"Udon, a thick, chewy wheat noodle, shines whether it is served hot or cold. TsuruTonTan has a few shops in the city, though the best views are from the floor-to-ceiling windows on the 10th floor of Ginza Tokyu Plaza. The udon noodles are served in giant bowls big enough to stick your face into. Check out the seasonal recommendations like colorful slices of tomatoes with tomato sorbet in the summer. Year-round favorites include curry udon, and shrimp and vegetable tempura with udon."

Google
A large udon restaurant located within the shopping mall that also has its own bar. The restaurant serves quite a number of styles of udon. The udon bowls here are very large portioned and you do get what you pay for food volume wise. When we walked in, we completely missed the food model displays and were presently shocked at how large the udon servings were when our order finally came. The udon noodles were soft and decently flavoured. We really liked the beef tendon dish that you can order separately. The fried chicken was ok. Ordering is done via a tablet at your table and they have English options. Our only complaint was that we ordered 2 mock tails and it took them a long time before we got our drinks. We were seated at the bar counter and it looked like the bar tender was quite busy.

Google
The Udon here is excellent. It's soft and has a nice chew to it. The broths available are all good, except the mushroom sukiyaki which I found a bit sweet. You order via a tablet on the table. You can go from 1/2 to 3 times the Udon serving at no extra cost. Don't be dissuaded by the long line, it goes pretty fast. The ticket machine also spits out a QR code that tells you what place in line you're at. So you can just wander off.

Google
There are counter and table settings, but the only difference is the table height and size, so if you don't want a long wait, opt for seating at both. Now on to the food: the bowls are ENORMOUS! When you order, you are given a choice on the portion size from ½ to 3 servings of udon. I'm considered a big-eater and 1 serving is good. The soups and sauces are flavourful, especial love for the sesame butter - yumz! The pumpkin croquets' flavour interestingly reminds us of apple crumble, in a good way. Price is really reasonable. We will definitely return during this trip.

If you like Udon Noodles this is the place in Ginza Tokyo. The restaurant is on the 9th floor with a panoramic view of Ginza when seated on the sides. Delicious and tasty soup. The restaurant is known for its large serving potions; make sure to go there hungry and ready to savor the food. I highly recommend this udon Noodles place.

Google
Good atmophere. Servers are rarely seen but at least you can order through tablet. I went twice. Last year was fine, this year my food was all lukewarm. A bit pricey cause it's Ginza. It's not bad, but far from perfect.

Google
Very nice place with delicious udon dishes. So many choices to choose from. I like that you can also choose the size of your dish and how much noodles you would like to have. We also had a great view from our sit. Only down side is that it’s very crowded and we had to wait a bit to get a seat.

Google
after previous positive experience from the main branch in Osaka, i missed eating the udon, and would like to try the Ginza branch. the interior setting is different, the Osaka branch is more traditional restaurant and the Ginza branch is more like a pub or bar. nice view from a high floor with dim lit, fine dining style setting, perfect for a night out with families or friends. one similarity was, the forever long queue, on most lunch, afternoon or dinner time. i WAS LUCKY at the time, the big crowd was nowhere to be seen, so i quickly race to the counter table with a few group from the same elevator to register my name. Alas, the staff was nice enough and gave me a table to sit. why the 1 star??? unfortunately, i came for the food, and i found the food was completely the opposite, feels like i taste the imitation or the downgraded version of the Osaka branch. could it be just me? not sure if they run differently by different management, way of cooking style or ingredients selection. the udon noodle comparatively, was similar, but the tempura was more oily and the base soup, taste like an instant low grade dashi with lots of MSG instead of real seafood broth. bottom line, for a japanese standard, the udon noodle is ordinary, where you can find in other hundreds udon stalls everywhere, minus the fancy big bowl and fine dining setting. also if you are not a big eater, the double or triple size, would not matter as you can only eat so much and the number of prawn tempura is still the same. with the way the staff tried to rush me by collecting the bowl and utensils too soon (my waiting time for the udon is longer than my time eating it) made me feels like i am just numbers to them, yet who can blame them? almost 9pm, people are still queueing up. and read how they reply the critics, a similar template sentences, one for all. *sigh* 🥲😓😪😮‍💨 - do not expect any improvements anytime soon- overall, if you come to have a budget day or night out with families or friends and food quality is secondary, patience for long hours waiting is your master skill, you would love to be here. but for me, this is not the place i would want to visit again and again. NOT RECOMMENDED

Google
Waited 20 mins to get in and 25 mins for my order. They do thick and chewy style udon, the dish is not bad but also not inpressive, i dont really understand the hype..

