Over the years, Pllek has been a staple for us whenever we were in the NDSM area. We usually stopped by for a cappuccino on a bike trip or some drinks with friends or visitors from out of town - on summer days on the sunny and always popular riverside terrace (also great for sunset watching), in the winter in the warm and lively restaurant (even featuring a cozy fireplace).
This time, we had a nice dinner with freshly prepared dishes, made of quality (and partly locally sourced) ingredients and served by friendly waiters. The bavette steak was absolutely to the point and came with cavolo nero, roasted vegetables, fries, and a flavorful morel sauce - fantastic. The grilled radicchio with cashew cheese, poached pear, roasted almonds and a dressing of olive oil and balsamic vinegar was quite tasty, too, it just lacked a bit the toasting flavor you’d expect from such a dish. We appreciated the complimentary bread and olive oil we received prior to the main dishes, a gesture of hospitality you sadly don’t come across very often in the Netherlands. The organic lemonades (ginger-citrus and rose-citrus) were excellent as well.
Combined with the really cozy atmosphere and a nice mix of guests from all walks of life, this made for a wonderful evening in one of our favorite places in Amsterdam.
