Gull Pond

Wellfleet recreation wouldn’t let us use the part of the pond with the dock. They blocked off a major section for a swim school, which only used a small portion of the area. And Wellfleet recreation rep was SO rude about it! Just roll out some temporary buoys to block off the part being used. Or mark the pond as closed on Google Maps.

Excellent trails and beautiful views. Trout fishing was spectacular.

Pretty, like all the kettle ponds on the outer Cape. The highlight, if you bring a boat or the determination to walk all the way around, is the narrow channel connecting Gull Pond to Higgins Pond all the way across from the beach. There is also a small beach at the intersection (called the Sluiceway), though driving to it directly requires maneuvering some rough, thin dirt roads.

This was a childhood home (the ranger house on Aunt Sally’s), temporarily, during the early 70’s. The pond was a beautiful retreat. My mother would row us across the pond to take swimming lessons on cool summer mornings. So many good memories. One day I would love to return.

I took swimming lessons here years ago. I actually swam from gull pond to "the Sluice" with my dad in a paddle boat beside me.

Beautiful, peaceful, serene, clean place to go for a swim or read a book while the kids enjoy the large u shaped dock and swimming!

Awesome swimming area needs better signage on the roads nearby.
