Orvis Hot Springs

Decided to stay in one of the rooms. It was older and a bit dated, however comfortable, clean and the amenities are next level. We were able to soak all night and star gaze. The spot is private, secluded and the people are so nice. The staff was extremely helpful and we were able to come back and soak again before we left town. Will Definitely be coming back often.

Have camped here several times over the last few years. It's always super welcoming and relaxing environment. Their facilities are nice and well maintained and being able to go in the springs late or early while camping is a game changer. I love to go anytime I get a chance!

This is a HOT SPRINGS experience in the mountains of Colorado. Come on in for a quick soak, or stay all day (with in-out privileges) for the same price. Memberships are available and include ongoing discounts! There are 6 upstairs rooms available for overnight guests, but they sell out fast and early (we couldn'tget one on the same day). There is also camping and RV spaces, plus plenty of car parking. The spa has at least 10 different pools, some large, some small, some shallow, some deep, some private, some social, and they each have their own temperature ranging from 98°f to 109°f. The water has no "unpleasant smell". It contains calcium, magnisium, lithium, and other theraputic minerals. The tubs are emptied and scrubbed on a regular rotating schedule. There is a communal kitchen, massage therapy, and other relaxation techniques classes. Key point: The pools are "clothing optional" but robes, towels or other cover-ups are required when on dry land. No phones or any electronic devices are allowed outside the sleeping quarters. Personal Privacy is THAT important! The staff was genuinely kind, helpful, and understanding. The kitchen is well stocked and includes free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, & more. We Were visiting from out of state, found the place on recommendation of a local person. We ended up staying all day! The rustic resort is definitely worth every penny we spent, and we're already making plans to return!

A review written a couple weeks ago stated that nudity is only allowed in the pools. This is not correct. The grounds inside the fence around the pools are clothing optional. One need not wear anything when moving between pools or the sauna. Some type of coverup is required inside the building. Another suggestion for patrons of the sauna at Orvis, please sit on a towel regardless of your clothing status. A towel helps keep your sweat off the wood, and is more hygienic. Nobody wants to sit in your wet spot! haha Your sweat greatly shortens the life of the wood benches. Keeping your sweat off of the benches helps keep the sauna more fresh smelling also.

We have been going to Orvis for over 10 years and the last trip was different. I read the reviews and a couple things were missing that I thought was worth noting. Lots of people and most are in suits because there are teenagers walking around. Definitely not comfortable in the nude any longer. There is an outdoor shooting range across the street, so you will hear loud bangs in the otherwise serene mountains. Adds difficulty to relaxing at the spa.

I can’t speak for the accommodations, but we’ve been going to Orvis for a long time and always enjoyed a friendly mellow vibe. On our last visit, it seemed clear they no longer appreciate families with kids. There are now signs and rules about kids, even one suggesting that families with kids go to Ouray Hot Springs. If they want to be adult only then they should. I will not be back. For adults, it’s great but more crowded than it used to be and changing rooms are extremely cramped.

A good ole fashioned hippie dip that is a staple in the community. Great place to relax for a day, especially after several days of skiing. Some of the pools were small and there could have been more variety in the water temperatures, but still worth the price of admission. Get here early and you can come in and out as you please. While it is clothing optional, I would say that the majority (70-80%) of people were wearing bathing suits.

I checked in for my girlfriend and me and we enjoyed the hot springs for the second time in three days. It is a very relaxing space. As we were leaving my girlfriend went to the register to get the $8 back for the 1 hour dip. The cashier, who had checked me in initially, asked her to find our names on the check in sheet. I had only signed myself in, unaware that both guests need to sign themselves in. There is no signage about the requirement, nor had the staff member said anything as I bought entry for two people. When my girlfriend recognized this and apologetically told the cashier, he replied that since she had been there before, she “should have done the bare minimum and signed herself in.” When I overheard this and mentioned some signs about this requirement would be helpful, he said that we should know. I don’t work there. She doesn’t work there. Maybe the employee that checked us in twice in three days and never mentioned it should do the bare minimum and let guests know. I assume that’s part of their job. I don’t like leaving this kind of review but I called 3 times over the course of an hour and never got someone on the line. If each guest signing themselves in is a requirement, please add some signs indicating as much, and some staff training seems like it would be helpful. Really lovely hot springs. We also had fantastic massages there. Comically rude cashier.