Yelp
Quite possibly the best udon I've ever had. Given that Ginza has many high-priced food options, this was definitely a diamond in the rough. The line queue wasn't that bad, especially for a party of 11. I tried talking the group into trying the horse, but we settled on just the udon. Extremely generous portions and beautiful ambiance, this is a perfect option for locals and travelers alike. Ordering is super easy through the ipads on the table. The menus come in both english and japanese and the food magically appears at your table. Your time isn't rushed and staff is very friendly and attentive. We'll be returning on future trips for sure!

Yelp
Loved the decor of this place. It felt very elevated! The wait was about an hour but it felt like it moved fast since we were waiting with friends. The food was good, portion sizes for the noodles were huge! I got 1 full portion and I couldn't finish it. We got some side dishes, beef, mushrooms, veggie. The Korean style side dish was really small. Ok the service, there was 5 of us and for some reason they kept forgetting about my order. I didn't get to eat until 20minutes after everyone at the table was done eating... I didn't get my cocktail until after my meal and we had to get out of our seat to ask for service. Two different parties sitting next to us came and went... this is how long we were forgotten. My friend who brought us here said she's never experienced such bad service here... but it was my family & I first time and because of this service, we will not come here again or recommend this place to anymore.

Yelp
We came here because of the long line that was forming and it seemed to continuously draw a crowd for the same reason. This place has got a view but it was cloudy and rainy out plus we sat at a booth far away from the window. LED? Light displays going down metal bars were very mesmerizing for our daughter. Overall the food here is quite tasty but tablet ordering was a bit confusing to navigate and they brought out the wrong meal initially. A ton of people seemed to be ordering the creamy mentaiko udon. The bowls are absolutely MASSIVE but not too much food at all. Don't be intimidated by the size of the bowls haha and don't get a 1/2 portion of the spicy pollack udon thinking it'll be half price! Would get again but the full portion. It's pretty bizarre because ordering a double portion costs more but ordering a half portion is the same cost as a full portion.

Yelp
Great vibes and views from the restaurant! Highly recommend for food and vibes. The price point is good as well and portion size. We had really good curry udon and the grape juice!

Yelp
TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie / Ginza (Tokyo) -- It was our first evening in Tokyo, and Jamie W. and I were dealing with heavy-duty jet lag. However, we were intent on having a nice dinner to celebrate my birthday a day late. After reviewing Time Out Tokyo's top dining picks, I thought an udon brasserie might be an interesting choice as neither of us had been to one. Well, we walked a few blocks from our hotel and made our way to the 10th floor of Tokyo Plaza Ginza. There we saw a variety of restaurants on the floor, but by far the most popular was this one. We took our number, and the wait was well over an hour with no place to sit. Did I mention the jet lag? When we were finally seated, it was in a small carrel with counter space. It was hardly the fine dining experience I was expecting, and we made our order through a tablet screen. We had already decided what to get since we had plenty of time to look at all the plastic replicas of their specialty udon bowls during our arduous wait. Jamie ordered the ¥1,530 Vegetable and Mixed Pork Champon Udon which had more the consistency of porridge than soup (photo: https://yelp.to/dvIP21S6K5). He pronounced it middling with the udon noodles a bit too overcooked for his taste (he prefers ramen). Mine was the ¥1,880 Hot-Pot Nabeyaki Udon which looked great in plastic (photo: https://yelp.to/n6kKUN8ngT). When it arrived, the shrimp tempura looked wilted from the heat of the broth, and the rest of the ingredients were on the verge of mushy. Even with subpar texture, it still tasted pretty good. It helped that I paid ¥400 for the addition of pork meatballs (photo: https://yelp.to/D996aB1WXq). Somewhat disappointed, Jamie decided to order the ¥1,280 Assorted Sushi Rolls for us to share. Considering this is an udon house, I thought the eight rolls were decent enough though the fish portion was skimpy compared to the rice (photo: https://yelp.to/hexBxIHiTj). Gee, I guess I know what an udon brasserie offers now. FOOD - 3 stars...overly soft udon noodles cast a giant shadow AMBIANCE - 3 stars...seems nice if you have a table, but the carrel wasn't that enjoyable SERVICE - 4 stars...the servers were timely if a bit abrupt TOTAL - 3 stars...udon as a gourmet item really didn't work for us RELATED - Exploring Japan? Yelp
Tsuru TonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie in Ginza is a fantastic place to get udon in Tokyo. I loved their Beef Udon--simple yet so delicious and comforting. The noodles were perfectly thick and chewy and the beef and broth had such great flavor. I also appreciated how excessively big the bowl and spoon were (it was literally a ladle). Plus, the views were beautiful!

