"Rafting Down Main Street for July 4 Aspen's old-fashioned July 4 parade offers a glimpse of the small town America of years ago. Locals and visitors line the streets to watch the dozens of floats and performances that wind their way around downtown. You'll see everything from the local gymnastics team performing flips off of a mini trampoline to old-timey cowboys riding horses and ladies in costume walking on stilts. Nearly every local business and organization participates. My favorite float was from Aspen 's Blazing Adventures outfitter. You can tell they know how to have fun. Usually found navigating the rapids of Aspen's rivers, the crew piled up their rafts and draped an American flag from the side to create a make shift float which they "paddled" along Main Street."

Yelp
Outdoor seating has a very nice atmosphere. It was a beautiful day. Our waitress was very sweet. The prices though, kind of not okay. Kids menu was $12.95 with no descrption with 2 items and no drink. Weird. I really wanted Pho, but it was $20 minimum and I could not justify that for the quality of food and fast service kind of vibe feel you get. So I got the chicken lunch special fried rice. Portion fine for lunch, but when the Drunken Noodle off the regular menu came out it was the same portion size. What? The presentation was good. Food was dry for me. My hubby liked his. The Tom Kah was okay. I guess I have been spoiled by my local Thai place. We got our ticket and they included an 18% gratuity for themselves. I normally give 20%, but that is my choice to give that. Just taking it is a different story. I saw on the menu where they talked about taking 18% for groups of 6 or more, but we were 3 people. This place is a mess. Never coming back.

Yelp
I'm low grading this because I have zero tolerance for unethical practices. We ordered take out and when arriving to pick it up, paid the bill. Later on, I discovered that they added 15% gratuity for TAKE OUT. The American tipping culture has already gotten out of control but this is the first time I've experienced having the option taken away. Ask all you want, but it must be the consumers decision. To automatically include that tip without a warning or a mention is sneaky and a poor business practice. Now, the food we ordered: Wild pineapple fried rice - an interesting combo of really dried out salmon cubes, sour pineapple and cashews. Not bad, but seems like a mishmash of leftovers you use from the refrigerator. Happy Wings - pretty meaty and a definite sharp spice but doesn't linger long. Makes for fantastic leftovers as well. That's all - food wise, I give 3.5 stars, but the one-star is well deserved for what is really stealing from customers. That's all.

Rich D.

Yelp
The one is because they charge a tip of 15% for pick up even after I talked to manager. She told me it was their policy and I verified she'd rather not have my order than dropping the tip. She reiterated that this is their policy. The food itself is good!

Yelp
OK...Hate to do this, but this was one restaurant choice that I truly regret. First of all, the place was impossible to find... Why? There was no sign on the door! Ridiculous!! I literally had to walk back and forth several times trying to find the place. I even had to call the place for some help...but not much help there either. For this hardship I had to endure, I'm dropping 2 stars right off the bat. The place itself was VERY small...with only 2-3 tables! Also, when I arrived, I thought I entered a sauna...no air conditioning (it just happened to be a warmer day in Aspen)! Then the food. I just ordered Pad See Ew...and frankly, it tasted horrible. It was SO watered down in flavor...and I hated how they cut the chicken, in these big, long pieces. Also, I always expect super-wide noodles for Pad See Ew, but they used much thinner noodles. All just very disappointing...yet one of the most expensive Pad See Ews I've ever had! Also, I was eating in...yet they served this Thai Iced Tea in a paper cup (I didn't even bother to take a picture of their paper cup tea!). That was terribly cheap! THE only good thing about this place was the service. My waiter was friendly and attentive, and the foods came out pretty quickly. Overall, I truly regretting wasting my short time in Aspen in this restaurant.

Yelp
The vegetarian steamed gyoza is out of this world. I really enjoyed them! 10/10 would order more next time so I don't have to share. Only negative is I requested medium spicy and this is the spiciest dish I've ever had in my life. RIP to my tongue. I've also never had pad thai served with a lemon but it was quite tasty overall.

Yelp
We went there for their lunch special but the laksa noodles I had was terrible. It didn't taste anything like the regular laksa, and it's super salty. I usually like to eat the broth but this laksa is so salty I can't eat the broth at all!
google avatar

Deanna B.

