

Yelp
Went with a large group for Sunday dinner. Reservations were in place and they were ready for us in a small back room space which accommodated us comfortably. Our server was efficient and helpful taking drink orders first and then our food orders. Helpful without being solicitous. A small group of us ordered a variety of tapas to share and we enjoyed the variety, the presentation and delicious choices. Others at our table ordered pasta, pizza and sandwiches. No one was disappointed with food or drinks. I have been to Guido's several times and have found them to be consistently satisfying and pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
I was so happy to find a pizza place that offered individual sizes since my family all have different likes. Sadly, I am not a fan of provel cheese so I was also happy that I could have traditional thin crust but with my own cheese option. The pizza was topped generously and the crust was cooked to perfection. Takeout was fast and easy. I will say if you are within a few minutes of the restaurant just walk, it is easier than parking.

Yelp
Had to try Italian food when we were at The Hill, so Guido's Pizzeria it is...and it did not disappoint! Great place, nice and historic ambiance, great service, and great food! We tried toasted raviolis, a must! Also had the pizza with provel cheese and STL style... man, you gotta try those when in St Louis! Thank you for a nice time and great service...will be back sooner than later!

Yelp
The food was impeccable. Service was fun and flawless. Muni is the best. Can't wait to go back next week.

Yelp
My first time visiting Guido's was last night and it did not disappoint! My partner and I made reservations ahead of time and there was still a minor wait to be seated but we had plenty of time and was in no rush. Once we were seated, our waitress came over and was extremely personable and made sure we understood everything on the menu. We both ordered the House Sangria and the Toasted Raviolis. The Ravs were excellent and had the perfect balance of filling to pasta ratio. The pizza was delish and we had plenty to bring back for leftovers. The Italian sausage on it was amazing. Next we ordered a few Tapas from the menu and a Medium Guidos Deluxe Pizza with leftovers in mind. The beef tenderloin kebabs were perfectly charred without being overcooked. The Shrimp was fresh and had a buttery garlic sauce that was lovely. Lastly, the best dish of the night was the wild mushroom mix. So savory and rich with flavor. By far my favorite that we had. The ambiance inside is very nice and does have a very Italian feel to everything. My one complaint is that my partner and I were right in the middle of two large parties on either side of us which made for a loud environment. Nothing anyone can do about that and it was still great to be around such a lively, happy crowd.

Yelp
Looked for an Italian restaurant, with a relaxed dress code and open on Sunday. Found Guido's, and happy that we did. Table got the fried ravioli and giant meatballs for the table. Both were very good. The marinara was excellent. Got the Cannelloni and ask Ms. Hazel to out the "pink" sauce on it. That was a great combination. Tried my wife's chicken fettuccine alfredo . The chicken was a little dry but the alfredo sauce had enjoy flavor to overcome the short coming. Some of other guests got the chicken parmigiana both had nothing but got things to say about their meals. Our waitress Hazel was on top of her game even with the restaurant being busy, she never let our drinks run dry. Great food, great waitstaff, relax environment, and reasonable prices all add up to a place that I will seek out again.

Yelp
Walk in at 7:30pm on a Friday to an empty hostess stand. We wait for a couple minutes as staff walked past us and didn't acknowledge us to let us know someone would be with us. Hostess finally arrives checks us in for our reservation and as we're being escorted to our table the hostess is practically disappearing as she quickly turns two corners. I tried to keep up to not get lost but a waitress holding a plate cuts me off, apologizes after passing and then awkwardly waits for me to go to continue to catch up to the hostess who has already placed our menus down. The waitress immediately comes over and asks what we want to drink yet I haven't even looked at the menu so I had no idea what there was to drink. The waitress informed us there was coke products and gave us time to look over the menu. I went with the pink lemonade. That was best thing I ordered that night. I pick up the menu and immediately notice there is ink smeared all over it, some of the menu items you couldn't read because the lettering was completely removed. A corner of the menu was wet and sticky as well. We were seated at one of the narrow tables for two in between the larger dining tables so it was noticeably tight as a waitress bumped into me two separate times. A party was getting up and leaving and one of the customers butt was hanging over the table that she was practically sitting on it as she had to scoot by sideways because of how tight it was. We place an order for some tapas. I ordered what was described as "wild mushrooms" but I received what looked to be mostly baby bella mushrooms. For the main, I ordered the seafood ravioli as it's mentioned as a popular item here and I just personally didn't like it. The sauce tasted what i thought was like a butter, lemon, white wine combination. The ravioli pasta was good but the inside wasn't that good. Not much flavor and some parts were chewy. After two ravioli I had enough and asked for a box and a cup of their homemade soup to go in hopes that may be more satisfying. I didn't think the soup was that good either, it was the Italian chicken noodle. The waitress did say to have a good night but not once did she smile. As we were leaving, a cute elderly couple was ahead of us and they were slow due to disabilities and during this whole time of walking by the hostess stand she was on her phone the whole time and didn't say anything. I looked back at her a couple times in disbelief and her eyes were glued to her phone the entire time.

