Amazing customer service. Excellent presentation. The array we tried were all yummy. Teriyaki chicken had the right balance of flavours. Sashimi sampling is a must. Just two of the many great dishes we tried.

What a cool spot! The food was spectacular, the service was great, and the vibes were awesome. Don’t be fooled by the small-looking front entrance—step inside and take a look. And make sure to bring your appetite for Japanese food

I had such a lovely experience here last night. We ordered the $95 banquet and we were absolutely stuffed by the end of it. The staff were lovely. The food quality was amazing and overall I had a great experience. The venue itself is really cool and I would highly recommend visiting this place! See you soon :)

This restaurant has been our go-to restaurant for the past 2 Christmas’s. We love the vibe of the restaurant and variety in the menu. This year we enjoyed the $75 banquet of 8 dishes. It includes a great variety of dishes including seafood, meat & chicken and leaves you very full. My favourite dish was the lobster sushi and sashimi beef. I do wish the dessert was a bit light and not as rich in sweetness.

The place is really cool, with lots of inspiration in Japan. Our waiter was very nice and always with a smile on his face. We ordered the takoyaki (ok for me, but I’m not a fan of octupus), the okonomyaki (different from the ones we had in Japan, and it seemed that it took a lot of potato), the soft shell crab baos (I think it was a bit of disappointing, it lacked flavour) and the volcano rolls (these ones were incredible! Highly recommend). For dessert the matcha creme bruleé, very nice and dense.

We had dinner here on a busy Friday night and were impressed by the excellent service. It was attentive and efficient despite the crowd. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. For the price point, the dishes were mediocre at best. The only standout was the ebi mayo, everything else was quite underwhelming. On a brighter note, the cocktails were exceptional and truly the highlight of our evening.

Curtis and Lucas helped me put together a last minute 15 pax group booking at their amazing restaurant. Probably the most helpful and lovely service I've experienced in a while. We had 2 friends who were sharing a birthday, and they were kind enough to provide dessert, sparklers and a wonderful happy birthday chant to our group. All the food and drinks we ordered were extremely fresh, tasty and well priced. Our group could not stop acknowledging the amazing service and ambience of the restaurant! Make sure you pop this onto your list of restaurants to try as it has become one of my favourite spots, especially for a bigger group! Thank you!

Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya is truly a hidden gem in Fitzroy! Don't be fooled by the modest entrance - once inside, the space opens up into a surprisingly spacious venue with multiple areas including a stunning courtyard with a retractable glass ceiling. We opted for the set menu, which turned out to be an excellent decision. Every dish from start to finish was exceptional. The gyu tataki (beef tataki) was perfectly prepared - the meat was incredibly soft and tender, complemented by a refreshing sauce that balanced the richness beautifully. The tori teriyaki was another standout - the chicken was remarkably tender with a wonderful smoky flavour that showed their skill with the robata grill. What made the experience even better was the super friendly staff who were attentive and knowledgeable throughout our meal. They provided excellent service without rushing us, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The restaurant blends traditional Japanese cuisine with contemporary twists, and it's clear why it's considered one of the best Japanese dining spots in Melbourne. Whether you're a sushi lover or looking to explore more diverse Japanese dishes, Ichi Ni Nana delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable Japanese dining experience in Fitzroy!
