Only a 4 star because I wish it was more than a Military Museum. Lots of history with information about generals etc. interesting clothing from different periods. On the third floor there were clay pots from 18BC found on Hydra. We visited for about 2 hours.

It's OK, but this is a very old-fashioned museum. Full of weapons, uniforms and paintings of rich people. Big display of letters and documents is inaccessible because there are no translations. Little on social history, ordinary lives. No photography permitted.

Your first stop at the port of Hydra. Nice museum with significant pieces of art and of Greek history from the early period of the modern Greek state.

Worth a visit if you need to get out of the sun and shave off some time before your boat back to Athens. Don’t you dare walk in that museum at 3:40PM when they close at 4 PM, the woman security guard will give you a death stare if you try and buy a ticket or even take a look at the gift shop. She’s not very nice and probably forgot that tourists are the reason why she has a job. Lol.

We had an excellent tour at the museum of Hydra. An amazing tour operator Mr Takis made our visit, a visit to remember. He was a real performer and with his passion and knowledge he was guiding us through the history of the Greek revolution and the battle of the people of Hydra against the Ottomans. A great museum with a nice layout, well designed lighting and air conditioning that everyone needs to visit.