Very clean and relaxing hot springs! This one is clothing optional, so I wouldn't recommend it for kids. As adults, we found it much more relaxing and better than the public Ouray Hot Springs. Definitely a bucket list item crossed off!

Best way to relax in southwestern Colorado! Beautiful views and grounds at Orvis. Every pool and garden area is wel placed. Fantastic place to soak in the summer or winter.

Garden of Eden here in Colorado The landscaping is beautiful and the people are relatively chill. A much better place for adults than the Ouray municipal pools which are rife with germy, loud children.

Camped over night and had the most relaxing soak in this beautiful little sacred bubble of nature.

Orvis Hot Springs is a peaceful and relaxing gem...The setting is serene...perfect for unwinding and soaking in nature...While it is clothing-optional...my wife and I chose to keep our swimsuits on and still had a wonderful time...The staff was very friendly and welcoming...and the complimentary tea...coffee...and water were a nice touch...Overall...a great experience...I definitely recommend this place

I went to this Hot Springs in 2023 and I have meant to do this review ever since. I loved my experience! One a half years later, I can say that even more so because I've been to other Hot Springs since and or this has continued to stick out in my memory. The customer service was great and the springs themselves were wonderful. I haven't been to another hot spring that felt as clean & natural. Many Hot Springs in the state are more like pools, this is definitely a special experience.

Beautiful naturally made hot springs with a handful of outdoor pools. A big indoor pool and two tiny (like 2-4 people) indoor hot springs as well. Clothing optional. Free lockers. Also a hotel. Very pleasant visit!!

Amazing! We love this place. 24 hour access if you stay. We couldn't stay overnight this trip. We enjoyed the big pool, the lobster pot, sauna and cold pool!! Clean and great service.

I had absolutely no clue it was a nudist hot spring and i could get over everyone's junk being out but their was also little kids running around... it was disturbing and gross. The lady who checked us in was passive aggressive and rude not to mention it was kinda expensive. Everyone gave a hippie vibe but acted like you cut their hand off when you struck up conversation. If you like getting glared at by overweight middle age dudes because their aquatic animal of a girlfriend is naked in the same pool as you this is your place.

I stayed overnight on one of the tent platforms which allowied use of the indoor shower and kitchen facilities. Sarah, Ashley and Manny were all great and very accommodating. Seeing all the stars at night while soaking in the lithium hot springs pools is definitely special. A nice place for that full body tan in the summer...Very enjoyable.

