"Repurposed Roman slaughterhouse During the late 19th and most of the 20th centuries, the Testaccio district hummed with activity from the sprawling slaughterhouse. Thought animal slaughter was moved away from Testaccio in 1975, most of the building has been preserved. In recent decades, areas have been slowly transformed for new functions. The place houses a contemporary art exhibition space called the MACRO, a university campus, and even an organic supermarket (open Tuesday to Sunday)."

Next to Testaccio Market - the old slaughterhouses are being converted into galleries. They're amazing and free, and well worth a visit. The photos are from two exhibitions: Keisuke Matsuoka. Le forme dell’umanità; and Otello Scatolini, Armonia 5.0. Allorché di due farete Uno. Both worth seeing, and if these are examples of the curation then you'll definitely want to see whatever is showing.

Small museum outside the city center. we came with no big expectations, so we were pretty surprised by the two spectacular and interestin exhibitions. The free admission is a nice plus.

This new cultural hub in Rome is not ready yet, but when it is, it is going to be amazing! There is a small cafe in the back, food and drinks are very affordable. You will find no tourists here. Only students and some relentless hippy who will have a good story to tell.

A very cool place to have an art installation; the old slaughterhouse infrastructure is very much visible and looks to be part of the plans for the ongoing development. Lots going on there and plenty of space. The photography exhibition by Mohamed Keita gives a different perspective of Rome, away from the usual subjects of photographs of the city. It's very close to the Testaccio market so if you're in the area wander in, it's free.

There is located the faculty of architeture and urbanism of Sapienza University. It is an old structure revitalized to gather a school. There is some exibitions and is a good place to visit when you want to visit the neighborhood of Testaccio.

Very very interesting experience.... loved all that we were able to see. The spray can paintings, the installations, the little market at the back. Very very nice. Although we were a little tired. Sadly we had informed at the booking counter that there was live music and that we could not find. But we did see a light and music display which was mesmerising.

Amazing place, really like it. Very similar to “el matadeiro “ in Madrid, I think that it has a great potential and I’m curious to see what it will become in few years. We saw the world press photo exhibition, which was very interesting and funny (in 1 hour you can see everything even reading all the captions that are super interesting). Recommend it!

I had high hopes for this space since I had read it was a contemporary art museum on the site of a former slaughterhouse. However, when I got there, the police who were on premise told me it was a university. There was absolutely no sign indicating there was any art activity. I wish there were more to see.