Yelp
Excellent food, attentive staff Fast pick up when ordering to go food It's a regular staple In our home

Yelp
Had high expectations for this place since it smelled so good and the menu sounded good and you normally can't go wrong with Thai food. Well I was disappointed that the food seemed to not have much flavor/spice. The place is tiny with only a few tables and few spots at the counter/bar. The menu is extensive. The drinks however were strong. Got the curry and Thai fried rice

Yelp
It was the veg week due to ongoing festivals. I missed all the best meat to stick with my veg routine. Thai is mandatory in this case. We chanced upon this one and ordered quite a few dishes. Thai iced tea which I liked. Veg spring rolls ( has eggs ) but family had those and they gobbled each in a minute! I ordered panang curry with veggies and it was decent size In laws ate red curry and they liked it. Wife ordered stir fry veggies and she liked it too. Everything is served with brown rice too. That's definitely an added perk! Ask for chili oil if you like your Thai food spicy. Place is a quaint little sit down between supermarket and other small stores. Plenty of parking right next. You can use public restrooms in the basement.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
The Pho was AMAZING! Spring rolls were also amazing! Definitely returning soon! Especially since this weather is getting colder

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner while on a work trip. Highly recommend this restaurant for their food and their superb service. Everything I ordered was amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Very tasty pad Thai with pork. Friendly, efficient service. Not many tables ... maybe four 4-tops. Outdoor patio seating too. We were serenaded by an outstanding violin duo outside.

Yelp
My go to happy meal is Thai, especially if I'm dining alone or just grabbing pickup for one. Here for a work trip, and this spot looked like the only "real" Thai place in Aspen (I'm not counting the one or two other fusion options that popped up a la google search). Decided to grab a quick to-go dinner and test it out, despite having lower reviews than most other places around the downtown area. Service for to-go was super quick - literally ready in the ~10 min it took me to walk over from my Hotel (granted, I'm here mid Nov, so could be different in high season). Ample parking, but easily accessible walking from downtown as well. Yes, there was a 15% gratuity added to all to go orders (and the prices are not economical to begin with)- but in the context that rents in Aspen are astronomical/its a seasonal resort town etc, it is what it is. The inside is compact, with seating for ~22 which would be a squeeze; but also a full bar, so there must be some dine in volume. Green curry was pretty yummy- on the soupier side (but I like that), with baby corns, carrots, peas, (green?) beans, eggplant, and maybe zucchini? I ate it too fast! I got a mix of chicken and tofu - tofu was not fried which is usually my pref, but good flavor overall. I forgot to specific a spice level so got some chili oil to kick it up a notch. Love that everything comes with mixed brown rice. Portion was reasonable - think tall boy curry container, so that helped compensate for the price point. Also got the crab Rangoons which were delightful too - simple but balanced flavors in the mix and and good crunch to filling ratio, just sad there were only 6 in the portion for $12+. One point knocked off for the overall cost to portion ratio (including that 15% fee).... but a very solid casual option in what seems like a sea of pricey alternatives!

Yelp
Highly recommend! My friends and I, who are from California, were looking for a Thai restaurant around Maroon Bell and found this gem. The food is excellent--I highly recommend the Pad Ka Pow as my favorite dish! Plus, the view is incredible!
google avatar

Henal M.

Yelp
If you are willing to compromise on the mountain you, highly recommend going to this restaurant for lunch! The coconut/lemon grass noodle bowl was absolutely phenomenal! Perfect serving for one person. The drunken noodles are always a classic and they did not disappoint. We also ordered a vegan poke bowl - there are already a lot of jalapeños in their poke bowl, and I made the mistake of adding their red chilis to it. My mouth was on fire! These three things were good enough for a family of four adults. I was also touched by the fact that they offered water for my service dog.

Akshay U.

Yelp
Worst Thai experience I've ever had. Vegan food tasted like it had something else. The food had a lot of oil and food coloring. The food tasted stale and when we spoke to the waiters, they said this is how it is and since we ordered we've to pay for it. Worst of all they advised us to find a different Thai restaurant. When we asked them if we could send the food back and order something else, they asked us to pay for the ones we had previously ordered. If you're ever visiting Aspen, heed to the warnings and avoid this place. Grab some chips at gas instead. Worst food Worst customer service Worst experience ever

Yelp
The service is wonderful, the supposed fried rice is not fired- its cold rice mixed with extras and put in a bowl and then flipped unto a plate. The pho is superb and delicious. The sushi is very mushy rice and not kept fresh. sushi had good flavor but if you can get over the mushy rice it is good. I have studied thai cuisine and culture since I was a teen and this is mediocre at best.