Yelp
I loved the udon at Tsuru Ton Tan so much I went twice during my November trip to Japan. They're located in a large shopping plaza on the 10th floor, where there are other restaurants available to you. There is a hostess stand in the front and the wait can be short or long depending on several factors. For my two trips here, the wait was no more than 10 mins each. Once seated, you order via a small tablet at your table, which makes it really easy to order. You're able to order up to 3x the udon noodles so have fun with this. If you get a heavier sauce like the curry, that should weigh into your decision on how much udon noodles you can handle. Service is what you would expect from any restaurant in Japan, which is to say courteous and prompt. The ambiance here is also nice, high ceilings, tables are decently spaced out and there is a large window looking out from the 10th floor. Good for you if you can secure a table near the windows. I will most certainly be back here, hopefully later this year. If you love udon like I do, this is a must try in Tokyo.

Yelp
TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie is a world famous restaurant for you Udon Noodle lovers. This particular location is in Ginza on the 10th floor of a Commercial building. We stopped by here twice during our last Nov trip to Tokyo and I thoroughly enjoyed not just the Udon soup I ordered, but also the ambiance, decor, and layout. The far side wall is a large glass wall and if you're fortunate enough, you can sit with a 10th floor view looking out during the daytime. I ordered the Curry Udon both times I was here, because if this sounds delicious, then you should probably order it yourself. Service was light, as you order via tablet and your interaction with their staff should be minimal. Definitely one of my favorite noodle shops in the Ginza area.

Yelp
Such a fun and upbeat place. It did take awhile to get a table. I'd say about 25 minutes. It was just me (as usual). I was seated at a high top table. It was pretty loud but I was able to enjoy that food. I ordered through the tablet they had set up at all the tables. The horse sashimi was really interesting and I recommend it to anyone looking for something new and unique. The udon was BIG! Plenty of food. I loved the mojito and plum wine. The bartender was quick and clearly was on top of his game. The menu is quite large and there's plenty of options for veggie lovers to steak eaters. It gets busy, but I loved it.

Yelp
I went to the Honolulu location and really liked it. The menu at this Tokyu Plaza Ginza 10F location is slightly different, but just as good. The popular items are the udon noodles in giant bowls. You can get up to three times the noodles free of charge, although I can't imagine anyone finishing it all. There are other items like sushi and tempura to go with the udon. We got the chicken udon and beef sukiyaki udon - both had a homey taste. I tend to add a rice cake tempura or a shrimp tempura to my noodles, and this restaurant lets you easily customize with a quick touch of a button. The seating system is quite easy. You sign up to get a number at the front of the store. English is available. Then you wait until they call the number in Japanese. Know your Japanese numbers. If you don't know Japanese, just remember the party in front of you -- hopefully they know when they are being called. Once seated, there is a tablet at each table with photos to make your selection. After you are done, bring your check to the front to pay. The restaurant is quite big, so turnover is fast. Families bring young children and babies. Be careful of all the strollers FYI. They can slow down the turnover for your coveted seat.

Yelp
Well worth the wait. A friend and I came here I think around 7 pm on a Friday night. And we put our names down and considered eating elsewhere but there was a wait everywhere and a friend had recommended this place to me. Also, it had the most reasonable prices. I think we waited an hour and a half or a little more. Be warned, they only call out the numbers in Japanese so you might want to check the machine where you got your number or check with the attendant. We were seated facing the windows and ordered from a tablet. You can choose how much noodles you want but keep in mind the noodles are filling. My friend and I ended up really full but the noodles are amazing. I got the curry udon and it was some of the best I've had. And for being in Ginza in what looks like a fancy mall, the prices were very reasonable. We also got some cocktails and they were okay. I'd pass on those next time and save room for more noodles.

Tommy L.

Yelp
The udon here is delicious! They also give you free up sizes up to 3x the amount. I chose 2.5x the amount of udon I ended up kind of regretting it because it was so much udon. I also wished I got a different sauce since the carbonara does get a bit heavy the more you eat. However overall it was good! The restaurant is actually located in the mall on top. The space itself is spacious and has plenty of tables but it is quite popular so we had to wait for about an hour before we were seated. Prices are super reasonable!
google avatar

Jonah K.

Yelp
Came by here because we couldn't decide what to get. They have a very extensive menu. We didn't think it was gonna be too busy, but ended up with a very long wait. The food was served very quickly. The service was good. The English menu was easyand it was an overall good meal. Oh yeah, the prices were low too.
google avatar

Hana T.

