The legendary Cotton House hotel is all about the location- on one of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean and with a beautiful beach. It’s very old school with wonderful staff, but the rooms, televisions and gyms could use some updating. The villas straddle the fine line between “shabby chic” and just plain shabby, and when the wind blows all the shutters and windows rattle like crazy. We were given a nice upgrade and the service is terrific. Of the two restaurants, the beach cafe serves descent lunch, but the Dinner restaurant is disappointing. No outstanding meals and no specials or variety, at least during our stay. |Gym and spa could use a makeover. |Finally, even though they threw a terrific New YearsEve party, the place could use some livening up, with more live music to put one in the mood, especially during the beach dining. |Overall, a charming place but not up to the standards one expects in this price range, on such an exclusive island.