Yelp
Went here for lunch during work and ordered a Pad Thai for takeout. I was charged $19 and some change for this small lunch dish that did not include any sides. Part of the $19 was that there was an additional 15% added to every takeout... why? First, the dish wasn't even good. Second, I stood at the door and needed nothing except the order handed to me at the end. The waiter wasn't rude but it's not like they were super friendly either. Third, if u think ur employees aren't being paid well enough... then pay them more, don't make ur customers do it. Even if I liked the food and let's say I went back here, which I won't cuz it's pretty awful. But I would order in, and once I got the food I would just ask for a box. Then I can tip what I think this person actually deserved. I also normally tip 20% so really in the end this rule just makes them lose. "But it's aspen and people have money!! Let's make up rules!"

Patrick S.

Yelp
Run, don't walk to Bangkok Happy Bowl! Best Thai cuisine in the valley, outstanding food and warm service. Hits the spot after a long cold day of work or ski.
google avatar

Kiet G.

Yelp
The pad Thai was good. Wasn't as spicy as I'd like it to be but it still had good heat. The pad Thai also had a good level of sweet, sour, and acid. They did give me a lemon instead of the lime but it didn't change the overall flavor too much so no big deal. The Thai tea was also good it was creamy and the right sweetness. Their management of Togo and dine in orders during coronavirus looks good. Hand sanitizer and alcohol based wet wipes everywhere. I feel comfortable sitting down and eating. All the staff wore masks as well

Marsh D.

Yelp
Sat outside and perfect. Server friendly and attentive. Food served promptly, good parking, good views. Water on table which is good at altitude. We had egg rolls with a non-sugary sweet chili dipping sauce, green curry with chunks of tofu - good except for the frozen peas & carrots, orange chicken which was tasty.
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
Worst Thai I've ever had... really expected more out of Aspen. Flavorless curry, weird and absent table service. Don't expect a water refill if you've ordered Thai Hot and don't expect your tofu to be cooked. Gross.
google avatar

Judy T.

Yelp
Cute place with pretty good thai. Not expensive for Aspen. It's in a little courtyard shopping center. I just got take out but it would be a nice place to sit outside and have a meal. Very nice service and it was ready pretty quickly considering how slammed they were. There was only one server doing everything. She was so sweet and working so hard. I got the green curry bowl with chicken and veggies and a side of Sambal to kick it up. I liked it!

Carol T. V.

Yelp
The food is absolutely absolutely wonderful. The Services is great and everybody is super friendly. Unfortunately there's a fantastic Mexican restaurant across the plaza from them, but I'm hoping that both of these wonderful restaurants will succeed marvelously

Yelp
Bangkok Happy Bowl Thai Bistro and Bar is an okay spot to grab a bite. The food is not amazing, but it is tasty enough, affordable, and filling. The menu has a good assortment and offers lunch specials as well. I have tried the gyoza, crab langoon, chicken satay, yellow curry, pad see ew, and orange chicken. Nothing in particular stood out to me, but I was happy to get my bang for my buck. The restaurant has a full bar and offers dine-in and take-out. Also, they share the same owner as Tiki Mana Big Bowl Noodles next door so you can order from both menus when dining in. This is not the best Thai food out there, but it gets the job done and within your budget.
google avatar

Food Brain Y.

Yelp
The appetizer sampler plate which was expensive had only one appetizer of each type. LAME. My plate the Pad Pad Prow was alright. Too many green beans, to me that is not a great filler. The sauce was off. Just not yummy. The noodle plate my husband got was ok too. The sauce was too sweet, almost slimy. Service was ok. Nothing awesome. Seems they have all the time in the world. Anywhoooo won't go back there.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
The Pad Thai here is solid- I ate here twice while in Aspen and found the dish to be delicious and it totally hit the spot. The only thing that was slightly amiss was the inclusion of a lemon instead of a lime with the dish, but figuring that it's Aspen and I'm sure it's not the easiest ingredient to procure, I was still very happy with my food. It was served hot and made to my specifications (no bean sprouts please) and was an overall great deal. Most places in Aspen are so exorbitantly expensive, but this place is a very reasonable price. The restaurant is really small, so on my second visit I called in my order to go- which was great planning on my part as all the tables at dinner time were occupied. There is additional seating at the bar, but if you plan on going during dinner hours, I would recommend getting it to go. Overall a great place and delicious food!
google avatar

Amy Z.