Yelp
Udon is probably my favorite type of noodle and so I've been to TsuruTonTan way too many times. It's a comfort meal for real. They have HUGE bowls and HUGE spoons for massive udon. So many options from plain udon to seafood to meat. I suggest getting cold noodles because when it's in warm soup, the chewiness of the udon reduces by a lot. You can order via iPad and so you can change the language. So it's quite tourist-friendly! Very popular so if you go at peak times, you might wait for more than an hour.
google avatar

Gabby H.

Yelp
The udon here is good for sure, you can't go wrong with any of your choices. The sushi was also really good, I would stay away from the rolls. They are very simple and westernized. Even though they are really known or a sushi place their nigiri was sooooo good! Overall this location, has a very upscale dining experience and is a great spot for grabbing food with a friend.

K L.

Yelp
Went this place during our one week stay in Tokyo. It is a great place to eat udon. Their bowls are huge and you get unlimited noodles for the same price. The only downside for this price is that you need be prepared to wait for a long time because it is so popular for it's price and food. The service is good too , but people there can barely understand or speak English. You need to first register at their kiosk to get a ticket, then you will be called by ticket numbers. The problem is the person who calls ticket numbers only speaks Japanese and we had to use google translator.

Yelp
This beautiful restaurant in situated in Ginza Shopping Mall on the 10th Floor. The atmosphere is amazing; there was a live pianist playing a beautiful grand piano when we visited. The restaurant itself is a little dark but if you're seated next to the windows, the view of Ginza is gorgeous. Although the restaurant looks upscale, the food is a reasonable price. The udon is delicious. They are known for their curry udon but the cream udon are very cheesy, creamy and great as well. The portion is fairly large as is but you can also order up to three times the amount of noodles free of charge. There is usually a line but it is worth the wait!
google avatar

Koki T.

Yelp
They have some shops in Tokyo and Osaka, and this shop is my recommendation. You can enjoy their good Udon with a very scenic view in Ginza, a very famous and popular town. My favorite is "Niku Udon", Wheat noodles with meat. The beef-taste soup is really nice. I often come here, and I order it in almost all the cases. You can add noodles without additional fee. plus 0.5 to 1.0: It might be ok if you like udon very much. plus 1.5 to 2.0(maximum): I'm still ok, but I'm not sure you can still enjoy it. Their inside seems like a gorgeous bar. It's very special and very different from typical Udon restaurants.
google avatar

Grace N.

Yelp
Cool ambience, but there aren't any vegetarian options on the menu at all. At all. Anyone who says there is definitely accidentally ate fish. When my "modified" egg udon (yikes, but okay) came with something unidentified on top, our server made his best efforts to tell us what it was. When he finally communicated that it was fish flakes he quickly replaced the bowl with a fresh one, this time devoid of the fish. Have to give him points for that.

Christopher U.

Yelp
Long wait for average food at a high price. Got carbonara and curry udon. Missed drinks are bad as well. Steer clear.
google avatar

Richard H.

Yelp
Amazing views, excellent food and great service. Be prepared to line up for a good half hour during lunchtime, but is worth the wait. Once you step inside , the frenzy of the busy shopping mall fades away as you look at the skyline views and take a seat on the generously spaced tables or booths. The modern decor and great looking tableware sets the stage for an excellent meal that comes quite fast. The udon extravaganza that I ordered came with assorted tempura and a giant slab of tofu skin. Broth was clear and wholesome, noodles were nice and bouncy. Crispy and light tempura. Not much to fault really, hence the full star rating.

Eva F.

Yelp
Yesterday we went for udon at Tsurutontan which came highly recommended . Although the udon was handmade and delicious, we believe we were ripped off and forced to order two plates of sushi due to an application error. We felt we clearly ordered only two bowls of udon, but two plates of sushi came in addition to the udon.We never ordered the sushi and tried to dispute, but they wouldn't listen and forced us to keep it. I don't eat raw fish. We won't be going there again.
google avatar

Marcia K.

Yelp
Gigantic bowls of delicious udon. Thugs place is in a shopping center, 10th floor. It's expensive, but delicious. Lots of dishes to choose from. You can choose how much noodles you want (1, 1.5). I'm a big eater and 1 was plenty. We also ordered the karaage -delicious! I got the udon with chicken.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
Wandering around Ginza, looking for a good, vegetarian friendly place for lunch, we stumbled across what proved to be our favorite noodle experience in Tokyo. TauruTonTan is located on the 10th floor of a commercial building overlooking the train station., with expansive views of GiThe decor reads like a much more expensive restaurant, but the prices are "udon standard" and the kimono clad staff provides exquisite service. We had 3 noodle dishes, each one was fantastic. We also enjoyed being the only Westerners, surrounded by very well dressed locals, out for a good value meal in a beautiful setting.
google avatar

Nazuki Y.

