Xingguang Photographic Equipment City - SilverKris

"Housed in a massive building and described as a 'cathedral to the camera,' this shop stocks everything from high-end new Nikon models to inexpensive pocket shooters. Beyond its comprehensive new-equipment selection, it’s notable for a rich display and sales floor of vintage cameras—many classic examples of Shanghai’s famed Seagull brand are on show—making it a rewarding stop even for visitors who aren’t avid photographers." - SilverKris

Must visit if you are looking for anything related to cameras and photography equipment. You'll get almost anything you need as a photographer, for studio equipment, photographic film or just batteries. Needs a short walk from the subway but can easily be found.

A big shopping mall dedicated to photography with lots of small shops selling all kind of cameras and equipment. It suffered a little bit during the pandemic with some shops looking deserted. Be aware that you have to negotiate otherwise you will get ripped off. My recommendation is actually the top floor where you can get your pictures printed at large scale and framed for a fair price and very good quality! Even if you don’t buy anything it’s fun to visit and explore.

it’s photographers and videographers heaven! you will find everything you can imagine under on roof from cameras, lights, accessories new and second hand and even fixing and services stores. 2 roofs basically because it’s 2 buildings not just one. but take care, it’s closes at 07 PM sharp! i have to add, very friendly people and staff.

Best place to buy a camera in Shanghai. Not the cheapest place, but can find any camera or related products in this place. Many shops does not speak english.

I like this place. I visited many times and purchased nearly each time something. It has a wealth of offers in particular for vintage camera gear. The stores are of different quality and price class. Expect to pay the price, no great bargains to be made. But I also never got cheated.

Good selection and prices are not too bad but you MUST know local pricing and be willing to negotiate heavily to get the best deal. Best to bargain in cash and be willing to walk away and try another store. Ask for fao-piao on lenses and gear you might have to warranty. Warranties are good in China only so be aware of that. For filters, bags, etc. this is the best bet in town. Used items on upper floors, each level has its own specialty, 1 floor for lighting and 1 for just accessories. The ground floor vendors know more English. There are ATMs at the facility, near the bathrooms. Best parking is next door at Centry Mart/DIY house wares store. Must be on the west bound lane to access parking and there is usually a traffic jam there. 7-10 min walk from Line 4 subway platform so easy access.

Buyers beware! Been here a few times and twice subject to scam. The first time, I bought a "SanDisk" MIcroSD card at the ground floor shop right next to the entrance (left hand side when you enter). Foolishly didn't test the card in the shop and ended up with a 32 MEGABYTE (No joke!!) card inside a package which read 32 GB. The 2nd time, years later, I used my credit card to pay for 35mm film rolls in a shop a couple of floors up and like magic the 450 CNY charge (approx. 55 EUR) turned into a 270 EUR charge on my credit card. I'm more experienced these days and my general advice is when in China, you should never ever use your credit card (even big name hotel chains can be sketchy) and always assume everyone is trying to rip you off (sad as that may sound), always be on your guard.

Pretty cheap stuff if you are from the EU. To get the best price, you should look for real brand cameras and equipment. They are usually cheaper. But you MUST haggle and bargain and you must also be ready to walk away and look for another shop in the house.