Yelp
It's Aspen, so this is the best Thai food you can get considering it's mountain town and it's close to Denver but yet far. I have been to this place few times and in my opinion this is one of the most reasonable Asian restaurants in town. The food it's not authentic but tasty. Suggestion; please don't make the food to sweet. This restaurant runs cold in the winter. I was freezing while I was dining here because the door is direct to the tables, so every time the door opens, the breeze blows to your face. Please turn on the heater a bit higher, so your customers don't freeze to death. Thank you!

Yelp
While driving through Aspen, I was in the Thai mood for lunch. Bangkok Happy Bowl happened to be the only Thai establishment that pops up on Yelp in Aspen. The lunch menu had a nice selection of options all under $10. We ordered the Bangkok Bowl, Cashew Nut Chicken and Cashew Nut Tofu. The portion sizes were adequate and the food was good. Sounds like their dinner can get pricey and for the environment it's not worth an expensive meal. But for lunch this place is a great option!!! The restaurant is located in a strip mall. And, its not really much of a "Bar", so don't go expecting one. The one odd thing was that the restaurant did not have their own restroom. You need to go across the outdoor atrium area and down a set of stairs to use a common restroom.
google avatar

Weren P.

Yelp
We have tried 3 Thai restaurants during our trip in Colorado and this one is considered worst in our opinion. We ordered two Thaipads with noddle and one soup. The soup is OK, but both noodles tastes no flavor except for a bit spicy. They are obviously overpriced. Even worse, they charged us an ~15% service fee for "taking out", which was never told when we ordered our foods on the line/phone. We don't understand why a service fee is needed for "to-go" (what decent service has been done?); they just told me it's their (Aspen or the store) policy.
google avatar

Amiel C.

Yelp
This is what I would consider as affordable in Aspen. The interior needs some thorough cleaning (especially the bar counter, maybe use some baking soda and dish soap). Service was fast and kitchen worked fast too. I liked the chicken wings for their crunchiness but I would suggest to have the wings lightly coated with your Thai dipping sauce instead of having it on the side.
google avatar

K E.

Yelp
I have come back a few times more, and it has gotten much more consistent with yummy food!! The curries, fried rice, and Bangkok Bowl are all super delicious.

Molly S.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! When we got there, there were not enough menus or utensils at a table with plenty of chairs for our party. When we ordered, the waitress seemed extremely confused in the questions we were asking and had a very odd presence to her. The food took a long time to arrive. When the bills came, the suggested tips listed at the bottom were not correct. The 20% tip option was the dollar amount of over 50% of our meal. If it weren't for someone in our party noticing this, we would have all WAY over tipped for very poor service. 3 of us in the party ordered sushi, and after we paid the waitress came over and said "I meant to ask you, but did you think the sushi fresh, was it fresh enough?". This made us all very concerned, as we then realized that the station for making sushi had been vacant the whole time, and we realized we had probably eaten sushi prepared hours before. The comment made us very uncomfortable. We then went to the bathroom, where we saw our waitress sitting on the ground with her shoes off, and then she left the restroom in a rush without washing her hands. We left extremely dissatisfied, and uncomfortable with the whole scene. Was very unprofessional service for a restaurant that charges such high prices. DO NOT GO HERE!

Kat S.

Yelp
Horrifying. I have been eating at this place for years, and unfortunately now I will never eat there again. Before heading into the restaurant, I went to the bathroom across the way by the hardware store. I saw a woman wearing bright purple latex gloves coming OUT of the bathroom. This seemed very strange. I then went over to the restaurant to order some food, and the waitress that greeted me was the same woman wearing the purple gloves from the bathroom! Did she use the bathroom while wearing her gloves?! Did she wash the used gloves?! Did she take her gloves off to use the bathroom and then put the dirty gloves back on?! Even if she changed her gloves after returning to the restaurant, she still brought those nasty bathroom germs in with her. Any of those options are disgusting health hazards. No wonder people are getting sick here. I even politely questioned her about it. She gave a nonsensical reply that indicated to me she did not understand English. There was no one else there with whom I could address my concerns. Even if I did, if they don't already know that's not appropriate, what difference would it make? As I said, horrifying.

Mg Z.

