I am not typically someone who writes reviews, but my experience at The Golden Sheaf left me questioning my value as a guest. This review is intended as a genuine critique of my short-lived experiences at the venue. I would not normally take the time to write something this detailed if the situation had not been so baffling and disappointing.
I first visited the venue a week prior for their Wednesday event. Initially, the experience was positive—the staff were welcoming, the crowd was lively, and the venue itself had a great atmosphere. However, about an hour into the night, two security guards asked me to leave after I had a gag reflex from taking a shot of tequila. I was quite surprised by this, but I tried to understand their perspective, as security staff are responsible for identifying and escorting out individuals who appear intoxicated. For context, I had only consumed two vodka Red Bulls and a single shot.
A week later, I decided to give the venue another chance and returned with friends. Again, the evening started off well and the atmosphere was enjoyable. However, after stepping out of the restroom, the same two security guards approached me and asked me to come outside with them. I was immediately confused, as I had been keeping to myself and had not behaved in any disruptive way. They said they simply wanted to talk, but as we were walking out, they were sarcastically asking how my night was going, seemingly aware that they were about to end it.
I asked whether they remembered removing me the previous week. They initially acted as though they did not recognise me, despite referencing what I had been wearing during my earlier visit. Throughout both visits, I had not engaged in any disorderly behaviour, yet I felt unfairly singled out and targeted.
Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression. Security staff play an important role in maintaining safety, but professionalism and fairness are equally important in ensuring guests feel respected. In this case, the approach taken felt unnecessary and unprofessional, and it significantly impacted my perception of the venue.
(P.S: While writing this review, I noticed that many of the other negative reviews appear to reference similar issues with security. I even came across a photo from two months ago showing the same guard who asked me to leave, which suggests that this may not be an isolated experience and that the establishement are not taking the steps to fix this issue).
As a result, I will unfortunately not be returning to the venue and will be sharing my experience with others.
