A Saint-Tropez icon that lives up to its reputation! The classic brioche-and-cream Tarte Tropézienne is divine, and the café’s atmosphere is bright and welcoming. A perfect stop between shopping and sightseeing and a bite of local history in every slice.

I wanted to like this place — everything looked great. While walking around St. Tropez, we came across one of their bakeries. We weren’t hungry but decided to try something small and saw a sign: cookies, 2 for €5.50. But when we went to pay, the price suddenly changed to €6. I mentioned the sign, and the girl at the counter instantly denied it. She didn’t even check — just kept saying no, with a cold, mean expression like we were causing trouble. After insisting, they quietly removed the sign. That felt shady and dishonest. What made it worse was the vibe — we were the only Asians there, and the way we were treated felt off. Unfriendly, dismissive, and like we weren’t welcome. Later, we saw the exact same sign (2 for €5.50) at another La Tarte location in St. Raphaël — so clearly, we weren’t wrong. Disappointing and uncomfortable experience.

For me it was a must to try as it’s the most famous dessert from Saint Tropez. It’s good to try but… for me no effect wow. It was good, I got 3 small ones with different flavors. Probably if I am there again I will give another try but… really there is no wow effect. The staff were friendly and helpful. Maybe next time I will go to a family patisserie not to a franchise one.

The typical dessert was fresh and delicious. A bit overpriced but you can expect it in Saint Tropez. However, we had a bad customer experience: we bought the Tarte Tropezienne to take away, and we stopped outside on a table (the entire patio was empty, there was absolutely nobody outside) just one minute to organize our stuff. We put the cake on the table and meanwhile we had a taste of it. The waitress quickly came to say we were not allowed to occupy the tables to eat without paying an extra charge. We quickly moved away. We just needed a place to put our backpack for a second.

It’s a delicious piece of history! The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, with a stylish yet traditional French bakery feel. You can sense the dedication to preserving the legacy of this dessert. The service was friendly and efficient, though it can get busy given its popularity. Along with the classic Tarte Tropézienne, they offer other flavors and a variety of pastries, making it a delightful stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. Whether you’re a fan of history, baking, or just great desserts, this bakery offers a memorable experience that captures the charm of Saint-Tropez.

2 stars for the cakes which were nice. Less nice was the price for 2 coffees and 2 pieces of cake - 29€. Beware that if you eat in, you almost pay double the price that is shown in the store. There was an information on the table saying unspecifically that the price for eating-in is different to the prices shown in the store. At no point you would expect such an immense difference. In 2 weeks we haven´t seen higher that anywhere else in France - welcome to St-Tropez rip-off.

Their speciality tropezienne is unbelievably good. A must eat! Their apricot tart was delicious too. And yummy baguette. Plenty of spots upstairs to dine in.