I visited on 4/26/25. The weather was sunny and about 70F with a slight breeze. Stopped by on my way around the San Juan Skyway, so did not stay in a room. I did research the place before deciding to go so I knew it was going to be a destination along the way. I stayed for maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had and I'm grateful they offer the services that they do. For any one offended by the nudity, that's on you. You should have done your research before visiting the place. There are multiple other hot springs that require clothing. Besides, there's NOTHING wrong with it. Surely as an adult you know what anatomy looks like. Who cares? Nothing is remotely offensive. Everyone was simply minding their own business. It's so relaxing and freeing to just enjoy the warm soaks and walks around the grounds with no restrictions. There are 7 outdoor pools and 3 indoor pools. I did not visit the indoor pools as they require clothing. The 2 largest pools look like they're connected but you can't swim between them. These are large pools with enough space for multiple guests without being uncomfortably close. They are deep enough to swim in and have a finely rocky bottom. There's natural rock seating around the edges or you can float/swim in the center. A much smaller "quiet area" pool is in the back corner but otherwise is similar. There's a very shallow and small pool with a waterfall. If there are other people then entering it can be awkward as the steps are right in front where most people sit so if you're naked you have to walk past them or walk around in the landscaping. The waterfall was a nice touch. There's a smoking (like cigarettes) pool I did not visit but was very small and shallow. Then there's a cold pool I also did not visit because it's extremely small and was occupied and a very hot ("lobster pot") and very small pool that was also always occupied. Both of these would probably be awkward if shared by 2 strangers because of how small they are. There are a few soft grassy areas where lots of people were sunbathing on towels, both nude and not, and both face up and face down. This is child friendly and there was one guest who had a maybe 2-3 year old boy in pull ups walking around, but that was the only child present. Nothing was weird or awkward about it. The men's restroom/changing room is quite small. There are only 2 small benches so changing can be a bit challenging. More than 3-4 people in there gets a little difficult. There's also a urinal and 2 showers to make things even more complicated. Free lockers and access to the kitchen were nice. The lady at the front desk was welcoming, friendly, and informative. Overall, I had an amazing experience here. I so wish I could visit again! And seriously people, get over your fear of nudity. Nobody here cares what you look like!

This place was amazing and I absolutely cannot wait to return. The staff is so kind and helpful. It made us feel at home. The atmosphere was peaceful, beautiful, and healing. There was no loud or rowdy people when we were there and there is even a sign discouraging that behavior. For vehicle camping, you literally are parked in a gravel parking lot against a chain link fence and next to other cars. At first we were turned off by this, but we reminded ourselves that this was about the soaking experience. Being able to walk right out of the ponds and right into your tent is amazing. Not to mention, when you camp there you can soak all through the night and/or in the early morning before day use visitors. Most of the visitors were nude (both in and out of the ponds) and sometimes they might even sit right next to you in a small pond and strike up a conversation, so you have to be comfortable with that. There are various ponds/pools to choose from of various sizes and temperatures. At the time of our visit, we only saw one pre-teen boy and later two toddlers. Otherwise it was all adults. There is an indoor warm pool where clothing is required and is a good place for kids.

These are my favorite "developed" hot springs I have ever been to. The facility is clean and comfortable. The vibe isn't modern high end luxury spa, but rather an unpretentious, earthy, healing space. The space offers a rustic charm. Staff is friendly and respectful. It is clothing optional and I'd say a majority of people were nude both times I've been. No cell phones or electronics are allowed and there are very high fences, which made me feel like I had complete privacy. The ambiance is quiet and tranquil. The scenery is unmatched being in the valley surrounded by mountains. They offer many pools with varying temperatures. They even have a smokers pool which is rare that smoking is allowed. There are showers and lockers. I highly recommend these hot springs.

This was last minute and out passes were complimentary from a local glamping spot. Thank you for the amazing welcome, we LOVED your community kitchen and hope paying farm fresh eggs with cookies forward made someone's day like the free loaf of bread made ours. We will be back!

So beautiful and was very relaxing I would come back in a heart beat! It wasn't expensive at all to get in but remember to bring your own towels otherwise you can purchase a towel there for $10

I've been to a lot of hot springs all over the country, but orvis really left an impression on me. Firstly, I love that it's clothing optional! A lot of hot springs in Oregon are like that and it just feels natural and right. It's also nice that electronics aren't allowed in the pools so you can feel comfortable basking in your birthday suit. The woman who helped me was very nice to talk with and helpful. She actually recommended Thai paradise to me (see Thai paradise review lol) and it was a 5 star experience as well. The soaking area reminds me of a secret garden or a little oasis. Beautiful fountains spilling into hot spring pools of different size and temperature. There's at least 6-8 pools I would say. Some are very small, others you can practically swim in! Chairs all around and a beautiful grassy lawn you can sunbathe in. What a luxury it was to soak in these healing waters, close my eyes and feel the suns warm rays and repeat. I ended the experience with a trip to the sauna followed by an icy plunge and then a very very hot pool. Yowza my skin was tingling! I found out that this is the only hot spring with lithium, which is very cool. High levels of magnesium detract from the typical sulphuric smell so it was very pleasant. You can lodge here as well and then have free access to the pools. I wanted to do that, but it was booked so plan accordingly! Even if you just do a day pass, it is worth every penny.