Yelp
Way overpriced. Canned sodas. Okay pad kee mao, awful orange chicken. It is nice that you can order Thai and Vietnamese.
google avatar

Oliver L.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered the Chicken Green Curry and the Chicken Pad See Ew. Service 2/5... Service was non-existent. When we walked in, we waited a few minutes for anyone to even greet us. The waiter, (was very nice) basically took our order, brought us water and food, and then dropped off the check. Food 1/5... the Green Curry was decent, but the rice was terrible. It was very watered down and soggy. Pretty much ruined the dish. The Pad See Ew was very sweet, and cooked with the wrong noodles. Instead of the broad wide rice noodles, the dish was cooked with thinner glass noodles (similar to what you would cook hot pot with). It also pricer than most other Thai places I've been to, but I suppose you could just chalk this off to being in Aspen.
google avatar

Kostas M.

Yelp
Awesome broth. Seriously. I eat Pho all the time. It was a super flavorful. Honestly I'd come back again. And, the service was super attentive.
google avatar

Sandeep D.

Yelp
Not bad food for Asian food in aspen :) The place is small but a nice authentic feel to it.
google avatar

Minnie W.

Yelp
Food was so fast and SO GOOD! One of the best green curries I've had... definitely thee best egg rolls I've had. MAN ARE THEY GOOD. literally one of the happiest days sitting outside in the sun with their green umbrella, green table, and green cups with a bowl of happiness. Happy Bowl is a well-deserved name.

Katie S.

Yelp
Food was lacking. The Pad Se Ew was extremely dry and felt like it was missing something. The papaya salad was very soupy and not to tasty, do not recommend. I have the summer rolls and those were pretty good! There is pineapple in them which is a little different. A little annoying that they add a 15% tip on takeout and never told me on the phone and no option to remove it. Why am I tipping if I'm getting take out? Oh well. Would rate the food just ok overall.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
Worst Thai experience I ever had. Food came cold and was flavorless. Me and my friend got sick from eating here. Never wrote a review before but hoping this helps someone. Suppose to go to a show and may be in the bathroom all night.
google avatar

Vaughn O.

Yelp
'Twas our first night in Colorado, having just landed in Aspen and en route to our rental in Carbondale. We decided to find a place where we could eat a plant-based meal. Bangkok popped up on the Happy Cow app and we were already in the parking lot because we'd just picked up a few things from City Market! So into this place we go. Bangkok's dining room is about the size of a large walk-in closet. You can either sit elbow to elbow with other guests who are seated at nearby tables, or have a tad bit more room at the bar. FOOD: We went with the Pad Thai Jay, which was a vegan version of pad thai, and the Eggplant Lover Jay, also a vegan dish. The pad thai was meh. It didn't have the usual lemongrass flavor of pad thai, so I had to keep adding Sriracha. The eggplant dish was pretty good, but not enough to make us want to revisit this place.
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
When the food is good, it's very good! The cashew nut chicken, the curry bowls, happy family are almost always great, except when it's not, which is 1 out of every 5 visits. It's either missing the sauce or some key ingredient. Same with the service...when they're "on", they're ON. You may end up waiting a while for your food or check.
google avatar

Shihan K.

Yelp
Not authentic Thai food. Service is terrible and waiter didn't even ask for spice level :(. We ordered Penang curry and yellow curry. Taste was terrible and really watery gravy. Worst part is they served in broken plates. Looks gross :(

Foodie S.

Yelp
Very disappointed. We've come many times over the years. Quality has gone down considerably. Staff is rude and dismissive. They now add an automatic 15% gratuity to "Togo" orders but fail to disclose to customers ordering by phone. We were told less than 30 minutes for our order but waited nearly an hour without so much as an acknowledgement. Meanwhile we watched others receive their orders in half the time.
google avatar

Cecily C.

Yelp
Mouth. Is. Happy. I ordered the Royal Duck Curry! Aptly named and fit for a King, Queen, AND all the Princes & Princesses! Perfectly spiced and brimming with flavor from curry, lychee, pineapple, tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, green pepper, basil...I will miss you, Bangkok Happy Bowl!

Carolyn G.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in Aspen. The vegan pumpkin curry is amazing, and the service is great.
google avatar

Janie K.

Yelp
We were a little weary of the crowd of people in the touristy part of Aspen. We came to the post office for stamps (#AirForceParents) and noticed the sign for Thai food. We love Thai food and this place quickly serves delicious, hot food. We enjoyed the quiet patio with beautiful flowers!

Paul S.

Yelp
All around amazing. I've been coming to Bangkok Happy Bowl since I first moved here two years ago. Love their vegan menu and very reasonable, non-Aspen prices. the vegan fried rice with tofu is my favorite fried rice in the universe - very unique spice blend. To the hater below complaining about a 15% service fee on to-go orders- try to find a better deal! and, you should be tipping for to-go orders anyways.
