"The most important historical site on Guadeloupe's miniature archipelago of Les Saintes also boasts one of the most breathtaking views in the Caribbean. Perched some 400 feet above Les Saintes Bay, Fort Napoleon’s panoramic view of the water—dotted with sailboats and surrounded by bluffs—is worth a visit to Terre-de-Haut on its own. But it’s of historic interest as well. Rebuilt in the mid-19th century after the British destroyed it, the fort turned into a prison that was used during World War II. It was restored in the 1980s and houses a museum showcasing the history of Les Saintes. You can stroll inside to see the former grounds that served as a jail, and walk the botanical gardens afterwards, filled with the island’s various cactus species. Look out for iguanas peeking out of holes in the fort’s walls, as ubiquitous on the grounds as they are all over the island. Take in the glorious scenery for as long as you like before descending back down, on foot or on your rented electric scooter."

The fort itself is in quite good condition considering the age. The museum is sadly all in French despite being told by the lady at the entrance that English is available - at this time there was an occasional sign only. Some great views of the coast and surrounding island. 7 Euros to get in. Careful walking around the outer edge if you are not sure footed. Parking can be in short supply. Overall it’s worth a visit, I just wished they would spend a little time on creating a few sheets of paper with translations so one can understand what the displays are all about. Because although some are looking a little worn, it looked like there is some great history here. If you can speak and read French - you’re good to go. There is a little shop for drinks and gifts, bring a credit card or Euros.

From Fort Napoleon, there are superbs views of Les Saintes, Guadeloupe and Marie-Galante. Museum dedicated to the history, culture and environment to the Saintes. Must see.

It okay on the negative side parking is terrible most is reserved for bus tours if you have a electric buggy you have to try and park down the hill quite a way, it's 7 euros each to get in and from what we see from goggle photos not a great more than from the look out point outside, but if you are in to Fort's it's probably worth it.

The pictures are very deceptive. This thing is a lot larger in real life! Amazing views and so many cool areas to explore. This was byfar my favorite attraction on Guadeloupe. Worth every Euro. You can also buy the local Tourment d'Amour for cheaper than in town. I don't know why it closes so early though. If you're only here on a cruise stop or day trip, visit the fort first as it closes at noon.

Went to see this magnificent fort, had to learn the history on my phone as everything is in French. It is well maintained and worth going just to see the fort, building, and definitely the views.

Great museum, great view and a very cool garden. We took a tour up here but it looked like a huge pain for those that took golf carts in terms of parking and driving on the busy, incredibly narrow roads.

This place is a MUST SEE for anyone visiting Les Saintes! The grounds and gardens alone are worth going for. Magnificent lookouts to see the island from atop this historical fort. We toured on our own, as there were only French speaking guides that day. Stellar succulents and cacti in the gardens, along with pretty man-made rock formations. Be on the lookout for goats and iguanas. We didn't see any iguanas there that day, but did see 2 large ones elsewhere on the island that day. Beautiful breezes up there due to the elevation.

The museum is located on a steep hill. I recommend getting there by an electric bike - it will allow you to visit the whole island easily. A wonderful view from the walls. The museum itself is chaotic. On the plus side, you can meet goats nearby 😁