The Watsu water massage with Sweet Georgia was amazing! Like being swaddled by my own Mother. Thank You for your healing Touch!

This is a very relaxing hot springs with numerous pools at different temperatures. Definitely a place to go for quiet soaking. The area is nicely landscaped. Clothing is optional and in our visits about half the customers opted out of suits. All body shapes and sizes represented, no judging going on, so it's very freeing if you want that experience. The showers/changing area are dated and we prefer to arrive in sweats rather than use their changing facilities. If you're shy-ish but want to try opting out of a suit, time your arrival with sunset. It's a beautiful time of day and the dim lighting insures a degree of privacy/anonymity. They have onsite lodging but we haven't tried that so no comment on that option.

So here I am sitting in my vehicle freezing at 18 degrees Fahrenheit. My toes and hand are beginning to go numb. I start my truck because it's freezing to death outside and this lady who claims she works here opens my door and climbs inside without any permission and demands I shut my truck off and refuses to get out of my personal vehicle. I have to threaten her with a force of action to get her out of my vehicle. She goes to get the owners son to come out and he asks what's going on, so I tell him in my shivering voice how I'm friggin freezing after trying to sleep under all 7 blankets we had brought. Unfortunately I've never camped in this type of weather so yes maybe I'm under prepared. But do not friggin come to my personal vehicle and enter it without permission. Place is absolutely horrible. And the lady is literally smoking from a meth pipe next to us in the non campsite that states no parking. I ran my truck the first night and no one said anything. They even walked around and put notes on the cars who were not registered and still did not demand it to be off. Do not recommend camping here, the wood decks for tents are catty wampus. The fire rings are so small and have no griddle or grate over them. The outhouse is filthy, full of urine and poop. Smells horrific. The interior of the building has filthy changing rooms with no personal space. No neutral bathroom zones either. Next we visited the Silence pool, of course people there was talking. Kinda crazy thing, we shined a light under water and the algae and scum was so horrible. We exited immediately. Next the pool across. Pretty nice but the rocks hurt your feet bad! Same with this pool, scum and algae really bad. The rocks in the pools and walls are all covered in algae. We seen a wad of hair floating in the water with algae on it as well. To be honest, this campground is not safe at all especially with staff entering your vehicles to do whatever. The lady was drunk or just on drugs but I did not feel safe being here. As I finish with this review I am starting my truck to part ways from this dump.pictures attached are of the lady in the no parking area and of her truck plate and model so others can be on the lookout for this hostile person who has no limits. Be safe campers and look out!

This place is an unparalleled experience. The whole property is beautiful and there's so many options to get hot.

Stayed here in the tent campground. It was a phenomenal experience getting overnight access to the springs. The ranch behind the property is actually the owner of the springs. We met him in the morning when we was picking up hay for his cattle. Very nice old man with his grandsons tagging along.

Fun place to go. Clothing optional and is nice quiet and serene. No bells and whistles so if that's what you want I would find somewhere else

Amazing!! Relaxing!! Private!! Okay for nudists to enjoy in this quiet little hot spring spa hotel. This place also has camping!! Peak seasons it's $45 per person to camp or $37 off season. The camp sites include parking; put your tent on an elevated wooden platform. It's quite close to the neighbors. Will try it out next time. If it's just to experience the hot springs, coming at $22 for a 2 hour soak with 7 different pools to choose from. There is a smoking section for those that need to hit it while here. The shower and bathroom is small but good enough to get 3-4 people in there at once to change and what not. The pool temperatures ranges from 99-104, just right. Mostly shallow to more than 5' in depth. Great for couples or families to enjoy.