Yelp
Great place. We came here around 5:30 weekday and we found a seat without waiting but after we finished, there was a line! The taste, view and service all great. I ordered cold udon with kamo dashi. We can pick the volume of udon from 250 mg to 750. I did 300 and ate them all. There is variety of udon from traditional to new. Both tasty. If you can get a table next to the window, you will see amazing view from there.

Milton W.

Yelp
The lady at the tourist info center in Ginza recommended this Udon restaurant to us when we asked her for recommendations for a good place to eat with our kids. It exceeded all our expectations! I had the special which had beef, egg, an enormous slice of fried tofu, and tempura. It was all delicious and very flavorful! Here's the surprising kicker...the menu said that you can order 1.5, 2, or up to 3 times the size at NO additional cost. I doubled my order, and sure enough, it came out huge! Imagine your udon coming to your table in a large size American mixing bowl! The restaurant was very nicely situated on the 10th floor of the department store and had a pretty good view. The wait staff didn't speak too much English, but they tried hard and made great efforts to accommodate our needs. A+ for them!
google avatar

C. K.

Yelp
Wow! What a great find. There is a long line here for good reason! The night we came they had live musicians, the atmosphere was great. Up on the 10th floor you have a view all around. We stayed off with the kale salad with some kind of citrus vinaigrette, and a salmon sushi roll, then onto the main event! The tofu udon bowls are almost comedically big, but trust me when I say they are so delicious you'll probably finish yours up. Paired with a nice Asahi beer and you're in business!

Yelp
Having tried one of there chains in NY I was very excited to eat at one of there restaurants in Japan. Large bowls of great Udon was all I was thinking about when I landed on a early flight to Tokyo. Though I must admit I was a little disappointed with the overall experience. There was a line out the front, which is to be expected in front of any good restaurant. But was disappointed to see a lot of spaces available after I was seated. They didn't have the Uni Udon which I loved in NY. The Carbonara Udon was a little watery, though the duck was very good. Food just seemed to take a long time coming out. Generally the staff lacked the hustle but polite. It was a great view but though the deco was a little old, and not as hip or modern as some of the other branches I have seen on Line. Still great Udon but didn't live up to my first experience.
google avatar

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Best udon we've had in japan. really well made noodle and very tasty broth. huge portion, and you can get double noodle for a marginal price. really liked the modern ambiance and the side dish options (specialty noodle places don't often have as many appetizers and sushi/sashimi options) great location. just the right amount of wait (enough people waiting that you know it's good, but not terribly long that you know it's a tourist trap) Totally plan on coming back repeatedly next japan trip.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
Great chain. Their udon is immensely "Q" or firm+chewy. They offer a wide range of cold or hot udon paired with various meats and soups. This location is on the 10F and has a very classy decor. The price range per entree is 800-1500 yen depending on whether you get a set. They allow you to order up to 3x the noodle quantity for free.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
AMAZING UDON. They come in the largest bowls imaginable. The wait was a little long, but it was so worth it. We actually went on a whim and were very hesitant when the wait was so long; but we figured if so many were waiting it had to be worth a try...and boy were we glad! The soup and noodles were delicious. The atmosphere and scenery were perfect as well. There were great views and the service was impeccable. Overall great experience.

Yelp
We got a tip from a friend that this was a great udon place. It is located inside Tokyo Plaza on the 10th floor off of Yurakucho station. There is a line that does form as soon as you step off the elevator. We waited in line for about 20 minutes so it wasn't too bad since the line does move fast. As soon as you are seated there are a bunch of options for udon including a sushi section and meat section. I ordered the dipping udon noodles where you assembled everything yourself for the broth. The noodles came in a separate bowl of hot water which kept them hot and chewy. The soup was seasoned perfectly so it was cool to be able to add in the sesame seeds, ginger, green onion and quail egg so you could add as much or as little as you'd like. My husband got the chicken udon which he said it was okay. Nothing special to him. Overall for the wait, the ambience and food it was overall okay. I'm glad we tried it but I don't know if I'd come again

Tj S.

Yelp
This Udon restaurant is very convenient for people who came from country side. Good location, Luxury interior, great night view from windows, open to midnight, good looking Udon served in huge bowl, so you feel you like a celebrity. All Udons are good but nothing unique.

Yvonne C.

Yelp
We ordered the sukiyaki udon bowl, it was delicious The bowl was HUGE amazing presentation.

Stanley L.

Yelp
Simple and delicious. Tourist/English friendly, and a great and varied menu.

Yelp
Giant bowls of udon. We tried the curry beef udon and the udon with sweet tofu. Both were very good but the curry was the best.