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice lunch at Guidos while running errands on the hill. This place has great Spanish inspired decorations and made for a very nice vibe. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. We got there just after opening and our food came out very quickly. The bread was nice with a great texture and nice butter. Our entrees were manicotti and cannelloni, both of which were hearty and flavorful. Good servings, just the right amount of food! Will be back. Parking can be a little tough but we found street parking a block or so away.

Yelp
Guidos is a favorite on the Hill in St Louis. Mostly Italian dishes with a good assortment of Tapas. Great pizza menu. Great salads and soups. The veal is fabulous. Don't miss it. The atmosphere is so much the Hill. It's very cozy with a super bar. It's like the neighborhood itself built the restaurant. Love it! Service is always excellent.

Yelp
We came to Guido's last night for my 31st birthday. I had called a few days prior to get a reservation and the guy was very helpful and got me set up. As the call ended, I got a text with my reservation. One day prior I got a follow up text to confirm, which I did. So we arrived at 6pm, walked in and said we had a birthday reservation. The hostess was great and said yep I've got your table right here. Boom. Walked in, table set, glasses of water already on the table. The service was awesome! Moon and Julia took great care of my family and I. The food- superb! I got the Chicken Picatta which was amazing. We laughed, drank, conversed for quite a while and had a wonderful time. They brought me a birthday dessert on the house and Moon even took several pictures for us. We love Guido's and I'm so glad I decided to dine here and have this special time with my family. Thanks y'all!

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant with a Spanish and Italian flair on the Hill. Huge menu with great prices. Inside is more modern than most restaurants on the Hill. Lots of options from pasta to pizza and tapas. We got our typical chicken parm with side of pink pasta and an order of lasagna. Portions are large, prices are great, and service was fantastic. Chicken parm came with their dinner salad which is out of this world! Similar to pasta house salad. We went around Christmas and wait was 10 minutes or less for two and street parking surprisingly wasn't an issue at all. Highly recommend!

Yelp
When we first walked in, Guido's was very busy, so I assumed it would be good. Upon sitting down, they gave us complimentary ice water and bread and butter, which was very pleasant. I ordered the linguine carbonara, and it was tempered correctly and tasted good. We were satisfied with our meals, but agreed that it was nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was nice, the decorations and interior had a coherent theme. Our waitress seemed to be very busy and rushed, but I think that she was working a lot of tables since it was so busy. Overall, would recommend if you are looking for a solid meal.

Yelp
Tried to make reservation for this evening. Manager said we don't take reservations less than 24 hours ahead. Also said we are very busy tonight. Needless to say we will NOT be back.

Yelp
We were looking for a new lunch spot and drove past this place. We never had it before and thought it was the perfect time to try it out. I loved their menu because they had an Italian menu and a Spanish menu along with some fusion items to try! We were in awe of the items they had for us to try so we had to order a bit of everything! We ordered the sampler platter for an appetizer, specialty side salad, French dip, manicotti and the chicken Parmesan sandwich. All were absolutely fantastic!! The service was top notch and the ambiance was perfect for lunch!

Yelp
Valencia Paella was Awesome! It was worth the 35 min wait so you know its cooked to order. Tiramisu was really good also. Wait staff were on top of it. No complaints We would go back