Stayed one night at Orvis and it was perfect. Staying there we had access to pools 24hrs which allowed us to have them to ourselves under the moonlight and for sunrise Staff was amazing and helpful and the beds in the iron room were comfy with great linens. The pools were perfect temperature and you have the lobster pot and cold plunge too. Love being naked in a comfortable environment

Nice place without the flash. More people where clothed than non clothed. It was pretty busy for a mid week visit. Plenty of seating in the shade and sun. My only complaint was that the rocks were super slick with algae and I did fall trying to get out and skinned my knee. I enjoyed the private tub that was inside.

We loved it! Felt absolutely comfortable definitely on a stop when we coke back! We felt so rejuvenated Great place!!!

On my last full day in Ouray, I decided to come to Orvis for some soaking and meditation. I was told by almost everyone I encountered in Ouray that Orvis is a MUST GO before I leave. So I came and spent almost the whole day here. The staff was so kind and helpful, and even gave me a little tour. The changing rooms, showers, and bathrooms are a bit cramped, but that's not what you come here for. I met some of the most rad souls that I would've never come across if I didn't stop at Orvis. The whole setup once you get to the back is a complete oasis. I personally spent about 5 hours in the lobster pot. I found that to be perfect for me. I was able to get lost in my meditation for quite some time. I also had some of the most enlightening conversations with the other souls inhabiting in the lobster pot lol. It was quite a trip! That's for sure. Make sure you bring water!! They have a refill station which is a total plus. I also was welcomed by the coolest of cats and also peacocks!?!?! What a time. What an experience. Only at Orvis. The views are beautiful, I hear the stars at night are just oh so captivating. Next time I find myself nearby I'll stop in for a soak in the pot with the other lobsters!!

Orvis is a place you go when you want a laid-back, Colorado hot spring experience as natural as you can get with an overlay of comfort. It is like being in a natural spring that you hike to, but with a slightly curated experience. I have been a handful of times as I just live down the road in Durango. I have a hot spring about 5 miles from me, but yet I chose Orvis. If you are looking for something frou frou or posh, go somewhere else. Orvis is close to nature, staffed with kind people, a community kitchen that allows a quick snack or a quick chat with a new friend, and an experience you will want to keep reliving over and over. It is clothing-optional which I have always found to be a personal and tasteful experience. Sure, It is a little quirky, but hey, Colorado is quirky. Embrace the experience you won't, you can't, have anywhere else.

I love this place and being able to bask in my glory without judgment. It has such a welcoming atmosphere and you are able to let everything hang out! I did have car troubles while I was here and so many guest came to help out. I have never been in an atmosphere with so much love and acceptance I strongly recommend this spot to anyone who is trying to get away from the toxins in this world. Let's not forget to mention the natural lithium in the water makes your skin feel baby soft again. I swam 8 hours straight and I can't wait to come back and visit again! Ps. Don't forget to buy a Amish caramel on your way out they are absolutely mouth watering!

My friends and I had a lovely time here! It is definitely clothing optional so be aware of that when you see lots of swinging parts. The grounds are very pretty and the springs are so comfy. There are a few different temperature pools. The main pools are both great temperatures. There is a super hot pool that I couldn't tolerate though I wish I could!! There are also indoor pools as well as saunas to enjoy. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Unfortunately, I tried Orvis Hot Springs... it cost me $38 to walk in the door go to the restrooms take a shower, at that point there was so much hair in the drain, the shower would not drain. I realized I did not want to experience anymore they charge me $35 for that experience, unacceptable business practices. House cleaning practices.

