An Unforgettable Diwali Celebration! Special thanks to Swati and Abhishek for their warm welcome and hospitality. We recently hosted a private Diwali party here with about 20 of our European friends, and it turned out absolutely amazing! The food was the star of the night — bursting with authentic Indian flavours, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. Every dish felt like a little celebration on its own. The service was top-notch — warm, attentive, and perfectly timed. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt welcome and had a wonderful experience, even helping explain the dishes to those new to Indian cuisine. The ambience was just perfect — elegant, vibrant, and full of festive charm, creating the ideal backdrop for our Diwali gathering. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food and atmosphere, a true taste of India that impressed everyone! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to host a special event or simply enjoy an authentic Indian dining experience.

After reading some great reviews we decided to try Chapatti for dinner after visiting Fed Square to celebrate Diwali. Unfortunately nothing is what it seems. While the initial service was good, once we were seated they were very pushy to take our order after about 2mins. When we did order the waitress even tried to take the drinks menu from my hands that I was clearly still looking at. Waitress was very grabby and eager to take menus and empty plate as soon as last piece of food was taken. There was no ambiance unless you include your tables and others conversations as ambiance. After eating entree table was not cleaned but new plates were brought for mains, only after providing the plates did waitress advise there was going to be a lengthy delay on our meal due a large booking upstairs. We were offered to order more drinks which we declined as there appeared to be more than enough staff both waiting and in the kitchen twiddling their fingers to cope with the few tables they had. It would help to advise customers of delay before seating them as this was very unprofessional and embarassing to tell us mid-meal, we felt trapped and couldn't leave. Entree Gobi 65 arrived quite quickly (before my beer) unfortunately it wasn't cooked properly being soggy and doughy with far too much salt and seasoning. For main we ordered Dalcua curry and Lamb dum biryani, with chapatti and signature naan. The breads were nice although chapatis were small and sad looking and the food looked nice but it severely lacked flavour. We ordered medium heat but there was no heat whatsoever and the biryani had 4 small pieces of lamb and plain rice no flavour - looks like a dumb biryani until cut open then looks and tastes like plain rice. Unfortunately this restaurant was a big let down especially for the prices they charge. Surely all these 5 star reviews are influencers or fake, anybody who has experienced Indian food whether in Melbourne or India would see this as a severe let down and insult to Indian cuisine.

We recently visited Chapati for the second time and had a delightful experience overall. For starters, we ordered Gobi 65, Dahi Puri, and Gunpowder Potatoes. The Gobi 65 was crispy and lived up to our expectations, though the generous sprinkle of chaat masala or salt on top was a bit overpowering. The Dahi Puri, however, was outstanding and definitely a highlight. The Gunpowder Potatoes were decent but felt a little overpriced for what we got. For the main course, we enjoyed Kadai Chicken, Chapati, and their special garlic naan. The food was superb the naan was perfectly crispy with delicious layers, and it paired wonderfully with the flavorful Kadai Chicken. The combination was truly satisfying. To drink, we ordered Aam Panna, which was refreshing and complemented the meal nicely. Apart from the food, the customer service was exceptional. The server was attentive and frequently checked if we needed anything, which added to our pleasant dining experience. Overall, we had a great time at Chapati and look forward to visiting again soon!

Once in a while truly authentic Northern Indian cuisine comes to life down under. A great bar with stools for the casual meal. A quaint dining room for groups and couples.

My wife and I found this little gem of an Indian restaurant on a Friday night. We both love Indian food, and always make a beeline for the local restaurant, and when we decided to stay in Melbourne at the Windsor hotel, we walked down a laneway and found this great place. The location is clean, well set out, the service was great with very attentive staff. The selection of drinks, wines was very suitable for the dishes. We order a chicken vindaloo, a butter chicken, Cheese Naan bread, with several entrees. The food was amazing the sauces where thick, tasty, the food literally melted in your mouth. The breads were amazing, we ordered multiple breads to soak up the sauce, and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and wines. We’d both defiantly come back again.

Welcome to @chapatimelbourne ... the CBD's newest Indian restaurant 👏 I've just realised this is my 700th post 🙇‍♂️ on Insta. They have an amazing range of authentic dishes, from Punjab in the north, Kerala in the south, staples from Mumbai, and classics from Bengal in the west 👍 I shared a - Dhai Puri ❤️ - Chicken Tikka Tandoori - a Lamb Cutlet - Dhal Bukhara - Goan Fish Curry - Chaparti signature Naan both garlic and butter - Steamed Basmati rice - and a very nice glass of white wine. Chapati showcases the best of Indian cuisine in one place. Every dish was unique and full of flavour. They were absolutely delicious 😍 For those who can't decide, there are three tasting menu's which make dining that much easier 😀 If you want to try some absolutely delicious Indian food, this is the place to go. 💝 There's also a cool bar upstairs too. #collab