It was a wonderful last minute find, and I am so happy I got a chance to check it out as I liked it much better than other hot springs in the area. It's not fancy but everything is super clean and has everything you may need: lockers, changing rooms, coffee, water, snacks, you can rent towels and robes if you didn't bring your own, and OF COURSE, the pools! Different pools of various size and temperatures to choose from (natural looking ones, not the rec center type). They even have the silent one and the lobster one (super hot as the name suggests). They also have awesome sauna and a cold pool and shower right next to it. Adults only and clothing optional, which was a bit outside of my comfort zone but I would say that about half of the people wore swimming suits/trunks so it's great to have some options! They also have a super friendly cat that greeted us by the register and then was just hanging out outside. You do have an option to go for an hour or all day passes (you have to pay a full amount and will get refunded if you leave earlier). No cell phones allowed in the springs area but it's a fantastic natural and super relaxing setting, and I always sleep like a baby after soaking in hot springs!

Been going to Orvis for many years. Have always loved the experience and recommended it to many friends over the years. This last time, perhaps its due to many using the facilities, traveling through this summer, we were very disappointed. The water was downright dirty and murky. Our skin had a negative reaction and this was a first time. Came back to our friend's house in Ridgway where we're staying and both of us quickly jumped in the shower to wash away the spring's residue. Will think twice about returning.

We were staying nearby in Ouray which has its own hot springs but one of our tour guides recommended this place instead and we decided to check it out, best decision ever! I love the natural feel of the place, when you get there it doesn't look like much from the outside but it's an oasis once you're inside. The staff was super friendly and helpful and answered all of our questions. The water was perfect and clean, calm atmosphere, beautiful grounds, if you're in the area this place is a must!

Came from Michigan just to come relax in hot springs. Couldn't believe how friendly the staff was. They went out of their way just to make us feel at home. Amazing place to visit. Next time coming for a week

This place is really nice and has overnight camping or if you're just looking for a day pass they offer that as well. You can get a massage or just relax in their hot springs again this is a clothing optional reasort.

My family and I had a great time in the hot springs! We loved the vibe and feeling the place gave, how quiet it was (even in not quiet areas), and the garden. Beautiful place, very relaxing with a variety of areas with ice cold springs, warm springs, and hot springs, would definitely recommend stopping here. Clean changing area, warm and welcoming owners. Thank you to the owners for this great experience!

Hot springs were very relaxing. Camped overnight, so we got 2 days of soaking. The massages were great loved the couples massage yert. The view of the mountains was beautiful and hearing the animals at night was peaceful. The stars made the sky look like it was on fire with no city lights to ruin them.

Unfortunately this isn't a place I'd recommend based on customer service alone. When I worked in customer service I learned the customer is always right and I am not one to argue or put up a fight. So when I went to check in and gave them the campsite that I had booked earlier in the week they proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that I'd booked another campsite. I don't come to this place UNLESS that specific campsite is available so I was even more shocked when both ladies at the front desk told me "no you didn't book that site you booked this other one". Again, I ONLY go to these springs when my favorite camp spot is available. It would have been nice if they apologized for any inconvenience and explained what might have gone wrong but they didn't even want to discuss it, instead I was told I was wrong and that I had booked another site. One that I have NEVER booked in the past because of how far away it is from the springs. Instead of figuring out where the communication went wrong during booking, I was told I had 5 minutes to get my things and leave the premises while standing there naked in my robe. They didn't like that I repeatedly stated that I have always and only book this specific site and again repeated back to me that I was wrong and booked another site. To not cause any more drama I left the premises while still naked in my robe and they stated they were canceling my reservation all together, except that they didn't and they still charged my card over $500 which put my account in the negative because I transferred money from that account since they stated they canceled my reservation. So then I was left with a negative bank account, no campsite to sleep at, and nowhere to sleep in a small town where there's only 2 hotels that were both entirely booked. Did I have to sleep in my car? Yes I did. Was it below 35 degrees in the middle of November? Yes it was. I drove over 6 hours to these springs that I had booked a week in advance only to be told I was wrong and to leave because they didn't like my attitude while telling them that I had booked a specific site with no apologies, I was wrong and they were right. Sadly if you plan your vacation here you better hope that those employees aren't working that day because if you correct them or state that they're wrong, you'll be kicked out no questions asked.

Amazing. So refreshing. Lil fairy garden tucked away in the mountains I would recommend this place to anyone who is comfortable being around nude people. Personally I love that it's clothing optional. There's 7 minerals in the pools to help with different ailments !! I feel like a million bucks after leaving here

Disappointed. Visited this property over Labor Day weekend after observing the overwhelmingly favorable Yelp reviews. We thought, 'it has to be pretty good' and we really wanted to like this property. Check in was great - the staff was friendly and explained the rules and the property itself. They were out of free lockers, which was understandable because the property seemed rather busy. We ended up putting most of our stuff in our vehicle, which was fine. Then we tried the pools and this is where the disappointment started. First, many of the large pools had rocky entrances/exits - which, while it made the hot springs feel more 'natural', made it difficult to navigate in and out of the pools especially after the sun went down. My suggestion would be to add some underwater lighting near the entrance/exits of the pools? I know - this will make it less discreet for the naked people.. however, it seems like it would really help reduce the potential for injury here. All of the large pools felt lukewarm at best - too cool for what we like when we go to a hot spring. At one point an employee walked by with a thermometer and announced that the pool was 96 degrees ... Think bathtub water that has been sitting for a half hour, it's just not our idea of a *hot* spring. They do have ONE legitimately hot outdoor pool - the lobster pot. However, this pool is only the size of a small hot tub and had many visitors congregating in it to enjoy the hot water. This was not a relaxing experience to be packed into a small pool with 6-9 guests trying to stay warm. Conversely, they had one pool that was insanely cold - imaging showering in a cold shower. People were alternating between the lobster pot and this pool and claimed that it was enjoyable to do so. ‍ We took a hard pass on that. The indoor private tubs were hot, too. They appeared to have 2 of these and they were first come, first serve. We tried one that was next to a bathroom. The water temperature was hot but the privacy of the tub left something to be desired - the door lock was broken and would not lock, so anyone could just walk right in. As a side note.. a pool specifically reserved as a "smoking pool"?! As in, a pool where people are allowed to smoke cigarettes?! Really? We were floored that this is a thing. I would not want to be around people who are smoking at a hot springs and feel like this should not be a part of any hot springs experience. I don't mean to be so negative. I realize different people enjoy different temperatures and what is cold for me might be just perfect for you. Like I said, we really wanted to like this place. If naked is your thing - this is the place to do it, we thought perhaps thats what people like so much about this place? I will say the gardens are beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and it was nice to even see a friendly cat hanging out in this area. The sauna was a nice option too. Though, again, this began to feel very small when a bunch of people started congregating in there. Overall - very disappointed in our experience, especially considering the rave Yelp reviews. Typically Yelp has been pretty close to the reality we experience, however this time it let us down. We even considered leaving to go to the Wiesbaden hot springs (highly recommended, downtown Ouray) again. If your favorite hot springs, like us, are Pagosa or Iron Mountain in Glenwood Springs .. this is *not* like those. Needless to say, we will not be returning and would not recommend this property.

Our favorite place to spend a day, night or two. It's just simply the best hot springs I've ever been to. I always feel super relaxed, loose, calm and chill. Feeling good. I like how they run the place. It's very professional, and clean. When you're in there it's like a little oasis or sanctuary. It's a perfect peaceful place to relax and get some good healing.

So fun! This place is great! It's kid friendly but the kids that were there were well behaved. Some nudity. Plenty of space to find a nice spot to sit. If you're lucky enough to be in this beautiful area, you must stop by!

Great place tucked into the CO mountains. My friend and I visited but did not stay or camp here. There are plenty of pools to soak in. Many are clothing optional which was excellent but if you are sensitive to that you may want to stick to the clothes only areas. There is also a great sauna room which I really enjoyed. The staff are friendly even when letting you know you may be being too noisy, after all it is basically a spa :-)

We had made a reservation to camp here in our RV. The website looked nice and we really enjoy Hotsprings. When we showed they informed us that the RV camping was in their gravel parking lot against a chain link fence with a tarp on it, behind which was a large propane tank or there was another spot next to the dumpster open for RV camping. There were not real camp sites! Because we had reserve for two and had not canceled prior to 48 hours in advance, we paid $78 for one night. I give this a 1 star because it was not camping and it was not as advertised on their website. There are beautiful Mountain views but not from behind the tall metal security fence. We were very disappointed.

Fair warning to any judgy-mcjudgypants anti-nudist, Orvis is not for you. This is because the entirety of the outdoor hot spring area is clothing optional. Personally, I detest the cloying feel of a swimsuit when I'm taking the waters, and thus I get joyful over any hot spring that doesn't make me suffer under someone else's socially repressed dress-code when what I need is to relax in a hot mineral pool, heal, and unwind. Orvis allows that unencumbered relaxation in truly breathtaking surroundings. Though, I guess they actually cater to the judgy types too, since there is an indoor public pool that's clothing required, and two private indoor pools that don't have rigid time limitations, so you can take the waters without actually having to see other bathers if you want. Unpolished native rock was used in the construction of the walls and benches of the main outdoor pools, and they have rounded pebbles for floors. Thus, a walk across the pool is a built-in foot massage, and somewhere along the submerged seats is a spot ideally comfortable for just about every form or figure. Plus, the organic lines and curves of native rocks, pools, and greenscaping promote that release from urban rigidity, and the not-all-that-distant mountains on nearly every horizon are an anchoring connection with the natural world. Were it not the middle of winter, I'd no doubt have plopped myself in one of the many wooden chairs or swings to relax in the clean mountain air while taking in the view and quietly contemplating the lovely sound of the carefully constructed waterfalls which were likely meant for just that purpose. We stayed the night in the Uncompahgre room, which I definitely recommend to anyone who can save up the very significant cost of even a single night. The ability to skinny-dip silently in hot mineral baths well after the bulk of visitors have left for the night and long before they arrive for the day is a healing and relaxation experience nearly impossible to put a price tag on. Back to our room, though, it was generously sized and the bed was so perfectly cloudlike, that it was like I floated weightless all night. We had a personal fridge that ran in complete silence, and an individual water dispenser so we wouldn't dehydrate in the hot, high-altitude pools. The resort also provided us luxurious hooded robes for wandering the clothing-required halls and the chilly paths between outdoor pools, as well as ample fluffy towels to get thoroughly dry before falling into our personal cloud for the night. The only other warning I would have is for those that can't share. All the rooms in the guest house share communal bathrooms/showers, but since there aren't many rooms, the line was pretty non-existent each time we needed to avail ourselves of the facilities. There's a big communal kitchen below stairs as well, though we didn't avail ourselves since incredible food is a 2 minute drive away in Ridgway. We also missed out on using the public saunas due to being just so enthused about the pools. We're going to explore those, and possibly the massage treatments (available for an extra charge), at our next visit.

You can expect a very well maintained garden and grounds where the outdoor baths are. This is definitely a more favorable location if you don't have kids with you as opposed to the hot springs closer to the center of ouray. The staff was very friendly and informative. The actual indoor facilities (bathrooms, locker rooms) are no frills, but I feel a slight renovation and lift can really make it a more enjoyable missing star experience. Not that I am expecting a boutique type of feel. I didn't like the fact that smoking is allowed in some parts of the grounds. I felt it really takes away from the relaxing environment for me. Seeing ashtrays near some of the pools was a bit off putting. Highly recommend to bring your own towels and sandals to get between the different pools.
